How will the gold finish hold up after months and years of use ? Do they last?
Hi! Thanks for your interest. In regard to your question about the gold finish on our rotors. Our 4000 Series rotors use heat resistant paint and our 5000 series have anodised hats. Brake rotors are subject to the most extreme conditions... temperature, water, other liquids, road contamination etc. The life expectancy of the colour is extremely subjective to the road and driving conditions.

Lol that voice is Andrew from Motive on TH-cam 😂
Has DBA made any improvements to their rotors over the years?
Why is that anti squeal applied on the outer side of the pad? What would that do? 🤔
🤦🏻♂️. Correct it should be outside for the caliper.
It just helps prevent any squeaking if there is any. As long as the caliper brake pad slide surfaces have some anti seize on them and the slide pins are greased properly lubricated and the rubber boots are clean and not ripped the brakes should perform fine and have no noise. Normally new brake rotors and pads are nice and quiet but what a lot of mechanics don't do is check or service the brake rotors and then you have issues with brake rotors warping and you wonder why and or if DBA are crap ect... so make sure your brake calipers are in good condition overall before fitting DBA rotors to your vehicle for the best results.
@RBFR01 @RBFR01 the outer side of the pad has no friction on anything. I get what your saying but there is zero benefit by applying anti squeal to the outside of a pad. The outside part of a pad does not rub on anything. May as well add some anti squeal to the outside of my brake lines, what's that going to do.

I recent track night I saw a photo of my car braking and the rotors were glowing red . The rotors are the 5000 series, is this ok
Hi Stewart, it depends on the temperature the rotors are reaching. You are best to check the heat paint markings on your rotors as discussed at 3:50 of this video. If all the paint markings have gone off you may want to look at the braking systems friction material and cooling methods. Send us a PM on Facebook if you have any further questions.
Hola, disculpa que coche tienes?? es muy potente, gracias
Juhu, yesterday I just saw that the brakes are now road legal in Europe. Can't wait to finally install them in my Toyota :-)
@1:25 you say to avoid using new pads and me rotors when bedding in this part has me confused, so do you put new rotors on first then drive a couple hundred miles then put new pads on and then bed the pads in?
Its not essential to bed in rotors and pads separately. When replacing either brake pads or rotors, it is recommended to bed the new component with the existing one rather than using both new components together. This is because new brake pads and rotors have a smooth, shiny surface due to the manufacturing process, and it takes some time for them to wear in and create a consistent surface.. By bedding new brake pads on old rotors, the pads are able to quickly conform to the shape and surface of the rotors, resulting in better initial braking performance. Similarly, bedding old brake pads on new rotors allows the pads to create a smooth and consistent surface on the new rotor, improving the longevity and performance of both components. Further, different types of brake pads and rotors require different bedding-in procedures. Generally, it is best to check the manufacturers recommended bedding in procedures for your specific applications.
I just bought the 5000 series for the front and the 4000 series for the rear; so far so good. I really like the feel of these rotors. These might be my permanent rotors of choice from here on out. Not to mention, they look really good behind my wheel.
I installed DBA T2 slotted rotors on my car a year ago and they have been awesome. I have had 0 problems and have not had them over heat and warp like the standard cheap rotors did. I am very happy with this product, thank you DBA! :)

