Retired Professional Engineer (EE) and Project Manager. At one time, I was privileged to do a large amount of travel for business. Personal time was limited, but I was able to walk around many European cities, see the pyramids, and more, view the Reclining Buddha, and more, much more. For a photography hobbyist, it was a fine life. Particularly gratified to spend the final year and a half before retirement in South Africa, a magical country for any person with a camera, knife and fork, and wine glass.

Rich Builds A Rocking Chair

Rich has a daughter who just had a baby! Early this year, he decided to build a rocking chair for her from plans. Here is a short documentary about the building and the presentation. Next time, I will have more audio equipment and the skills to use it.

EXCELLO MILL - Beast to Basement x11
มุมมอง 2.8K11 หลายเดือนก่อน
Peter bought a large Milling Machine. It needed to go to the workshop. This is a video of the team and machines that were required. It does not show the many hours Peter and others devoted to planning and preparation. This version is speeded up to 5min 59sec as per Peter's request. More to come soon.

Coming along nicely! Thanks for sharing.. Looking forward to next video
@@DK-vx1zc The next video will show scale mounting on more Axies and the Display unit.
Looks great. What a clean shop, too! Tell me about the paint- did you spray or brush? Oil enamel or single stage epoxy? Do you have specific color match? I think it's RAL6021 (Pale Green, very similar to the old General International Canadian-built woodworking tools.)
@johnkahrs : My friend does have a nice shop and hopes to make it a bit dirtier Real Soon Now after adding DROs to the mill. I can't answer your questions about the paint, pretty sure he used a brush though. I have sent him your comment by email. For some reason, I could not use my iPad to copy your reply, had to fire up the desktop. Hopefully, he will reply and I will send it on to you. Thanks for the comment.
My friend replied to me: Hi Ed, The machine is circa 1967 and almost certainly coated in lead based paint. After 1974 all paint had to be lead free. I consulted with a Benjamin Moore outlet and they recommended a special latex primer to adhere to oil based paint and did a colour match to the original colour for the latex topcoat. Application was via a 4” roller for the most part, two coats of primer, two coats of colour. I really didn’t want to get involved in removing the lead paint and judged the over coating to be the best route. So far, it’s working fine. Stay well. P
This video is garbage. You have zero skills See, i can troll videos and make uninformed comments too.
Awesome video!
Glad you enjoyed it
Amazing Ed!
Thank you. Was intended more for the audio, of course. Hope that was what interested you.
Beautiful views!
Thank you.
Looks like you're cruising Ed! Love it! How good do those mountains look too!
I used to love cruising. Got too old.
i love the beast
Yes, truly lovable. More to come in April, May as installation finalizes.
hell yeah
Yea!
What a Beast!
It is indeed. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Good stuff mate!
Thanks! Old video now.
Yes Derick!
Derick is the local go to guy for tree trimming. I should have done a better job to show this team member moving from branch to branch like a ballet dancer.
NICE!
The owner was delighted with the addition.
YAY! Nicely done.. thanks for sharing... Looking forward to seeing you use the mill..
My friend is looking forward to using it, and his son too! I just do the video documentation. I enjoy it and will certainly show it in use. May or June timeframe likely.
Totally amazed with your ingenuity in getting the XLO down into the basement! I'm beyond impressed.
My friend, the owner did most of the planning. I was the sounding board, and minor contributor. We are both graduates of the U of Waterloo, 1971. He, Mechanical, me, Electrical. His son is a Tool and Die maker and made significant efforts in the preparation, move, and reassembly. The entire crew had a great time, no arguments, and did a great job.
Rob was a private pilot. He took me up once.
Fly high :(
Glorious days Ed, my oldest memory is only from the 2010's I envy the family you have and hope I can make the people like you did some day
Glad you enjoyed the photos. The technical quality of cameras affordable by average folks in the first half of the last century wasn’t what we enjoy today. Scanning can sometimes improve the appearance. Most of these are from St. John’s, Newfoundland.
Progress! Loooking good..Thanks for sharing
Next video: head onto ram. Done.
heat ❤🔥❤🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hi. Nice to see you. Glad you liked it.
nice !
Thanks! Version with narration being considered. Subscribe and share this video if you care to.
And I thought putting my mill in shop was a PIMA. 😮😊
My friend did a lot of prep work, disassembly, cleaning, painting. He consulted his fellow mechanical engineers, others, and me. We devised a ramp, order of operations, rented the excavator and crew, and you saw the fine result. We are planning a reasonable length narrated version. No timeline established for that yet.
Wow that's pretty cool !!
Even better at the time. Great crew, and no injuries.
I hope your build went great 👍🏾
It went very well. Very happy with performance. 16 cores and 64GB RAM does a fine job.

