Au Revoir Pet - Our French Life
United Kingdom
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 12 ก.ย. 2020
Trials and tribulations of a couple from Newcastle who’ve decided to move to France.
Spain or France
The first of a few planned trips to Spain to get a feel for the country and decide if we want to move there from France.
More important for Andrew as it was his first visit to Spain other than a quick border run to buy some cheap spirits of course.

We had to share our discovery… We are not associated in any way to Yuka and have had no benefit of any sort from them. We just wanted to share something that has changed how we shop and what we eat. Our friends and family have started using it too. yuka.io/en/ Apologies for the flickering video towards the end. We are experimenting with various cameras and phones that we have. Nothing of great ...

On our way to a wedding which is happening tomorrow near Clermont Ferrand. We thought it was time to do a well over due update of our life in France. The tv programme that we refer to in the video is allo allo Brits In France, Series 1 episode 2 and it was broadcast on Channel Five last year but should be available on catch up.

This is just to show you what some of the toll roads are like in France. Certainly a lot quieter than most UK roads.

After having finally finding a house to buy we are currently renovating the bathroom before we move in. Andrew has taken on the task himself after finding it difficult to get plumbers for one reason or another. In this video he is showing just how much it differs from UK plumbing and how much longer it takes to do one little job 🥴. However after having bought all the kit for this we then found ...

Trip to Brive la Gaillarde
มุมมอง 2283 ปีที่แล้ว
We visited our favourite place again, Brive. This was for us to more or less clarify that Brive and the surrounding area is where we want to settle. This visit confirmed it for sure. So I think this is the end of us visiting places for research purposes. We also found a lovely little place called Terrasson which will be the area we will look at buying a house when the time comes as it’s only 20...
Lovely episode! Exciting times! Can’t believe how warm it was where you were!
@@Maria_and_Rich_Newlifeinfrance it was lovely weather Maria. We’re heading back to Spain in March and I really can’t wait. Hopefully see you sometime in the next month or so 😊
Water!!!? Where’s the Bordeaux 😂. Enjoy guys ❤
Hi both.....Wow!! I never seen this coming😮. But, if you are not happy, or it doesn't feel right, you have to do what is best for you both. The old father- time clock keeps on ticking away, none of us are getting any younger, life can be too short for some people, and you don't want to look back thinking , dam we should of done it then. Time is still on your side, only this time, make sure it is the right decision. I'm sure you will both think this through.... Best of luck to you both. I know you live in Lot-et- Garonne area, but which town/area are you in? Taffy.
@@philiprowlands-e9p Hi Taffy can you try and find us on Facebook and send us a private message please. Search for ElaineandAndrew Greener.

@@ChateauTales thank you ☺️. Oh good luck with your project. Big task but I’m sure you’ll have fun doing it 😁
Brilliant… leave us in suspenders 😂 😂😂
Hi both. You never fail to make me laugh😂 love the fire in the background👍. One of the cons you may have forgotten to add. The Bureaucracy in France. Enjoy the bubbly😉. a' bientot Taffy.

