    Would an individual who has supported decision making in place only be legally able to make a final decision with the guidance of a support team? In other words, would the individual have to get input from their support team before making any final decision? (For example, would a disabled person have to get an opinion from a parent/support team member before they can legally make a life choice?) Would this mean that SDM would just be a less strict form of guardianship?

    Thank you for this great wealth of information. I have been dealing with an SNP and it is a total nightmare. Most providers in the SNP network will not accept my medicaid as my secondary payment. So even though to my understanding even as you explained the snp is for dual eligibles I have nothing but problems getting even the simplest things accomplished like an xray or a regular pcp office visit. Keep getting bills in the mail for the part medicaid is suppose to pay and I'm the one that has to track down why. Its ridiculous

    This was exceptional in explaining how Medicaid and Medicare works. I have been on Medicaid the past 2 years. I dont understand how I qualified because every chart I see, my SS check is over. That being said, I don't know if I will remain eligible next year when I turn 65. This was very informative for me as now I can plan both case scenarios. Also, I was shocked to hear that Medicaid would not pick up the prescription portion once Medicaid becomes secondary, so thank you for mentioning that I will need to sign up for Part D

      @NoMoreTears64 - Some individuals are eligible for Medicare prior to age 65. If they have been on SSDI (disability) for two years, on their 25th month of SSDI, they become eligible for Medicare. My mother had early Medicare eligibility because she had ALS, so she received Medicare eligibility because of her diagnosis.

      absolutely and I suggest you find an advocate to help you apply, The application is tricky and whatever you do don't go to an attorney, they do nothing and take a big chunk of your benefits. Make an appointment at your local Social Security office and ask for help. Good luck!

    Advantage plans are ok if you are healthy but as you age you’re gonna need more meds , more hospitalization, big ticket items, X-rays, mri, etc - that’s when you can get into big debts cause you pay thru the nose on those items & many times these private insurance companies deny or delay your dr’s treatment plan- with Medicare A& B, & medi gap what the Dr says goes- you get the procedure or surgery or mri paid in full

      It’s true - the Medicare advantage plan I signed up for gave me a list of drs who were supposed to be on the plan - half were not taking new patients, 1 had a Dr who quit a year ago & it’s taken me a month or 2 to find a primary care Dr - call first to make sure yr Dr is on the list - it’s been a nightmare - I’m going back to Medicare part A & B ( original) I moved to a more rural area & can’t find a Dr who takes my plan & btw I have to wait a month & 1/2 to get in on the first appointment to meet him - in the meantime I’ve had to go to emergency & urgent care cause I cd not see him right away

    I'm glad you clearly explain that an avantage plan may not be good for everyone because of the restrictions. I rather get a medigap, and yes like my friends say they can't accord it...what I can afford is a medicaid "the clawgrab"

    • @annamartino5681
      @annamartino5681 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You should compare how much you spend on Medigap and would have spent on Dual Complete SNT Advantage Plan for your past 5-10 years. Saving and investing money difference can afford you an occasional splurge on Private Doctors who don't accept Advantage Plan. Having a expensive upfront plan is feeding pockets of insurance company.

    I am turning 65 in 2 months so after watching your excellent presentation, I decided to apply for Medicaid also since I am poverty level and will apparently qualify for thos programs that will help me with the $170. a month Medicare program. My only question is what is the difference between SLMB which I qualify for and the better program QMB ? Id rather apply for QMB but not sure if I can due to low income like the SLMB program. Thanks for all your help since one friend told me I didnt have to get Medicare but since I worked more than 10 years paying taxes, Medicare contacted me stating I should pick a plan or they will automatically put me in the A&B plan which I cant afford. One last question is if Medicare automatically puts me in Medicare Savings Plan and LIS plan when my Medicare goes through or do I have to contact the SSA ? Thanks again Eric

      Call your insurance and Medicaid each time you get a bill and file an appeal and complain to your Medicaid, as they are the administrator for the program.

    • @sheryllamoureux1068

      Make sure the provider accepts Medicaid (your state should provide you with a list of Medicaid providers) and has a copy of your Medicaid card. If you receive a bill simply call the phone number on the bill and remind them they have to bill Medicaid. If you receive a second bill that does not indicate they have billed Medicaid then contact the agency in your state that handles insurance problems, it might be an ombudsman you can find out the proper agency from Medicaid but Medicaid themselves will not handle these types of billing problems

  • @jettzigirl1470
    @jettzigirl1470 ปีที่แล้ว

    I disagree with the Dual-Eligible Coverage Option 3 explanation. I was told if I am on Medicaid I cannot purchase a Medigap policy. The way it was explained to me when I tried was that they pretty much cannot legally sell me medigap insurance if I am receiving Medicaid. So that is not a possibility unless you already have the medigap policy when you first start into medicaid.
