TRUE STORY: >n 75' we came here from Dallas Texas, I was7 yrs old. My mother end of passing away I was 8 yrs old. S yr stayed with my grandparents who lived at 15th and Fairmount ave. I used to walk to the store for my Gramps which was located at broad and fairmount between Ridge ave. The same store I would soon befriend a Greek couple who owned the place. They actually gave me a job of staying in the store, translating to them what the people of philly needed or wanted in the store. They slowly taught me to speak and read their greek language in order for me to communicate to them, the American way so to speak. Well I end up staying there til 16 yrs old when I ended up an orphan bc they went back to their country. Out if all this, I had a FULL TIME JOB at 8 yrs old (m to sat) 845 to 530 pm. Carrying sodas, helping with everything. The address was 602 or 606 broad st. I often visit the store bc of the memories. I keep saying to myself, I'm gonna buy the business from the old owner 1 day. It's crazy as I think and daydream how I went there at 8 yrs old everyday, in the summer, then after school in the fall and winter . I would share my school work with my boss. He and I both learned. Lol.

Brother, it hurts til this day bc they were the only parents I ever had. They changed my culture to European so to speak and I'm BLACK.......anyway, they saved me from the harsh philly streets and I wanted to get out there badly! I've been Looking for them in Greece. I'm still gonna buy that business! Trust me.i helped put that grill in there!

Back during this era, it was a little easier to feel the personality of every great city, but with Philly it just warms your heart, because it’s ours, all of ours.I’m an Italian boy born in S. Camden, I’ve been around the block, all the blocks. Peace, Rocky
