Just a regular bloke and his son with a passion for all things automotive really. Follow the trials and tribulations of restoring and running a few old cars and bikes.
I hope a realistic look at keeping cars running, or even delving in to new territory with some exciting new projects, whilst having day jobs and trying to fit everything in and around families and work!

It’s much easier if you pull the radiator out first
@williamthomas5223 to be honest I wanted to make sure I undid the least amount possible, as i had no idea even if any of the clips would undo! but yes it would have been much easier with the radiator out of the way
Pumping the gas pedal , with an SU carb , does nothing . There is no accelerator pump. Normal start procedure when cold , is full choke , crank till it starts , then progressively push the choke in as the engine warms . Hot start , touch nothing , just work the key . Nice woody .
I think to be honest it's a hangover from my twin 40 dcoe carburettor Mini however it does normally start first turn of the key but I appreciate your advice many thanks
I actually prefer the rat mog, the noise is more likely the dynamo bearing, buy a nice shiny water pump for Ronald and steal his for the rat mog,
I appreciate that and have already removed Ronald water pump!!
He did
Could it be the timing chain that is rattling
Just buy a new water pump they only £27
@williamthomas5223 it could be thats why i was asking the experts!
Ain’t nobody nicking the wheels of that we are not in the 90’s anymore just put some normal nuts on
Hi Mike. Thats exactly what I have done now. Still got no idea where the original key went!
@ they are bit like the 10mm sometimes blink and they gone
I replaced my seats with bmw mini r56 seats they make life much more comfortable
@@williamthomas5223 they seem a good choice. Was it an easy job?
Very easy with the adapter brackets that you can buy you use the existing front brackets and you drill two holes in the back to secure they come with all the bolts you need I can send the seller information and some pics if you want
@williamthomas5223 that would be amazing if you dont mind!!
By all means drop me the info to kwa450@gmail.com many thanks!@williamthomas5223
It's always a relief when you get that first real journey under your belt.
Absolutely! I have bene using the car on short journeys. but London at 5pm was a sterner test!!
Mine jumps out of second gear.
@stevegray9828 i dont have that issue (yet!) But 1st can be tricky to find
Great video 👍. 1st gear should be easy to find but 3rd can be an issue and I sometimes crunch the gearbox.
Yes i have to say 3rd can be tricky too!
Early modle Mag wheels need to be checked frequently as the parallel nuts always come loose . This problem wasn't fixed until they set steel tapers into the wheels .
@@HowardKneebone i genuinely really appreciate your words and will definitely keep an eye on them! Much appreciated!
I own a 1963 4 door saloon
Great video 👍
Thanks 👍 appreciate that!
Morris Minors are known to be over cooled with their huge radiators so no issues with overheating
Many Thanks! appreciate that!
Totally normal for the long travel on the gear stick. Great video. Just subscribed today 👍
Yes. The XJR is expensive to run, as you'd expect. However, it is worth EVERY penny.
Fix her.
Nice timing mate, just a couple of days after a London authority agreed out of court to a lady whose daughter had died of air pollution. My some suffers from asthma, and any improvements to London air is literally a life saver. I don't care that people find a slight inconvenience as long as it stops children from an early death.
@@charlieunderwood1311 i dont agree. But, as i said. Just my thoughts
And, for the record, i have asthma too.
I love this 👏🏻
Don't apologise, your just highlighting what other's might be thinking and too scared to speak out. Well done!
Absolutely 💯 on the money, and where do the batteries go when they no longer charge, landfill. Not very environmentally friendly
Super car and glad to see it saved. Keep 'em coming!
Overfuelled and hydrolocked? Either that or something was ready to go, and the static revs finished it off
@JackSteedman yes i guess the static revs did it. Still not sure exactly what went wrong. But its where i go now!?!

Mend her
A beautiful and strong car!! Our entire family used to be accommodated for trip back home after a visit to zoo in Mumbai say around 1955 to 1965 in the Moris Mini taxi for a paltry fare of one rupee for covering a distance of 25 kms.
40s?
They are indeed!
looks ok to me , keep up the good work 👍
It's subject on my mind but relative to the DVLA and their points system - what is original - what is a period fitting or adding or taking away from the monocoque body shell?
Such a subjective thing isn't it. As soon as you do something to a car to personalise it, its "modified" - from standard. I guess I'm similar vintage to you and being modifying cars since I was 17 and have never left any car I have owned standard. I had a 998 Cooper back in the day and yes, those 7" brakes were not brilliant. a properly adjusted twin cylinder "Minifin" drum would outperform them. I put 7.5" Cooper S brakes on it as soon as I was able to.
I couldn't agree more! It just makes me curious....if modifying was such a "crime" (so to speak, surely we wouldn't have Abarth, AMG, Hartge, Downton, Oselli, etc etc!
brill will be after some advice soon as just got myself another project minor👍
Keep up the good work
@@williamthomas5223 many thanks for your encouragement it's a slow process but we are getting there
Solid colour cars were not laquered from the factory, only metalic, it also needs the front bumper putting right, the lower lip is pushed out because the towing eye should be visable, its smokey because the valve stem oil seals need doing,
I got the same car in topaz with the same wheels. Like it a lot, it's loud enough for me. It makes a nice angry noise when it downshifts and is not short on power.
Junker
😂 one man's junk is another man's gold
no shorts that day ? bumper could be repaired if you taked your time !

@freiduumforall8843 i appreciate very much. Its a learning curve but i hope it is at least realistic. My son and i have some interesting things developing i hope!
I appreciate the upload and your thoughts on your Jaguar, but can you get away from the ridiculous notion of filming in portrait…it just looks dumb.
Swapped it over, it's not America!!!!!!!!
I think there’s quite a lot. The problem being, in my opinion… people aren’t opening their eyes to potential. Everyone is buying for an “investment” and not the ENJOYMENT. People are too set in their ways with certain cars having to be a certain way because that’s how they like it, but when the reality is the “Original” car from the 70’s with modern upgrades to suspension components, wheels etc will make the world of positive difference to the car. I personally feel a “Resto-mod” type approach to be my favourite.
That looks absolutely radical. Imagine if it looked like mr Beans car lol
Hi mate as you know I do not know anything about cars but I enjoy watching this, ps you look a lot happier there than the other place
