      You can open and contribute to more than one ISA, but you can only deposit a maximum of £20,000 each tax year. So as long as you paid in the £20,000 in a previous tax year, then you could contribute £20,000 more this tax year to a different ISA.

    Chip is a digital savings and investment app, not a bank. It works by pooling customers’ deposits and using that combined buying power to negotiate with savings providers to find top market rates. So Chip's instant access account is actually provided by ClearBank. ClearBank is a UK authorised bank and part of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) which protects deposits of up to £85,000.

    Hi do you know what the bolt ons are about?

    • @FranMariee
      @FranMariee 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi! A bolt on raises your credit limit on your Loqbox Grow account. You can choose between an increase from the standard £500 to either £1000, £2000, or £5000. The idea behind this is that it should boost your credit score by increasing the amount of credit you have available and affecting your utilisation, which is a factor that influences your credit score. So basically it’s one way of boosting your credit score a bit more.

    I had the Hargeaves Lansdown S&S ISA for 23/24, but the biggest con for me were the fees for buying individual stocks. For 24/25 I’ve opened a Trading212 S&S ISA, but now that we have the flexibility of being able to have more than one ISA, I might use Hargreaves for funds only, if they have negotiated discounts and there are no fees. Really good channel btw 👍

    • @FranMariee
      @FranMariee 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you! Yes, I can see why it would be a con for you if you are investing in individual stocks. I predominantly invest in funds so I look at it from that perspective. But now that we can pay into more than one S&S ISA, you could have one for funds and one for individual stocks as you say. Hargreaves is definitely a great option for investing in funds, because there's no fee and the fund charges are very low.

    You missed gold. Having a gold proportion in an investment basket would have returned near 10% annually since it's replacement by fiat currency and I believe the etf fees on, say GLD are pretty low. It's also not strictly correlated to equities, meaning it doesn't go up & down with stocks over time, more with monetary & cost inflation (mined grades etc. average lower over time), as well as demand.

      This seems a crazy risky strategy to me: putting everything in a single foreign market in a single foreign currency. If you'd done this 20 years ago you'd be laughing, with falling £ and strong US growth - but the next 20 years are unlikely to pan out the same. Surely you'd want a bit of regional diversity? Surely you'd want a bit of domestic exposure?

    Thank you, I’m guessing this is all at a risk ? What would you recommend with zero risk for a sum of £200k Thanks in advance

    • @FranMariee
      @FranMariee หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, investing comes with an element of risk. The level of risk depends on what you are investing in. But these days, whatever you choose to do with your money, there is some level of risk. You can lower your risk by having a diversified portfolio. For example, a diversified portfolio of low cost index funds spreads your risk and allows you to realise the potential gains on offer. I would personally invest the money that way.

      Not zero risk but very low; a short term money market fund is at just over 5% return at the moment, maybe worth looking into that to lower your overall risk in your portfolio

      There are cash savings accounts around the 5% mark. If you were to split the sum across 3 different banks, the entire amount would covered by the FSCS. There's always the possibility that the UK goes bankrupt, but that would, I think, be the closest to zero risk you could hope for.

    My moneybox is saying I need to open the cash ISA with £500. But you are saying £1. Can anyone tell me how to start with £1?

    • @FranMariee
      @FranMariee หลายเดือนก่อน

      This video is about the Moneybox lifetime ISA, which you can open with £1. For the Moneybox cash ISA (not the lifetime ISA) you need to deposit £500 to open it.

      @markwaudby 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You can open the Cash ISA with £1 but youll only get the lower interest rate 0.75% so when you reach £500+ thats when you get the higher interest rate plus the added 1% bonus rate on top.

    Hi fran, do you know if you can pay it off anytime with no issues? I’ve got 4 months left on my account although my mortgage advisor is advising that some lenders may like to see this paid off

      I know you can definitely unlock your Loqbox at any time. They do say that unlocking early might affect your credit history if you haven’t made enough monthly payments. I think it might be worth reaching out to customer service if you want to find out more.

    Why is it charging me £20 a month ?

    • @FranMariee
      @FranMariee หลายเดือนก่อน

      The minimum you can save each month is £20, is that what you mean? You will get this money back at the end. That’s how Loqbox works. You pay in £20 per month and it is held until the end when you unlock your Loqbox. Because the total amount is reported as a loan that you are repaying, that’s what builds your credit score. If you mean the membership fee, it’s £2.50 per week and optional. The lite membership is free so you can downgrade to that.

    Could I open a S&S Lifetime ISA and a normal S&S ISA and invest in both?

    • @FranMariee
      @FranMariee หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, you can have both a lifetime ISA (S&S) and a S&S ISA and invest in both. You can save and invest up to £20,000 a year across all your ISAs.

    I’ve maxed out my allowance for the tax year across both stocks and shares isa and lifetime isa. I’m thinking of transfer all the money I have in my lifetime isa (noting I’ll lose the government bonus obviously) into my stocks and shares isa. Is this possible??
