    dimaggio is a much more like 2nd man - a line drive type of hitter. mantle has way too much power to put him 2nd. it doesnt matter which order ruth, gehrig and mantle bat. but they are 3-4-5. ruth wasnt much of a fielder, was he ? one might consider making him the dh. if i recall, maris was an excellent fielder, so he could be rf, as a possibility. it boils down to do you want reggie's bat, or roger's glove ? i tend to go with the gloves. speed on the bases is a very minor issue. it may be important for a poor hitting team, but it certainly applies very little with this team !!

    Wilt is overrated. He should be in the back end of the top 10 to top 12. I hear many old-timers say Oscar was insanely skilled and the best player of the 60s. I just can't put him in my top 10 because he won nothing in the 60s. He was the Wilt of PGs. He put up monster numbers but could never even get to the finals as the main man of the Cincinnati Royals. He had to leave Cincy in his later years after never sniffing a title to come join Kareem's Bucks and win a title as a clear #2. I hold that against him. He only won one MVP as well. I got Oscar in my top 25.

    Young idiots say Pistol Pete never took teams deep into the playoffs. Had he been on the Celtics in the 70s they would have won 7 titles. Red Auerbach said Pete was the "BEST PLAYMAKER" in the league in his eyes. And as you saw against Clyde and Monroe, could annihilate elite defenders even with no other teammates. As Bob Ryan stated, between 30-40 all time is his place no lower.

    • @QuestionEverything562
      @QuestionEverything562 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      He was the better Allen Iverson of his time. Great scorer and flashy playmaker, but not a winning player. He never understood how to lead. He was a loser in terms of team success everywhere he went. Put Pistol on the 60s Celtics and take off Russell, the Celtics might win 2 titles. No way they sniff more than that.

      @GeorgeYoung-co3rr Judge can't compare to Ruth, Mantle, Mays, Aaron, Richie Allen, etc. These men played in ballparks that had fences that were way over 400 feet. The old Yankee Stadium center field was 461 feet. Left center was 457 feet. Right center was 407 feet. Today's parks have center fields that are 400 feet!!! Mantle, who was 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighed 190 lbs. hit two HRs to dead center in the old Yankee Stadium. Both went over 500 feet. Mantle hit one in Griffith park in the 1950s that went 565 feet! Mantle almost hit one over the right field facade in the old Yankee Stadium. Twixe! Judge is an oversized human. Who knows if he is juiced up. Richie Allen hit balls out of Connie Mack Stadium in the 1960s. Over the grand stand in left center. The grandstand was 90 feet tall. Those shots traveled 525 feet. Frank Howard was 6 feet 7 inches tall and weighed 290lbs. He was the only man to hit a HR into the upper deck in left field that went almost to the back of the seats. In the old Yankee Stadium.

    The day Tim Duncan thinks he was better than Hakeem Olajuwon, he should wake up and apologize. Duncan wasn't better than Moses Malone either. Duncan was not really a pure power forward. He was really a Center/Forward. David Robinson was a better center than Duncan. Isiah Thomas lifted a dormant Piston franchise to the top of the NBA. Magic arrived in the NBA with a team that already had Jabbar, Wilkes and Nixon. The later added Worthy as the No. 1 overall pick a couple years later and added a still able McAdoo. Thomas played on great all-around teams during their championship runs, but never the multiple hall of fame, top 50 players like Magic and Bird did. Yet Thomas led the ultimate outsider Detroit Pistons to post-season victories over the Celtics, Bulls and Lakers while Bird, Magic and Jordan were in their primes. There are levels between Thomas and the point guards listed between him and Magic and Oscar. Thomas, listed at 6-1, was this team's leading scorer five consecutive seasons, Magic turned the trick three times in his career. PGs like Stockton and Kidd might have more career assists and steals due to longevity, but they never carried a franchise like Zeke. Speaking of combo guards, Walt Frazier and Gary Payton also carried the scoring load, while being elite passers and lock down defensive players. Frazier led the Knicks to two finals victory of that era's super team, the Lakers. Payton was his generation Walt Frazier, his Supersonics just fell short winning the championship. I agree with Rick Barry being criminally ranked low. A whole generation of all-time great players have been ranked low because they played in the 1970s, before the Magic, Larry and Michael era. Finally, Julius Erving is underrated due to the over recognition of being a great dunker. He was a franchise carrier and team leader who always played his best in the post-season. He used his dunks, not as stunts for entertainment, but to change the momentum of games, just as Bird used three point shots. The fact that his 76ers struggled to get past the Celtics and Lakers is no shame. Few others could either.

      Prime Duncan wasn't better than prime Hakeem but Duncan's career is better than Hakeems. Prime Duncan and career was better than Moses. Duncan was a better scorer, shot blocker, defender, and passer than Moses.

    In 1983, the Russian military shot a Korean passenger airliner out of the sky. In response, one morning when he was broadcasting from the WNBC radio studios at 30 Rock, he went out where the flags from various nations are flown and took down the Russian flag. I remember listening that morning and his voice had been off the air for a while. Charles McCord read the news, commercials and sketches ran, etc., and then finally I heard Imus again, laughing maniacally. From what I'd gathered, he'd had someone distract the security people just long enough so he could get the flag. Ultimately what I think he did was sell squares of the flag for donations that were collected for a fund to donate to the victims' families (I think - memory's foggy). Between him and Charles, a scathing letter was penned to then Russian President Yuri Andropov and read by Imus on-air. I also think that anyone who donated was sent a small piece of the cut up flag. I loved imus though the years and there were so many moments. That's a relatively early one.