Oh my God!!!!😮 You are back, bloody brilliant. What a great surprise! Welcome back to both of you!!. The house looks 👍. Me and the wife are planning on visiting our friends next June. They live in Lot-et-Garonne, near Tonneins. They were our neighbours until they decided to move to France just before Brexit. They surprised us with an unexpected visit over the weekend, It was awesome seeing them again. We had a chat about our plans of moving to France in a few years time. We are not sure which part just yet, but we will be looking at Bellac and plan a few trips over there to feel if it will be right for us. Anyway enough of me/us. It's so wonderful to see you back, you have been greatly missed. So until next-time, take care both, I look forward to seeing the new format. All the very best..... Taffy😉😊.
@@philiprowlands-e9p aww thank you. What a nice welcome. Yes it’s been a while but we’re going to try and do some other bits and pieces that hopefully might be of use to people like yourself who want to see how things are over here. Can you believe we are actually in the Lot et Garonne area too! We need to work out a way for us to hopefully meet up when you do get across to see your friends 😁
Yay! Well done you two! Good to see you back on telly :) x
@@Maria_and_Rich_Newlifeinfrance thank you. Started off small after such a long absence 😂 but hopefully we’ll do some other stuff just for a laugh 🤭 x
Cheers for that video , just been out and bought that tool and fixings, looks fun😅
@@spiderman0065 No worries glad you enjoyed it. You do get the hang of it the more you use it. Dare I say no leaks so far 👍
Hi Taffy. Good to hear from you! We somehow need to send you our email address but obviously we don’t want to do it on here. I know you’re not on snakebook anymore but do you live in Barry? If so, I could send you a message via messenger as I think I’ve found your old account 🤔. Let me know if it’s you and I’ll do that. Cheers, Elaine
Hi both. Yes! it's me again! Taffy. Ive been up late drinking Newcastle brown ale thinking of you, lol, binge watching your vlogs. Wow ! congratulations on buying a new home in France. On this episode. Time has flown by... Anyway, I hope, if you do get to read this message? As my wife and I, we are planning on going to Lot-et Garonne, visit some friends of ours, they used to be our close neighbour here in Wales. They moved to France just before Brexit, lucky buggers. We are hoping to visit them in June 2025. Our plans are also to move to France in a few years time. Fingers crossed🤞. I have already mentioned that I don't use Facebook, only WhatsApp. If possible, can you send me your email address? So that I may contact you ? Wishing you both good health and happiness. Taffy & Diane. 😊❤.
Hello both. It's Taffy. Hope you well, and enjoying life in France. I have not heard or seen any vlogs from you in a long time. I don't do Facebook, but use WhatsApp. Hope you hear from you soon. Take care both Taffy.
Mate, you’d be quicker & better using Soldered End Feed fittings & copper tube. Most are Brazed in France, but I’d just solder them.
Thankfully it’s irrelevant now as this was over a year ago and we’ve finished with all that carry on 😂
To be honest with you whilst the roads in general are much better than the UK regarding amount of traffic and even road surfaces we have to say that unfortunately there are still idiots on the road just like anywhere. Most of the French definitely change behind the wheel and we’ve had a few near misses over the last two and a half years. But it’s really strange that as a pedestrian and cycle rider they treat you with respect and give you a real wide berth.
Thanks for the reply, I have heard that the French drivers can be a bit mad, think I will leave my car behind and use a mountain bike or public transport, bus/taxi to get local supermarket, all depending on where we end up living. I've been looking on line at many places in France to buy a house, it gives me ideas of type of property we can afford for when the time comes to move to, knowing our luck we'd end up in a bloody tent somewhere lol. The area of Poitou Charentes is given me plenty to think about with it's milder winters, I've gone to dread and hate winter over here in Wales, cold damp and windy. I've been Ill with bronchitis for the past two weeks, you guys cheer me up though so thank you for doing that. Kind regards (Taffy).😊.
Hello both,. I've been thinking about you . Hope you are in good health and enjoying life in France. Can you up date me on how you have settled in, . It would be interesting to hear of what you both think about the decision you made, was it the right one, or are you having any regrets. Have you made any friends , French or English, or both. Do you miss anything about the UK. How is your French language getting on. Can you show the sights and surroundings of where you have bought your house. What is the climate like all season there, compared to what you have been used to back in the the UK.. Do you find it expensive over there compared to the UK. Can you give any advice for anyone hoping to make the move over to France since Brexit... So many questions to ask. Really enjoyed the vlogs you have made in the past. Hope me and the wife will end up living in south of France. We would love to sit down one day/evening, to have a meal/drink, and good chat with a lovely, great Geordie couple like you who have a great sense of humour. Kind regards (Taffy).😊.
Hi I think I’ve found you on fb 🤔. If so I’ve sent a message to you on messenger.
@@aurevoirpet-ourfrenchlife6772 Hi both, It's Taffy. Ive been wondering for ages how you both are. I'm not on Facebook (snakebook) I call it.😉. But I 'am on WhatsApp. I really hope you are both doing well and still living in France? Hope to hear from you soon so we can catch-up, on how you are getting on with life in France etc. And I can tell you my plans looking forward. Take care care both , and hope to hear from you soon. Taffy😉
Hi both, thank you so much for the mention. Hope you had a lovely day out at the wedding. By what you are saying, driving in France is a pleasure unlike the UK, roads always full of traffic, road works and diversions all the time, pot hole everywhere, vehicles cutting you up etc. as for the Uk weather, just a couple of days in a year we get the sun and the bloody government start talking about hose pipe bans.🙄. Retirement age can't come soon enough for me, then It will be France here we come.. Look forward to your next video, bye for now . Taffy.
