Function of Transformer Radiator
A transformer radiator's function is to dissipate excess heat generated by a transformer and keep it operating within safe temperature limits. Here's how a transformer radiator works:
Oil flow
When a transformer is under load, hot oil rises to the top of the oil tank and enters the radiator through the top valve.
Cooling
The oil is cooled by the radiator's thin walls and returns to the oil tank through the bottom valve.
Heat transfer
The amount of heat transferred through the radiator depends on several factors, including the oil flow rate, the radiator's surface area, the external cooling medium, and the ambient temperature.
Fans
Fans can be installed on the radiator or near it to help dissipate heat. Fans also reduce noise, improve the comfort of workers, and increase electrical insulation.
Oil pumps
If the oil's convection circulation isn't enough, an oil pump can be used to speed up the process.
