Does the CE or AD begin with AD 1? There’s no AD 0. Or does it begin on the birth year of Jesus Christ? The birth of Jesus Christ is placed at between 6 to 4 BCE or BC.
You are correct, there is no year 0. The last BC date is 1 BC, and that switches over to AD 1. When the AD (anno Domini, "in the year of the Lord") and BC (before Christ) terms were first used in the 6th century by Dionysius Exiguus, they were intended to mark the calendar date for the birth year of Jesus of Nazareth. However, the more precise calculations that came with the establishment of the Gregorian calendar in the 16th century showed that Jesus was actually born a few years earlier. To avoid confusion, the calendar years were left intact, rather than being re-centered on the birth of Jesus.
Can you do a chronology on the Babylonian captivity of 70 years as prophesied by Jeremiah and Daniel?
Here is a post Pastor Kris did in 2019 on that topic. Thanks again for watching and for your questions. crossroadsbible.net/2019/11/19/daniel-and-the-70-years-of-jeremiah/@@sonnybello2327
Caleb married his daughter to his nephew not his brother.
You are correct, I mis-spoke. Thank you for the correction!

My friend, don't fall for the Helio model and don't change God's word. If the Bible says God stopped the sun then that means it's the sun that is moving. To come to any other conclusion is to "lean unto your own understanding", something God implores us NOT to do.
Don't overlook the fact that the Bible often uses figures of speech, brother. "The tongue of the righteous is choice silver" (Prov 10:20). "Saul and Jonathan were swifter than eagles and stronger than lions" (2 Sam 1:23). "Preach the gospel to every creature" (Matt 6:21). "I have been reduced to skin and bones, and have escaped death by the skin of my teeth" (Job 19:20). If you don't make allowance for these kinds of things, which are easily recognized aspects of normal and natural human speech, you will arrive at some very bizarre places. If God can use poetic speech (see Psalms and Proverbs!), why would we deny him the right to use figures of speech?
@@crossroadsbiblechurch3717 You're not alone. Most who identify as Christian hold their "Science" book in higher regard than the Bible. Its funny... you speak of "the Solar system" and the Earth's "rotation" as though they are gospel - you spoke of them as though it's a given. Those things aren't even questioned. It's God's word that is put through the ringer, especially when it conflicts with what Sciencism or Scientism says. You seem like a pretty laid back fella and I don't mean to give you a hard time, I'm trying to wake you up. God's word (KJB) is true, "Science falsely so called" is exactly that - It's false knowledge. I'll leave you with this... Joshua 10:12-13 is corroborated by psalm 19:6, (the sun has a "circuit"), Job 9-7: the sun is commanded to move or not move. Isaiah 38:8 "so the SUN return ten degrees. The sun moves! Check out one of my recent videos where I call out some gatekeeper "Christians".
Baffles me how nobody in the academic world has solved the Judges timeline yet. Collapsing the 18 year Joint oppression of Philistines and Ammon with that of the 40 years of Philistines isn't the correct solution btw
Amen and Peace is with us.
Thank you for posting this video. Biblical chronology can be very interesting and I have tried to come up with my own timelines. One point you mentioned was the possibility of the shortened sojourn in Egypt based on the LXX. I think this may be more plausible since there was only 3 generations between Jacob and Moses (Exodus 6), although I don't know why Beitzel picked 215 years.
I think a good summary is given by Paul Ray in "The Duration of the Israelite Sojourn in Egypt," 2012. He also notes the short number of generations given in Exodus 6, but also that 12 generations are given for the same period in passages like Num 26:35-36 and 1 Chr 7:20-27. This may be an indication that the Exodus 6 list is abbreviated, a common convention in the Hebrew genealogies.
@@krisudd3998 Thank you very much! I just read the article by Paul Ray and see that there is so much more to this story. I am inspired me to dive even deeper.
You are assuming 931 BC for the death of Solomon because it is not a contested date? Really. I stopped listening at that point.
The second session demonstrates the reliability of the reign lengths of the kings of Israel and Judah as recorded in the Hebrew Bible. There may be enough variance to shift it by a year or so in either direction, but not more. This also aligns with Egyptian and Assyrian/Babylonian dates that are derived independently.
