My background is in Irish traditional music but I have gone somewhat feral over the years. I have a fascination with the Shona mbira music of ZImbabwe as you might tell but I continue to play mandolin, electric mandola, concertina, percussion from West Africa, Cuba and the Middle East as well as various synthesisers, circuit bent equipment and an old C64 from my youth. I record, mix, master and release my own music as well as that of Zimbabwean traditional musicians. See the links below and in particular do support the mbira players by buying their music. Mbira maestro William Chitauro and myself recently published a four module course on Bandcamp, so if you are interested in finding out more about mbira and learning to play, please check it out. All money raised by any of the releases of Zimbabwean mbira music are sent back to Zimbabwe, this is not a fund raising project for me.

Thanks for getting in touch. The tuning is generally called Bb Nyamaropa which refers to the pitch of the lowest note on the top left hand keys. In the notation system described in the accompanying document (linked on Google drive in the video description) the left hand 3 keys are Eb and are the root notes of a major scale described by the rest of the keys.