Are the t2 good for off road use??
Hi, yes we recommend T2 for off road use, however if your 4wd has an increased GVM or is towing we suggest upgrading to the 4000 Series T3 rotors. Kind regards, DBA
Can you please make a video about the different dba pads, blue, green, orange and red and what makes them different. Thanks
TBH, that slotted and slotted-drilled design looks very RICE'y
Does DBA still make the gold rotor's? DBA2830X & DBA2809X ?
We certainly do. Please see dba.com.au/products/rotors-drums/street-series/ for our Street Series product range, or dba.com.au/au-part-finder/ to look up individual part numbers. Both part numbers you're quoting are active and in stock. Regards, DBA
Pads are orange color so gonna assume there the extreme ceramic pads & the rotors are t3 same as what im using, could be wrong tho 🤪
Good machine for the money, we have two verticals and two horizontals.
🄿🅁🄾🄼🄾🅂🄼
Without lap times to validate claims, the on track stuff is useless dribble.
Good clip and I am planning on getting the 4000 series slotted one piece rotors for a BMW E90 M3. I would like to get some ceramic based pads for this - mostly street use, some spirited driving here and there and the very occasional track day (one every year maybe). Is the performance street pad the go? Are they ceramic based? Brake dust reduction would be good. Would it also be best to use the existing pads for a while, or just change the lot and bed in using the progressive braking technique? Cheers!
Thanks for your message, Grant. Unfortunately the combination of characteristics you’re describing is difficult to achieve. Our only ceramic formulation are the ‘Street Series’ pads, however these are not suitable for spirited driving let alone track work. If you are looking for an all-round pad that can do road and light track work, our 'Xtreme Performance' is the way to go. It’s carbon fibre infused low metallic, which naturally means it is quite dusty though. A really well performing, ‘middle-of-the-road’ low dust pad is the 'Street Performance' pad that you mention. It’d be suitable for spirited driving, however not for the track. In terms of sequence of changing the components, either way is fine. You just want to be sure that the existing pads are level and not worn unevenly. If they are uneven, then we would suggest to put in new pads when changing the rotors. For further information, our ‘Buyers Guide - Friction’ can be found on our website under 'DBA Catalogues' Please feel free to email us at technical@dba.com.au if you have further questions.
@@discbrakesaustralia thanks for this - very helpful and much appreciated! Cheers!
@@discbrakesaustralia would u suggest that xtreme pads in the front and street performance in the back with dba 4000 t3 brake discs is good enough for a trackday? The Car is a '18 Audi S3.
@@adotorcida Hi Adrijan, thanks for making contact. Depends on the nature of the track day, number of laps and operating temperatures. Regarding pads our Xtreme Performance pads would suit for a 'hot lap' or so, however if you are looking to do a number of consecutive push laps (a race) than a race pad would be best. Generally speaking if your vehicle is near stock (ie no slick tyres or other major performance upgrades from original) XP pads would be ok for a few laps, however due to the nature of the pad compound and it being formulated for street use, a track session would reduce their service life. Regarding the rotors, yes 4000 Series rotors offer very good performance vs cost in a track day environment, providing that the car again is in original road registered condition with no major performance modifications. I hope this answers your question, if not please feel free to reach out to our technical department via email: technical@dba.com.au They can assist you further for more specific recommendations for your application. Kind regards, DBA
I have the X gold rotors and it started cracking. its disappointing to be honest
All drilled rotors will crack at some point
@@azza9575 Got drilled rotors since 2021 in my focus ST by polish company Mikoda. They are not top class, but they just have worn out, not cracked. I`m looking now for 4000 T3 because I like to use my ST`s abilities
Just ordered a set of T3 rotors and Xp pads my wrx
What type of rexy you got? Wanna get some for my 2002 bug. Easy power upgrades done now need to stop.
Which rotors and pads were used in this? It just calls it the DBA performance package. Is that 4000 series T3? T2? what pads? Would love to see a stopping difference between 4000 T3 and 5000 T3 with the same pads. Rotational mass vs the one piece rotor assembly. Cheers from Canada.
Now lets see a test of how many heat cycles before the rotors crack.
You said with the oem brakes the abs keeps cutting in !!!!! Abs has to do with tyre slip , rather than the brakes , if the oem brakes are crap you’d have less abs intrusion due to less tyre slip because the brakes wouldn’t be pulling up as quick , therefore not putting the tyres under as much duress compared to the performance brakes . Just thought I’d mention that as what you said didn’t make sense .
ABS cutting in is due to pedal fade from the fluid getting too hot and the pedal becoming spongy.
@@pheonixfps9248 no abs works through wheel slip recognition, not boiling brake fluid , pedal fade yes , but abs is only activated when there’s a difference between wheel speed from one tyre to another in correlation to vehicle speed
@@exploringsydneyandbeyond9059 no, some system do infact have a line pressure sensor and it will activate the abs system to aid in braking. Boiling brake fluid won't give the same pedal feel, hence the fade due to lower viscosity, the system picks up on the reduced pressure in the system, not the fluid boiling itself. Most european cars have these systems now days, and some Japanese manufacturers are starting to trickle it through. Many European manufacturers have different things in their systems, like VW awd system in the amarok being able to lock a front brake calliper so that the contacted wheel gains all the drive. Stability control systems can also have an affect on how often an abs system activates too. Don't assume that slip is the only reason abs activates.
@@pheonixfps9248 thanks for the info
Hi, im DBA user from Indonesia and i have a question, are the 4x4 survival series has different materials with the street series?
B9 Audi A4 fitments?
Disc Brakes Australia - I'm from the US, and I'm having some trouble trying to find exact information on a few things. I have an '06 EVO 9 GSR My questions: 1. Do you have a DBA-52218BLKS (5000 T3 slotted) equivalent for my EVO rear rotors? 2. If you do not have an equivalent 5000 T3 for the rear, is there any problem you see with running the 4000 T3 slotted DBA-4419S for the rear? The car would utilize the same brake pads, and from what I've noticed over the 10 years owning the car, the rear pads barely get used (compared to the front) even under the most extreme braking circumstances (plenty of pad left after multiple years of racing and 135mph+ braking). I noticed this with the Brembo pads as well as the Ferodo DS2500. 3. Where can I buy your new brake pads? The partnership with Advance Auto Parts does not list these brake pads or rotors at all. Could you please provide the exact part numbers for the brake pads for an EVO 8/9 please? 4. What are the downsides of utilizing the race pad on the street? Sometimes I drive my EVO to the track events or to car shows. Based on the DBA provided "brake pad performance graph," the friction coefficient (mu) and the temperature, it seems like it would have more stopping power even at low/cold temperature ranges than that of an actual street pad. 5. Is there any sort of sponsorship I could receive from DBA? I'm currently building a dual purpose 800+whp EVO that will see both the dragstrip and will circuit race over a few different states throughout the race season. I even plan on doing Pikes Peak once I get the suspension set up correctly. I'd love to help get the word out about your company and have a sponsor for my build. Thank you for any help you can provide.
Thanks so much for your enquiry. Would you be able to send this via a Facebook message to our team (facebook.com/DBAofficial/) or alternatively to inquiries@dba.com.au so that we can forward it on to the right people to help you out. Kind Regards, DBA
@@discbrakesaustralia Thank you for the information. I'm looking forward to next race season utilizing DBA rotors!
