The kids are just having a blast, they will remember for life, it brings me back some good memories when I was their age. It must be mid summer by the size of those micro shad, I drop green lights and wait for those micros to show up, when they do I use a 1/4 mesh cast net and catch them. Use a 1/32 #6 hook, run that hook through the nose of that 1" shad and flip it out around the out side of the light. Also, set up 3-4 hooks 1 ft. apart set out as many rods as you can and they will hammer those shad deadsticking. Depending on how deep the lights are, we set them 1 ft down, I use a 5 ft ultra light rod, and slab style straight below the light with two baits, anything under 2" is best. If you can get those ghost minnows, they work the best. Late spring and summer, baits 1-2" work best for night and early hours. Best spot to set is near the shallow flat where there is a ledge. They will sometimes move up shallow in 2 ft of water then move back to the ledge, stay near there and you can get them all night. You can jig with 2" silver minnow imitation around those lights, you really dont need minnows, the jigs can catch just as much. People disregard how good the crappie are on Texoma, the stripers take all the credit.
Nice video I subscribed plz check out my channel sometime wish my little boy would go fishing with me
Ifn your open to suggestion....get a 3'x3' BLANK target start at 20yds. to determine your up/down & left/right. Get an idea of that at 20yds. Once squared away move to 40yds. shoot the combo, draw 10" circle around the most dense portion of the pattern REGARDLESS of where it hits.Do this with all the load/choke combos you may wanna try, after you determine which combo works the best for you, then adjust your sites/red-dot/scope/etc...etc...etc... for your point of impact to match your point of aim. Then move back in 5yd. or 10yd. increments until your combo no longer puts 100 pellets in a 10" circle. Hope this helps!!!! Any other questions/recommendations please feel free to gimme a shout!!! GOOD LUCK!!!!
Thanks for posting. I have the same setup and haven't been too impressed w/ any of the winchester ammo so far.. Going out again this weekend to test out the same w/ a different choke and some federal & remington and a box of hornady. I haven't made a video (ever)...maybe I will and post my findings. It's great to share.Cheers!
+Travers Korobanik Which Winchester ammo have you tried? Choke/Ammo conbo???
+KY KRaZY I have the factory (accu) XX-Full choke. I've tried: - WIN XX 3" #6 - WIN XX 3" #4 - WIN Supreme High Velocity 3" #5 - WIN Turkey Load 3" #4 The tightest pattern I got was from my Imperial Special Long Range 2 3/4 #5 Target round This weeknd I'm trying all the above with my modified tube as well as the following with both tubes: - Hornady Heavy Magnum 3" #5 - WIN Long beard XR 3" #5 - Remington Nitro 3" #5 I'll pick the best and go with it..
Nice review, but you might try shooting at a larger ( 4'x4') sheet of paper. It might sound like a bit much but here's the logic. When you shoot a small turkey head target you can't really tell much about your pattern....like where your point of impact is compared to your point of aim,any holes that may be in your pattern, how dense the true center of your pattern is. That being said you can see where I'm goin' with the 4'x4' target . Try this and give me some feedback ifn you would....draw a 3" circle on the 4'x4' paper, shoot @ 40yds. then examine where your point of impact is compared to your point of aim, then (regardless of where your shot is)....dead center of you pattern hittin the 3" circle or not, draw a 10" circle around the most dense portion of your pattern and count how many hits are there, then repeat the same @ 50yds. and on out to whatever yardage you can until the pattern falls below 100 hits in a 10" circle, then go back and adjust your aiming system (whatever it may be )to make your point of impact hit where your point of aim is.Hopefully this will help you as much as it did me many, many, many, moons ago!!!! Drop me a line and lemme know how it works out for you,I believe you will find it very helpful!!!!
Hey try Longbeard Xr
Good info bro, thanks.
