Lychee Slicer Update 7.0.1 New Library Update So, Lychee is calling the new 7.0.1 update a "Major Update" release and quite frankly I disagree. This release was just a push to the library addition and of course you need another subscription for access, some of the models I can already get for free right now, so you tell me guys is the new Library the update we have been waiting for? what are your thoughts on auto bracing and auto parent supports? i use them to give the tall single supports more rigidity to reduce layer lines showing up.
bless you for this
You are welcome.
I am also facing the same bug issue in regards to the proximity error. Thanks for bringing it up
Yup, it stinks.
Nice guide it is quite useful for me who started supporting manually some models I got and the auto supports where a bit too much. PS: I would really like to know those supports presets as I am kinda lost with those settings among other things in Lychee Slicer lol.
Here are my support settings. drive.google.com/drive/folders/1XWSvgzjTIEneEQo2Qyb1BtIrUHr-vUFD?usp=sharing
@@IPrint3dMinis Thanks a lot I/m going to try those on my next print.
@@wilhemfaust250 Best of luck with it!
I lost support settings i used all the time in the move from 6 to 7. Its just a worse free option than it was before. Everything that made it a good free slicer is no longer free. Im moving to chitu.
You can save and export those settings. That way if you lose them you can restore them, but I get it cost is always a factor.
Thanks for this video, I learned a lot... good job 👍👍
You are very welcome!
Thanks good job explaining this. 👍👍
You are very welcome, glad it is helpful.
When it was asking you just what your printer it was because you were loading in an FTD file and you don't have an FDM printer. The printer you would need to add would be an fdm printer. The reason why you were able to download the file is to preview it. Of course, if you don't have a license, you can't do anything with the file because it's locked. This is done for a few reasons but the biggest reason is some of these files can be quite large and to download a full HD quality. Every time you want to just look at it can be very data intensive and so we've created a lower quality version that can be previewed and downloaded quite quickly. As of right now we have close to 800 models in the library and that number will double over the next few months. There are quite a few models that we've added as well as others that we will be adding some by themselves will cost as much as the the library. Alao the library does come with lychee Plus which includes FDM.
The fact that the model is listed as both FDM and Resin in the library to me means it should work without having me go through the process of adding an FDM (that part is annoying since I wanted to possibly print it in resin, but that particular model is free on Thangs anyway so I would not want to pay for a free asset). I have only Lychee PRO, so I do not have the Library, nor would I want it to be 100% transparent. I think it's bloating the software, and adding a layer of rubbish that just doesn't need to be there. Lychee is trying to do the Epic store thing (Like Epic tried to take on Steam and failed - well still failing and clinging on for dear life.) and barge into an arena that is already crowded with massive sites like MyMiniFactory, Cults3d, and so many more that offer tons of files, or Thingiverse, and Thangs which offer tons free models. The Library is what it is, and it's not for me, plus asking for another $20 a month for STLS you might or might not like...meh again just not for me. For $20 a month I can join 2 or 3 Patreon subs at low tier and get models each month that I have 100% control over. If you get something out of it, good, at least it is worth it for some. For me, who does this as a living it just feels like a part of the software that needs to be in a webstore or something like it, putting it directly into the software just adds to the software, and gives me an annoying tab at the top that has no purpose for me. I guess this feature was just aimed at making some extra cash and maybe for newcomers who have no idea where to find files. But 800 or even 1600 as you say it will double still pales in comparison to most of the other sites out there. So, I while I understand this is a business move, it might be one that doesn't catch on. I mean Cults3d alone has over 1 million assets and/or files. This is why my argument makes a solid point that this a "late-to-the-game" concept for Lychee. I love the software for the work I do, but this just seems silly to me. I am waiting for more real updates and bug fixes like the proximity error I still deal with almost daily, or crashes, and stutters. Until then I really don't think this update is "major" at all.
@@IPrint3dMinis Q4s focus is quality of life. Like you said it's not for everyone but it's not an extra 20 euros per month. It's currently 15 a month and that includes Plus so it's an extra 5 per month for unlimited access to all the models. There is another feature that can only be available if it's included in the Slicer. Artist cja upload their models or the library with 0 risk of the files being sold on 3rd party websites. These assets are secure. Many artists have unique files they have never offered due to this issue. Stay tuned as the library grows.
