Everyone was so trim!!

Such Beautiful People? ❤️ My faters family from TN. All played instruments. Blue grass, gospel & much more. So you can imagine our weekend's or just any gatherings. At one time they had their own radio station. I was born in 57. We were all very skinny and tall too. I'm a woman of 6ft tall.

Just an observation; the robot had been suggesting these old time , in the street films. Yesterday ; NYC - compared to the folks. Wow. Not a single soul came near to a smile in NYC . Big cities. No bueno

I'm sure there were plenty of reasons for people not to smile, but people were tough and stoic. There were less material distractions. The family unit was generally more cohesive.

Nowadays people go about like robots wearing headphones, or ear plugs or whatever they’re called. It’s difficult to say good morning to such people. R2D2 had more personality. It’s not that they don’t want to be completely unnoticed since quite a lot of the tech-adorned sporty types are bedecked in tattoos. Maybe somewhere etched into their flesh is a greeting to poor backwards folk like me. “Good morning: but keep your distance!” I suppose I am fed up with too much tech and the rigmarole now it is just to turn on the television or, ha, put on a record. It had all seemed effortless in the past. Recently I hired a car and was stumped when I got behind the wheel. I had asked the guy on the phone if the car had a CD player. He nearly cracked up. No wonder the Stones were reported about six or seven years ago that when they are on tour, they ring the hotel ahead to put out simple instructions in their room on the right way to turn on the TV. I guess that meant that they then have the time to jam and come up with the songs. In the old days, bands just threw the TV out the window and then they had all the time in the world to jam together and come up with the songs. Triple glazing and thin screens are obvious deterrents to the likes of the Stones these days falling into bad habits today. But our modern young musicians no longer excite the pulses with their boring tunes probably because a keyboard to them is a computer not a musical instrument and they probably tweet rather than jam.

This is from the "depression era." Nobody looks depressed.

It's what you DON'T see that's so important! You don't see a sea of overweight people! And you don't see convenience stores and fast food joints on every street corner, which are the biggest contributors to the obesity epidemic we face here in the United States. People's lives were physically harder back then, which was, for most folks, enough to keep them fit and in good health. Smoking, however, was popular, and a lot died of lung cancer. Thanks for providing us with a look back in time.

Simple and kind people.

I grew up in Cornelius just a few miles away. We would go into Mooresville for several reasons. They had a swimming pool and indoor theater. If we needed clothes, there was a small Ivey’s or Belk’s. Someone help me there. Just before you get into town, there was the drive in. I’m 69 now. The railroad tracks run through 7:11 downtown. Oh, go get you some 7:11 Deluxe ice cream at their shop. You’ll thank me.
