While there is no charge for admission, there is a suggested donation of $15. Registration for seat reservation can be completed at forms.gle/8sQCYMQpNkrvjE5KA
Additional Stream of Concert Video: Nov. 24 at 5:00 pm on the NCCMI TH-cam Channel
Concert features the complete Mendelssohn Octet for 8 string players, as well as the premiere of James Dargan's new String Quartet (movement 1) called Honey Rock; Wood Valley. Mr. Dargan was commissioned by NCCMI to compose the piece.

There will be a free webinar on Sunday, November 3 at 7pm featuring Mr. Dargan and Dr. Timothy Holley, moderated by Waltye Rasulala. This event will focus on Mr. Dargan's journey from his early days as a young violinist in Durham to his prominent life as a composer and vocalist based in New York. His parents were longtime teachers at St. Augustine's College and NC Central University.
The conversation will also touch upon the importance of diversity and inclusion in the arts and share the story of how NCCMI became a trailblazer in the world of chamber music training programs, by commissioning new works and by shining a spotlight on historically overlooked music. One minute and 3 seconds of bliss! Nothing better than the mello sound of 5 cello players, especially when they play like these musicians! Sophia, Knappe, Quenton Blache, David Kim, Catherine Yates and Gabriel Ramos.

Very nice work!
Great choice of the composer. Great play.
Let’s go rachel
Nice
Awesome concert!! I love the contrast in the repetiore selection, ranging from Beethoven to Taylor Swift. I especially loved the Dogwood Trio’s Pale Yellow by Jennifer Higdon. I loved the subtle harmonies and beautiful melodies. I also love how the audience was involved throughout the concert, especially at the end where everyone was encouraged to sung along with What a Wonderful World. Overall amazing concert!!
This is Allison from Sempre Piano Quartet. It was nice to hear the variety of pieces in this lineup, and everyone played so beautifully and expressively.
This is Divya from the Subito String Quartet. Bravo to all the musicans! Such beautiful playing. The pieces themselves were quite amazing too; lots of dynamic contrast and dissonance (which I love).
This is Max Owen from the Beach String Quartet. This was such a great lineup and incredible performances from the musicians! It’s always wonderful to see music from composers that are not too well known.
Incredible performance! The emotions really blew me away!
Gorgeous playing! This is a lovely tribute to black composers and their beautiful works.
Phenomenal! It was amazing to see the professionals performing together!
absolutely gorgeous playing! these are always so so inspiring to watch
Beautiful performance!!! That Beethoven was very well played. Bravo everyone!
Karolyna Huntanar: I've never heard of a Seitz's piano quartets before and this was a lovely introduction to them. I especially enjoyed the Walzer Caprice. I also loved the powerful yet thoughtful phrasing of the Mendelssohn. I also much enjoyed the piece composed by Quenton, and the unique parts of each instrument.
Thank you for the beautiful performance. Listening to this in the car with my dad, we loved the changes in the emotion and feel of each piece. I hope to watch the performance in-person next year. -Leah from the Clark String Quartet
Amazing playing! I really liked the Dvorak piece that thoses girls played, really well done.
Great playing! I enjoyed watching it! The faculty trio playing Beethoven was amazing.
I really liked the expression that everyone showed in every piece, and I strive to be as good as them someday! Thank you so much for providing such a great program and these amazing performances! - Alex from the Boulanger Piano Quartet

Beautiful!
Very impressive!! Very talented young ladies!
WOW! That was fantastic! 😍
(JN here) Second Joshua: beautiful phrasing on the Mendelssohn, and the imaginary power of the music composed by Quenton is amazing.
Beautiful performance! The cellist in particular plays with such conviction and sensitivity!
Great performance! Beautiful songs choice !
(This is Joshua) I loved this performance! It was amazing. I loved the phrasing of the Mendelssohn, and the story behind the Sandcastled King, I could definitely hear it. I also like how it started with a cello solo. 😁
Beautiful selection of music. ❤
Thank you!
Joy Joo: Thank you for performing these wonderful yet not recognized enough pieces. I enjoyed both Seitz’s piano quartet with 2 violins and Quenton’s piece.
Thanks so much!

My favorite piece was "Valse de la reine, Opus 22, no.3 (1899) Samuel Coleridge-Taylor". I really enjoyed this piece because i could hear all the people playing and not just the first violin. I also liked this piece because all the parts came together really well. The "Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing..............James Weldon Johnson (1871-1938) and John Rosamond Johnson (1873-1954)" was also a very good piece because it sounded really good with everyone playing.
Great performance!
Everyone played so well! I loved the ending the most and how there was a very large range of pieces played. Congratulations to the ones that performed!
this was an amazing performance! i enjoyed the harmony come together and the unisons at some points were beautiful :)