Do you only use your one custom light support? I'de also like to ask how this method is holding up for you 3 months later. I gave your method a good couple tries, out of my 6 attempts I have gotten 5 successful prints. Albeit I think I supported too little.
Yes, and no...while I use that light support a lot. Some occasions I go heavier, while other times even lighter still. Recently had a pair of fairy wings that are so thin you can see light shine through them. Supporting those required using the smallest tip I have ever used a 0.05. It worked, but it was like a needle tip. Albeit just right for the object. I think it really just goes back to what ever you are printing. I would also say 5 out of 6 is good. So, that's great. Hope the rest are all successful. Thanks for watching.
Thank you 😊
You're welcome 😊
@@IPrint3dMinis I’ve had a tough time with supports and orientation until this video. Thank you again 😁
@@Beansandnoodles You are welcome, glad it is helpful.
We're releasing the update you're waiting for within 10days :)
Great I will make sure and check it out as soon as it launches.
I subscribed and I’m enjoying the library. I got 4 solid prints so far and if I was to get them from a patreon then it would have cost me more
Okay, good to hear that someone is getting something out of it.
No, I wouldn’t pay $15.00 to $20.00 per month for an in-slicer library. A free library for Lychee users to share models should be an attraction, to attract new Lychee users (ie. maybe more paid Pro users tor the Mango/Lychee company). Also, we are ALL inundated with paid subscriptions for everything from music to software to TV streaming services. Who can afford all these subscriptions? Lastly, I hadn’t realized the Lychee Pro and Premium costs had crept up to near Chitubox Pro. I guess it was inevitable. Ugh!
I 100%, the costs combined with the fact that the software is already a subscription. Factor in that I have used it for over a year and a half plus as a PRO/Premium sub, and you do the math. It gets costly. I would almost rather just pay a one time fee and own it. At the end of 10 years or so I think we all bought this stuff like 10 times each.
@@IPrint3dMinis Preach, brother, preach!
I love lychee but all the gimmicks are a waste of time and i think there price is getting to high nearly has much has chutibux now
I 100% agree that the cost is getting higher, and now that they want to add on an additional fee for "library" use. When a good portion of the models here could probably just be purchased through the modeler's Patreon or even for FREE in some cases.
I use the fast slicing I havnt had and issues that I know of. Why are y’all not using it?
Had a few issues with some of my new printers, prints randomly start corrupting mid-print. I mentioned this to Lychee almost a month ago and very little response as well as the other bugs I have reported. Personally I think it works okay, but it is buggy and I would prefer to wait for a few more stable releases before I put into my professional work-flow.
It's not available to use with my printer Mars 2 Pro.
@@CJ-ur3fx Some printers have issues with it. Reason why I am not using it yet.
5:57 - Those dots could be bubbles in the resin.
Yes, bubbles are always possible. Have worked with a few guys who say they are not bubbles, but I am pretty sure they are trapped air.
Since I use lychee I've noticed that in files with projects with more than 1000 layers, every 100 slices it stutters a little bit, maybe a third of a second, but is noticeable EDIT: And I just tested the "fast slicing", and it just "prerenders" the file before slicing it... is faster AT SLICING? Yeah, it took just a little bit... but the rest of the time was "preparing" the file hahaha
I agree the prepare stage takes a bit too, but they are only talking about the actual slicing itself. I think the goal is to have that process be as quick as they can make it.
Which printer did you use to print the models? Are they cured or not in the showcase?
Yes, they are cured. Printed on the Photon Mono 4K, not the 4K 2 or the new Mono 4, those are better. I am getting my hands on the new Mono 4 10K model soon.
Just want to say TY and that you have been such an incredible help. I think you have (by far) the best Lychee tutorials on the web.
You are so welcome!
are you kidding??? you test "normal with High definition" vs "Fast without definition" and say "wow its fast!" try use similar forms, because their format of Fast slice is fully not working normally, and a much slower then even notmal mode for 8k printers
Easy there friend. I was only showing the main difference between the two. I don't work for Lychee. I just use the software. I have compared the slicing to all sorts of other slicers, no Lychee is not the fastest, yes there is a stutter delay every 100 slice layers, I have even had better slicing speeds using Anycubic's native slicer, but I do still prefer Lychee's tools for just about everything else.

