Great product, looking forward to getting a few of these HempBlockHomes up in the UK this year!
Innovative product usage😀👍👍 Thoughtful design 😁👍👍 Climate alarmist narrative 🙄👎👎
Appreciate the video. I’ve been wanting to see how hempcrete homes hold up. It seems there is some mold forming on the exterior in areas that don’t get much sunlight. Is this a challenge with this type of construction?
This is awesome 😊 hi from Batemans Bay 👋
Thanks buddy!
How much does it cost per bag or pallet ? Also roughly how many pallets for a modest size home ?
So answer the question how termite proof are they
Thanks for your question! :) Well, there's no bugs in this one! Hempcrete has a high lime component which the termites don't like. It caustic to them. And whilst it's meant to be completely termite resistant best practice is to still use ant caps or similar in the footings.
Beautiful Music 😂. ☝️❤️✌️🌍🙏🎶
❤ great use of the world best plant , Great Stuff .👍
Well siad buddy!
Components made in France , seems another Australian industry potential requires imported parts. Otherwise fantastic product.
So true! Johan can scale this to Australia, USA or wherever. The hemp building industry in general is at it's very early stages, but it's come very far in the past few years and it will go much further in the next few years!
@@JeremyThomas_Environmentarian Amazing stuff, I"m hoping to use it for a future build in South Australia. Keen to see more australian grown and processed hemp products as per Bernie's comment. I love Earthships but they require too much labour and I'm thinking Hemp Block is the logical next choice. What's the lead time for the materials? What was the cost for a building of this size? How is hemp block to deal with councils/permits? The logistics of this needs to make sense - Although can appreciate early adopter tax. Cheers, Mark.
What's it like for termites ??? cheers.
@@navaho5430 great question! The lime component makes it pretty much bug proof. For traditional stick/wood frame houses it’s advised to have ant caps, but I can’t see how they get through the hempcrete blocks considering the hydrated lime. It would be great to test this somehow some day!
Johan is a legend, we need more HempBlock homes in Australia
Nice job Jeremy - good luck with future endeavours 🙂
LOVE THIS !!!!

Thanks for all the comments, thumbs up and more everyone! I am editing the next episode which should be out in a week or so. If you want to go back there are some slightly less polished, but still very interesting videos, on Season 2 & 1. th-cam.com/play/PLf1PE183xZVJ41h0RGZQfQeJc6AnZBDZQ.html
Great house! Do the owners have any plans, blueprints, or anything their willing to share? We'd love to duplicate it here in our area!
Hi there, Kirstie Wulf from Shelter Building Design is the person to contact about this. Feel free to email me directly and I can e-introduce you to her....
Excellent, thanks for making this and sharing your hemp journey, Jeremy!
Thanks buddy, I appreciate the kind words...
Jeremy, can you point me to any links to videos of the three day course that came out yesterday please?
Hi Dave, AHM have a few coming up www.hempmasonry.com.au/workshops/ Not sure when the next HempBOCK one will be. Signing up to the monthly newsletter at www.hempbuilding.au would be your best bet to stay across upcoming workshops.
Amazing!!!! Bring more of this
Oooh exciting! Great product.
Glad you think it's a great product! It's been a lot of fun to make this episode.
Great stuff. Keen to see it more up here in FNQ 👍
Thanks! We're trying to get the word out :)

A very well put together video and presentation. Obviously experienced competent Techs the Seniors amongst it. Three thumbs up. Thank you for the video invite. Stay with this. very impressive.
I love the idea of this material, it makes sense for so many reasons. We hope to be able to attend a training course and to build with it one day!
Great to see the progress in the hemp industry in Australia. The world needs a restart on its health and Hemp will be a part of that. We're trying to get things moving faster here in the US, but we can't seem to be United these days, even for our own good.
The cost and ease in retrofit would make this an unrivaled in adding to interior side of factory/industrial shed walls
Great point. And thats kind of how it came back into use. In France an engineer wanted to use old historic barns/stone buildings for residential but they were too cold and draughty. So the interior walls had hempcrete cast against them, rendered, and there is your lovely home... Check out the Shed to home video here - th-cam.com/video/C64yevoQncc/w-d-xo.html
What a lovely home
I think so too. Thanks for commenting!
do we have a number on how much a comparable home would cost? like roughly...in usd 😬
I wonder if the house costs less than the utilities? water, solar, plumbing?
Great looking home
thanks for watching and commenting buddy! :)
Do you have a full video of this project
@@gilberttigere5116 not yet. Hoping to one day though!
@JeremyThomas_Environmentarian thank you i am binging on anything to do with hemp and wondering how big and high I can go on hemp. Can I also replace hemp with wood chip anyone please help with infor or pros and cons
is there a video on the complete build? I want to know if strip foundations are enough or its necessary to make it a slab. Would buy a course if available, thanks.
Hi mate, this house was a retrofit and there is a longer video with much more info. It's the Queenslander one. Yes, strip foundations will work but a slab has more thermal mass to regulate the internal temperatures. I'd like to build a structure on piers. Once the walls were complete use the fix form panels onto underside of floor bearers and fill the cavity with hempcrete insulation. This would provide both insulation and thermal mass without the need for truck loads of concrete. What do you think?
I run the Hemp Building Directory at www.hempbuilding.au where there is a bunch more info...
Thanks Jeremy, particularly for the details on internal wall finishing.
No worries. Glad you liked it and I appreciate the specific comment!

The bathroom mosaic is an interpretation of Hokusai's "Great Wave off Kanazawa". Over a year, the house produces more electricity than it uses.
Thanks Kirstie for this extra info! Good to know :)
Keep em coming, people need to see to believe and the more you can show, the more people will make the choice to build with a more durable medium for longevity, resilience, and health.
Thanks for the comment buddy! I'll do my best to keep em coming but I gotta hustle to pay rent and look after my daughter solo so I can only do what I can... Loving the grand designs style of this video.
Thanks Amelia!
Great video, and interesting to see bigger forms being used. How do you do our curves? With moulding or once the form is removed? Thanks
Thanks! Create the form you want with molding first. 1/4 cut PVC pipes can work well. If going off form hempceret that one must be diligent with the packing and tamping but if it's rendered then you can refine the cures with render layers...

Is Hemp the same as Marijuana?
Hi Levi, Marijuana was a word created to demonise all forms of cannabis. Hemp is in the cannabis family. It has been used for 1000s of years by humans for all kinds of things. The seeds are super food with high protein, omega 3&6. The fibre has 1000s of uses from clothes (the first jeans were made from hemp) to paper (the declaration of independence was first made from hemp) to rope and sails (the English Navy ruled the world thanks to hemp) and building materials from the Romans to modern day highly efficient hempcrete passive houses.