Wow that's very cool
Yes, my friend’s son is a tool and die maker, so it will be useful.
glorious day :D
It was a while ago, but yes, quite lovely, on Vancouver Island.
wut da freak!?
These were used in factories, made in London ON as well as in the US. This one was used in a school and is in good shape.
Glad to see you back Edward!
Thank you for your sticking around. More to come, once I learn more about editing. Takes time, frustrating at first. Would be impossible without some good TH-cam experts, and even then it seems every word of every step must be noticed, used, and practiced.
i enjoyed the view👍👍
Thank you and welcome.

Thank you for commenting. Unfortunately, I do not know what “promo sm” means.
Awesome news! ❤😮
Thank you.
Hey Ed! Just checking in, how are you doing, bub? Hope things are going well for you. Sincerely, Tyler
Both my wife and I have been well throughout the pandemic. No Covid, no flu. 5 Covid shots so far, plus an annual flu shot. But, we stayed in a lot. Can’t do that old exercise routine any more. Eyesight excellent since Cataract surgery last January. Trifocals plus astigmatism correction. No glasses, except for wine…
Congratulations on the 20 subscription friend
Thanks! 😃
Hello ed my name is muhammad and i am your 20th subscriber
Welcome! I’m amazed and somewhat ashamed. I really must try to add some reasonable content for the 20 of you!
Great video keep creating!
Kind of you. I have a lot of opinions. Most of them are probably best kept to myself! Still, it would be great if I can figure out some theme that I could embark out that would be both sustainable and interesting to a decent sized audience.
Wow I remember when you were at 10 subs. Bro... Your almost at 20!!!!!
Thanks for subscribing. The pressure to make some videos is building. Fortunately, I have something or somethings to tell…
@@EdwardKilner Ed I like the pfp good news man I hope to see you posting soon :D
Happy Thanksgiving 2021 to all of you. For those who are waiting for videos, I now have a mic! And, I have made notes for some of my thoughts. Just have to tone them down a bit … . I see the seasonal flu shots advertised, and booster Covid-19 coming. My wife and I will be first in line as always. Please join us there, for yourselves and everyone you care about.
Wow that’s great to hear Ed sorry I didn’t see this sooner we’re glad to hear and can’t wait it sounds great :D
Have great health to come too!
Thanks Ed! We're all very excited to see what you have planned. Did the shot go well?
Thanks everyone. No drama with the flu shots, none at all. We got the Old Fart super strength shots. Looks like Covid-19 boosters will be coming shortly and we will be in line again after November 19. Hope the best for all of you - this pandemic is not over yet.
ed I know it's been over a year since you've uploaded but I think it would be very delightful for us the viewers to get a update video I hope to see you uploading just one video I really hope to see more videos from you even if it is just one but just wanted to check in and encourage you to never lose hope man!
Very kind of you.
Just read your comment. I am smiling widely. I have pondered on doing more videos, even with better orchestration. I think a few more might renew my interest, but I really don’t have the desire to do it full time.
happy late one year anniversary of this video! i've been re-watching it from time to time and quite love it. it refills my hope for humanity! we all miss your beautifully orchestrated videos. please come back one day! we all hope you are well!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice Friend...A new friend👍🏻 Hope to see you around 🔔🔔🌹
Thank you, I will
hey ed! hope youre doing well. its been quite a while since you last uploaded! are you still planning on making videos? i assure you many people are waiting for the uploads.
I am quite well. We were able to register for a COVID-19 vaccination at midnight last night. No appointment day and time yet. As far as videos, I am too likely to get myself in trouble with a rant against politicians and deniers. Still, I should write some scripts soon. Thanks for checking in and for the encouragement.
Glad to hear it Ed can’t wait to see what you put out there based off everything else I’ve enjoyed hope to see you uploading soon
Wow Ed I just stumbled on your message! I am very happy to hear about your condition and would love to see many videos in the future! :)
