I remember the folk song when I lived in Europe as a teen. Then was reminded of it when I heard Miles Davis, Paul Chambers, John Coltraine and others. Other lyrics I heard at Hollywood Studio B&G with a local artist entitled Tomorrow's Another Day. No matter, the melody still bring back wonderful memories of my youth. BTW this rendition here is very nice.

Hikkokomoris basically enjoy individual freedom as families don’t care much about controlling or not allowing them to leave their house and the village/community/workplace cannot have the right him out of his personal private space In China and Korea this is traditionally impossible. It means running away from a clinging family.

I saw an American made movie titled “The Last Samurai.” One of the lead actors is a famous Japanese actor named Ken Watanabe and I’ll never forget the part of the movie when he was staring at a beautiful cherry blossom ( Sakura) and he said this. “One could spend an entire life searching for the perfect blossom and yet it would not be a wasted life.” A westerner would think about this statement in a completely different way than he meant it. What I think Ken Watanabe’s character was trying to say is that we should enjoy every single moment of the time we have here on earth and with nature, do not dwell on the past, do not dread nor even look forward to the future. Live every single day as it is given to us and enjoy each moment with nature and the beautiful gifts we have been given as if it were your last day on earth, have no regrets. That’s what I would like to think he meant, regardless, I will never forget that phrase from the movie, it touched my heart and soul in a way that is difficult to describe.

My Sister in Law was born in Yokohama Japan, she now lives in San Diego California USA. As a westerner from the United States of America, at first I had a difficult time understanding why she would never express any negative feelings about where we went to shop or to eat etc., she was always agreeable no matter what I expressed an interest in but the longer we were together and became more acquainted, the more she began to open up to me as a family member and she started sharing her preferences for different things and places she wanted to do and to go. She is very intelligent and very creative as well, she taught me many things, one of them was how to draw Kanji letters by practicing many hours, she would insist that I should not be satisfied with only the end result of the project but instead to take joy from the process of learning and doing. She is a joy to be around and she has taught me so many things, most of all, how to be more kind and how to have more patience with people. I love her dearly and I miss her a lot.

Miyao Sensei konnichiwa. Japanese Social Behavior it's a really complex matter to explain even by a japanese person. I've been studying this subject and allow me to share my point of view. In my humble perspective japanese people lives, and think, in a world what is ruled by nature. Nature is like a silent and accessible mother. Japanese people forces his behaviour according to do what all requirements and orders are indicated by mother nature. Nature is grupal and collective. Birds, fishes, plants, clouds, trees, rocks etc. All similars elements are connected in perfect harmony representing a nature feature. It s like a mastermind "keep the grupal balance and you ll have a harmonious life". The blood test compatibility could be one more way to prove this fact. Compatibility is the key. A lot of occidentals does not have a good perspective about this silence and permanent agreement social posture. Sounds likes you re always being observed or neglected. A non error environment that you have to be adapted. A reality of perfection in a non perfect human world. That is the reason why Zen is important concept to be achieved through japanese arts expressions. An empty mind and soul person whose you will not think about your own life. Just live and keep going ahead to a unknown destination among equals. If life gets boring that is always a way to shorten this not balanced life. My final observation is that life is so boring that no one wants marry in japan. No children, no hope, just work and work to give life a meaning and reason.

I have always been intrigued by Japanese sense of aesthetics. As an architect, Tadao Ando and Japanese gardens pulled me towards Japanese designs. As a bookworm, Rabindranath Tagore and Buddhadeb Bose (I'm guessing, not sure) pulled me towards Japanese culture. Love from India.
