Trying to repair a Gameboy (DMG01) with various faults

Hi everyone welcome to my channel. This video follows. My attempt at repairing an original gameboy with various issues. Can I get it working like new again? Thanks for watching and please like and subscribe
Job well done sir! 👏 👏 super informative as well. Thank you for this!
I can't get mine to show any picture ,sound or anything
I would say it like a kid threw their DSi and was too scared to tell their parents like THEY PAID FOR UR DSI
just tried cleaning my DSi card slot the same way and it worked, after not using it for years thinking it was broken lol
What kind of liquid did you use
@@joeyk884 isopropyl alcohol
On gameboys, no matter which model, ALWAYS clean the power switch and volume wheel before doing anything, 99% of the broken devices will just straight up work again, it's a really dumb design flaw
Last week 7 decided to open up my dsi xl and did swap the bottom touchscreen, only swap the touchscreen part I'm not swapping the entire bottom screen. And then I decided to take the extra miles to clean up the top screen as well, before I take it apart my dsi xl is working fine. But after I put it back together, my dsi xl is not boot up. Not even a single led turn on, but when i plug the charger it's just blinking orange led. Been trying all the internet advice like re seating ribbons cable, re seating the battery, but nothing happens. checking out the f1 f2 fuse it's looks ok because i don't have multimeter. Scrape some of the power pins but still no luck, please help me any advice is much appreciated. Thank you
❤❤❤
Great video and some useful tips to find a fix. I do have a question though. Our Super Nintendo Switches on (power) has sound and shows up visually on the our LG tv, like yours. However, after around 20/30 seconds the screen fades out and the sound remains. Would you happen to know why this is happening?

Omg thank u soo much bro it’s been bothering me soo much
Any other possible issues that you’ve encountered with this problem? I have an AGB-001 with the same issue. Power switch on and the green LED flickers and shuts off. Push the power switch to off and the LED flickers again and the speaker makes a pop sound. I desoldered the switch plate and cleaned all the contact points in and I have good continuity. Checked the F1 fuse and have continuity. Board is clean and I see zero signs of corrosion anywhere. Any other components that would cause this issue? Thanks
sounds like a capacitor issue. I would recap your device and then look if it works again (I straight up recommend always recapping your devices btw, those components are just screaming "I wanna die" after 30 years)
btw, when recapping your device, if you plan to put mods in, I recommend recapping the highest uf cap with a ~200-400uf higher cap
What are you using to clean the contacts?
its called IPA
What size bulb? Ours is missing.
Good job 👍
Thanks
Hello, thanks for the information, I replaced the wifi card in my dsi, but I'm still getting the same error when I try to open any app
Did you resolve the problem? Because I have the same problem
@@jorgemartinestradatejeda5633 Actually, no... I still can't open any app on the DSi.
@@jorgemartinestradatejeda5633 me too for DSi🥺
Same for me, were you able to fix it?
Actually, no... still having the same problem
For me, hitting it a couple times and pressing all the buttons at the same time worked! Hopefully this might work for others with this problem too!
TipJapanese Supwr Famicom gamepaks are cheap compared with pal snes ones do remember you'll need a converter 😂
This happened to my dsi and I tried fixing it but couldn’t get it open. Its just sitting on my shelf being sad
😂same
What you have (had) there was a late model (1-chip) SNES. These are sought after due to them having superior quality video output compared to the earlier 2-chip models
i was searching for a high voltage modification of this game. i guess no one made it yet
As a kid I literally thought you got a shock if you messed up. Now I want that version of the game.
If your getting error whilst inserting the cartridge. Keep a little pressure on it and keep the pressure on as you switch on
you’re a lifesaver thank you so much
would the device work if you were to completely remove the wifi card?
No, the wifi chip has the system's bios so it would probably work even less
Im going to try to fix mine just like that, it has the same problem, gonna have to do some tests, i learned a lot thanks 😁
Hey, I opened the snes, unpluged the controller slot thing and when I pluged it again it wouldnt turn on, what can that be? Nice video by the way
The main fuse.
The Cartridge connector on the snes is actually not directly soldered to the board, it is pushed on to a primary connector, here is where most issues occur, you can gently pry off this top connector after you remove the two screws holding it in place and clean those connections as well for better stability. nice work getting the cable apart. you can also get an RGB cable which gives the best possible picture quality
There are 2 snes cartridge connector types. One is soldered directly to the board. The other type isn't. I believe this model came with the one soldered to the board
@@justinlira1841 at least where I live I never seen the other type. But it looks like a single soldered part when mounted as you still solder the bottom part to the board. Could be different depending where you live. I have loads of new you can split. It fits the same way when you press it together
Nice job!
Tweezer Wire Gets Routed In The Channel Provided Underneath & Comes Out Top Left Edge Of The Head
Great video nice explaining !!!
I have reflowed all the ic's on the WiFi module with flux. That worked as well. Thank you very much
Wow great video!
My Dsi have the error OOOFEOO can you make a video about how to fix a dsi xl not booting up with the error code I had the dsi xl for. 12 months now is not working
What you need to do is get a new wifi card for it I had the same problem since new and fixed it a couple years. Who still works great to this day
i have this exact same problem with the snes. it powers on, but no video signal
Have you tried another cable or use the same video cable on a N64 or GameCube?
Sir what if the red light is blinking? And also no video just blinking light? I've bought the same one but i can't use it.
Try another game. Blinking light is pretty unusual, the only reason I can think of off the top of my head is that the lockout chip on the cartridge is faulty (or it's a wrong region one).
I read on some web that the bios of the dsi is installed in the wifi module, so I think the problem of the wifi card is more a software problem than a hardware one.
I hope you will continue making more content!
I get this a lot then later on in the day it’s back to normal and I can play and use it .
Nice fix, I'd of prolly been fault finding the console for hours. Just goes to show, don't listen to the seller's diagnosis as it can throw you off finding the actual fault
hello i have an old ds that has all my old photos and flip notes and voice recordings i refuse to reset it but mine displays the same message bought a new wifi card and everything still doesnt work gave up and a few months later wanted to attempt to fix it again i remeber the problem happened when i bought an action replay maybe thats the cause for mine any ideas on a fix ?
Well done 😎
nice job lad
Imagine a child booting up their DSi XL just to not even see the startup screen or DSi menu, but to get an error screen. That would be very disappointing.
That error scared the heck out of me when I was younger. I had that same problem with my blue DSi, since it would boot up, but can’t open any applications and would show an error.
Mine was one of the battery contacts was actual broken possibly battery corrosion.
NOOICE!
NOOICE!
This is oddly satisfying
Like the vid, keep'em coming.
Thanks
When I was a kid my friend had this game. I was sooo envious of her. It seemed so advanced at the time. That was incredible that after all those years you still got it to work.
I remember playing this as a kid, great game!
