The manager is not allowed to accost you like this, if he has any suspicions about you he should alert security < whom should have a valid sia doir supervisor badge, not a security badge, not a cctv operator badge, or even a close protection badge, the only badge that allows you to search someones person, or their belongings, or restrain if necessary is a door supervisor badge.