Hi Taff sorry we’ve not got round to doing another video yet. But just wanted to let you know that the programme we were on is now available again on channel 5 catch up. They’ve renamed it The Good Life Brits In France and we’re in the second episode. You might enjoy watching that for a laugh.
Yay, comments switched on.... Thanks for the video... Question for you... Which do you rather. Tolls in France, or road tax in UK. Answers not on a post card because the post will most probable be on bloody strike!🤔 Kind regards, your number one fan/follower . (Taffy)
Haha. Thank you. Without question I would recommend the tolls in France as a much better alternative to UK road tax. Reasons being. You only pay when you use them! They can be avoided, and local roads used. Toll roads in general have far less traffic They cut miles off the normal route. They have a faster speed limit but seem safer. The money they make is generally ploughed right back into maintenance and upkeep. They have these lovely stopping places, a bit like services but far more pleasant, usually with toilets and picnic seating, sometimes bigger with shops and fuel.
All sounds great! Thank you for responding so fast, must be the speedy roads 😉@@aurevoirpet-ourfrenchlife6772
Hi Taffy. We’ve changed the setting so you should be able to comment if you so wish. Weather here is about to change soon so that’s when we’ll definitely have more time to be indoors and do some videos. Best make use of the last of the sun for now though 😂
Hello both. So happy to see you have made a follow up video. I'm unable to leave a comment on the last couple of vlogs you made as the comments have been turned off. Watching Andrew tackling the plumbing pipe knackered me out😂. I would of used a bit of grease to ease the attachments, but I'm no Plummer😁. Thank you for the mention, name dropping😉. The sun has come out today here in Wales, Indian summer they say🙄. Enjoy the wedding, wish I could be there with you , I would bring over a few bottles of my favourite tipple, Newcastle brown. Cheers!! both. (Taffy).
Congratulations on obtaining your carte de sejour . Is it a ten year one then you have to reapply when its invalid? Kind regards taffy.
They look yummy😋. My greedy wife would eat them both. I would be much happier and settle for a bottle of cold Newcastle brown.😍. Bon appetite.
You guys are mad😜😂. with the river in the backdrop, Andrew now looks like crocodile Andy😉. 😂.Kind regards Taffy
Hi Ellaine & Andrew. PML🤣. Watching Andrew appear and walking with the picnic basket in a deserted town with his hat on, he resembles a gunslinger in a western movie, gunfight at La Picnic Rock🤣. Kind regards Taffy.
😂😂😂
Hi both, classic comedy gold😂. Just like you I'm at beginner stage and it is so frustrating being in the early 60's age trying to speak and learn words that are completely alien to my small brain. Now that you have been living in France for 2.6 yrs. I would be very interested to know how you have progressed. Please do more videos even if you think I'm the only one watching, which I doubt as there may be another two, only kidding😂. Kind regards Taffy
We have been thinking about doing an update video to be honest so you never know. Also if you can find it anywhere you might be interested in watching the tv show that we were on. It’s called allo allo Brits in France and it was on Channel 5 a year or so ago. We are in episode 2 and it shows us galavanting around looking for somewhere to buy. The other people who were on are all business people who’ve started a business in France. There used to be some episodes on TH-cam so you may be lucky. Au Revoir 😁
Thanks for the Info, I shall look it up. I really do hope that you make a follow up video, after you found your new home/location, plus how you are coping with life in a new country learning, speaking the language etc. Kind regards Taffy. @@aurevoirpet-ourfrenchlife6772
Fair play to you both, wish I was over there in France with you, don't think I could stop laughing😂. from Taffy.
Second time watching this, absolute comedy gold, you both make me laugh so much, tears stream down my face. Thanks for the entertainment😂👌.from Taffy.
Thank you. At least someone finds us funny 😂
Love it! great fun. Thank you both. (taffy).
Hi both, you certainly are entertaining, had me laughing throughout the video.😂 Taffy
Hi, Just subscribed. Stumbled across your videos,. You both sound like a lovely couple with a great sense of humour and would definitely share a few drinks if ever our path meet in the future. Massive thumbs up👍 to the local French residence, 👍 (resistance ) for non compliance . We are hoping to move over to France, but have to wait for retirement age, which is a few years away. This is the 1st time I've ever heard of Terrasson. The surrounding area in the camera shot looks beautiful, so will be looking at properties on line to give us some thoughts etc. Kind regards from Taffy.😊
Haha, Thanks for the kind words. Absolutely re the drinks. We have been thinking that we should do an updated video to show where we finally ended up buying a property as it wasn’t any of the areas we covered. However, we did think that no one was watching LOL. We bought on the edge of a place called Miramont-de-Guyenne, near Eymet in South West France. If you are thinking of retirement here, we are happy to be in touch and advise etc as we now have 2.5 years residency under our belts. If nothing else, please be aware of the changes to inheritance laws in France that came into force In Nov 2021, these changes challenge the rights under European law. It is currently being investigated by the EU Commission
Hey! I saw a comment from you, and then it disappeared... I don't know if you deleted it or if it's a bug from TH-cam. I wanted to thank you for correcting me and explaining why I used it wrong. I also wanted to thank you for your kind words. Sincerely, Lexie
Hi Lexie. Sorry I deleted it because I was worried you might be offended and also I didn’t want other people to think the same and have them say I wasn’t being very nice. I’m pleased you appreciate it though and I’m sorry you had to track me down via our TH-cam channel. I will continue to watch your channel for helpful tips and advice on the French language.
