TAMRON 17-50mm F4 vs TAMRON 20-40mm F2.8 - Mini COMPARISON
I've been using the Tamron 17-50mm F4 lens for a while now. Recently I had a chance to buy the Tamron 20-40mm F2.8 on a very reasonable used price. I'm trying to compare them and give a brief overview of them.

    Beautiful landscape with bonus sheep! I bought the Tamron 20-40 to supplant my Tamron 17-28 as I always found that I wanted a bit more reach than 28 but also didn't want to keep changing lenses. Best workhorse lens is Tamron's 28-200 zoom.

      I agree with what you said about the 28-200mm. I had it and loved it. I only sold it as I swapped to a 2-lens setup with the 17-50 and 50-400.

    Good comparison! Personally own the 20-40 so a little biased. Would love a little more reach than 40mm but for the size it’s perfect for an edc

    I have the Loxia 21 and the 35, and I love using both. Particularly these are both excellent at creating aperture stars at middle apertures without losing too much light by stopping to tiny apertures. I owned and then sold the Voigtlander 50mm f2 Apo-Lanthar. It was a nice handling and performing lens, but the lack of a gasket exposed my cameras to damage unless I taped over the lens mount when in use. Thus the Voigtlander never traveled with me. Lenses that stay at home are not of value to me.

      p.s. I also use the Think Tank Rotation 22, and it always travels with me, easily sliding under airline seats while my small roll bag is in the overhead bin.

    Hi Marcell, That's a beautiful location you chose for this comparison. The shot at 15:06 looks wonderful. I believe you've made the right decision. I've read that this Voigtländer has poor midframe performance. Maybe if you get a chance, you could test out the Voigtländer 21mm F/1.4. I've read some say that it is better then the Loxia.

    I had the Loxia 21 and sold it like you when I acquired the Voigtlander 21. I missed the Loxia very much and repurchased the Loxia 21. I’ve decided to keep both as they both are great lenses that produce amazing results and each has their strengths and weaknesses. Maybe reconsider selling the Voigtlander? You might at times miss the small size and weight. Regardless I enjoyed your video!

      No, I haven't. Half a year ago I made a decision to step away from Benro. I upgraded from this tripod to their Tortoise lineup. I had two of them but unfortunately both had problems. One with the legs the other with the ball head. Hence I decided I wasn't going to buy my next one from them.

    I guess what you call an adapter might also serve as a short center column. Try to screw the center column on the removable leg, you'll might get an even higher monopod.

    • @lightsandtones
      @lightsandtones 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Someone already ask this question but unfortunately you can't. You can push the centre column up to the point where you can use it horizontally. But it's not possible to push through fully this is how it's constructed. So you can't attach anything else instead of the original centre column.

  • @panchulovikingo9763
    @panchulovikingo9763 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    How big is the tripod with the head without the column raised and the monopod with the head?

    • @lightsandtones
      @lightsandtones 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, actually it's in the video, without the column raised it's 135.5cm. So you just have to add the height of your head to that. Unfortunately I don't know the height of the monopod.