6.2 always crashing after rendering... Performance went to unuasable. System ist Linux Manjaro with a Vega 56
Report the bug to Mango, they will look into. They might ask for LYS scene file that causes the issue, but if it is every time might be an install problem. Perhaps try removing it, and reinstalling the software.
@@IPrint3dMinis Thanks! Thats a good advice! I will reach out to them. Maybe I can help to solve that issue for me and espcially others! BTW great channel!
@@hundsboog Of course, love to help. Lychee is great but I have heard a lot of folks struggle with it, performance, bugs, etc. you are not alone, I too have issues with it quite a lot. But when I consider the alternative of using Chitubox, I would rather deal with bugs.
@@IPrint3dMinis oh yes indeed, thats a good point! So i stop complaining and do what a good nerd has to do: file a bug report to the devs!! ;D
@@hundsboog Lol, totally. They always respond to me, so I am sure you will get a response back. Maybe instead of directly slicing in Lychee, export as an STL fully supported and just slice using a different slicer. Could be a good work around for now.
Well done! good video,. thank you

Yes I agree another great tutorial and I greatly appreciate it cause I I’m a novice at this hobby I absolutely love it! I just got 6.2 update and I do not see an option to add bracing to my supports. Where did they go?
The new version 6. includes a NEW grid support system. Go to prepare, support and then look for "Structure" on the menu on the right.
Hello I just came across your channel not too long ago and I absolutely love the fact that you simplify things! I’m new to 3D printing, chitubox is not working for me in a simplicity way. I was wondering what you recommend for me to use lychee free or the pro version? Oh I’ll be running the program on macOS and my printer is elegoo Saturn 4 ultra if that helps? I greatly appreciate your time and advice.
Lychee PRO is great and I recommend it for all users. The FREE edition is fine, but it is missing some tools.
As far as the printer Lychee supports that one, so you are good there. Mac OS should be able to run the newest version as well which has Grid support, and a ton of great tools.

I personally don't use it much, but it was an interesting way to do supports.
Since last week, performance went through the gutter to where the program was not usable.
Sorry to hear, after every update I hear that kind of thing. The performance issues are there, but I am sure they will work out the bugs.
@@IPrint3dMinis i managed to get it fixed. had to uninstall all lychee stuff, delete the folders, reboot, and do a clean install.
Thanks for the video. I have a mac mini with 32gb memory and always have a lag when slicing in Lychee Pro. The fast slicing looks amazing. Where can I find the beta for this?
Thanks for sharing. mango3d.io/downloads/
The stuttering was always a part of it , on all my pc''s
Okay, i guess I just never paid that much attention to the slicing, at the end that is the last thing I do and I usually go through each slice prior to slicing anyway, so I don't sit and watch too often.
I experienced the stuttering since I started using lychee 2 years ago. I just accepted it as the price of doing business. Would be great if there's a fix for it though 😂

It’s an aesthetic upgrade and probably only I notice it but I can see it mattering more for printing those minis and figures. Your Lychee settings were Smooth surfaces. Radius 4. Grey offset 50%. HD-on. AA on supports - OFF
Awesome, I imagine the dental models need precision too. Great to hear that those settings got you some noticed improvement.
Definitely a needed product for finishing and gap or hole filling. The sticky, gel-like consistency has some uses and probably can be thinned down slightly if you need a bit more flowability but not runny like using resin from a bottle would be. On the other side, having a less sticky, more “putty” like consistency, like “milliput” or like “plumber’s putty” (or any number of uv-curing or air-curing resin putties you can find at your hardware store, would be great from Funcrecol, if they wanted to make such a thing.
They will be watching this video, so the feedback will be noted.
Of all the models you could use you had to use that one
Sorry. I kind of thought about it later when doing the video.
It's called speaking to the customer base lol

I swear Lechee should hire you to do these videos for them. I've learned more watching your videos that all the videos that Lechee has on their web site. Thank you very much !!
Wow, thank you! I really appreciate that.
Amazing job, thanks!
Our pleasure!
Could you do a video explaining how to print stuff flat on the buildplate with no supports. I used to be able to get mine to work just fine but since the update things are coming out too thick when I print them eg. Print is flat and supposed to be 3-4mm but it coming out as 7mm thick and I haven't any idea how to figure out why or how to fix it? Bottom layers overexposed? or resin too cold? or even is my printer mad that I sneezed in it's presence 😂 any help greatly appreciated
I did an off the build episode a little while back, check this out maybe it can help. th-cam.com/video/YL8WMMJ4rA8/w-d-xo.html One thing to do for sure is to lower the initial cure times by about 5 seconds if you want to eliminate the elephants foot.
