    Do you think that a new Christian and someone that is not a Christian will see the scriptures the same, and do you think a new man or someone that has heard the gospel of Christ and believed that Christ paid the full price for our sins and puts his complete trust in that fact, realizing there is no more payment for their sin, that the price Jesus paid was satisfactory to God needs to read commentaries by people they don't really know? I ask these questions because of how I came to Christ, and in the denomination that I was raised and now can see how wrong on so many issues they are, from reading the bible on my own without outside help, that were only leading me away from the truth of the gospel. I am of the belief that if someone reads their covenant with God, which is the new covenant from Acts to Revelation they will need to read it over and over and the Holy Spirit will enlighten them. I say that because of the many people that confuse the Old with the New, works and grace. I ask you to forgive my lack of writing skills on the proper use of paragraphs and punctuation. Hope we can start over in our conversation.

    You are telling people to rely on other people to understand the scriptures, you said the gospel of John was inspired by the apostle John, my bible says all scripture is given by inspiration of God, not men. You are one of the reasons people don't read the scriptures for themselves, they are as able to understand the scripture as you. When we interpret scripture, it is important to know the words of Jesus to interpret other scripture by, for example John 3:14-20 Jesus tells us when we believe we receive eternal life, and in 1 John 5 we are told if we don't believe the record of God, we make him a liar, and then he tells us the record is that God gave us eternal life. Be like the Bereans and when you have someone tell you something go to the scripture to see if what he told you is true, in other words read and study the word of God for yourself or be deceived.

    • @whatstheword3
      @whatstheword3 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you for your comment, although I don’t think we will agree on this. I think that all scripture is inspired by God, but that doesn’t mean that we don’t need people to teach Scripture. I also don’t think that I am one of the reasons people don’t read Scripture for themselves. That’s quite the claim you made when you don’t know me personally and have arrived at that conclusion from such a short video. Nonetheless, you’re still my brother in Christ and I appreciate your take on this. God Bless!

    • @EugeneHolley-rc6ry
      @EugeneHolley-rc6ry 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@whatstheword3 I could have worded that better, you made a false claim on that video that the gospel was inspired by John, which it was not. People need to read for themselves their covenant in order to understand it, the scripture says to study to show yourself approved of God. Romans 12:2 tells us the only way to be transformed is by the renewing of our mind, that we may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God. We all need help, but better study for yourself, it is not as hard if you understand the new covenant started at Pentecost and Jesus was dealing with the Jews first, he came unto his own and they received him not. Most would be better if they read and studied the gospel of John and stayed in the books of Acts through Jude until they learn to decern.

    • @whatstheword3

      I tried finding the place you’re talking about and the only place I could find is at the 4:53 mark where I state, “The Gospel of John was written (or at least inspired by) Jesus’ most beloved disciple.” This is not a false claim. I believe the Gospel of John was written by the Apostle John and was inspired by God. The reason I said “or at least inspired by John” is because there are some theologians who believe that the Gospel of John was written by one of his own pupils. My point is that even if someone argues that one of John’s pupils wrote the Gospel of John, it was still at least inspired by John’s discipleship because those pupils were taught by John himself, who was inspired by God either way. I think you misunderstood the point I tried making, and I probably could’ve elaborated a bit more to make myself clear. I’m not saying the wisdom was divinely inspired by John. All Scripture is divinely inspired by God. I was pointing out that the Apostles also inspired (not divinely) others to write and carry on what they taught, which was ultimately inspired by God Himself. Anyway, I’ll leave it at that. You’re entitled to your own views. I just wanted to defend your accusation that I made a false claim. I don’t think I did. Nonetheless, it sounds to me like we agree on a lot more than you might think. Blessings, -Roddy Mtz

      All scripture is inspired by God? What scripture is he speaking about? Not the New Testament! Sure! Here is the text: "All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work." (2 Timothy 3:16-17, ESV) It’s speaking about the OLD TESTAMENT!!!!! But then you talk about John? What! The letters of Paul are written in the 50s John is written in the late 90s . Are you serious? There is no way,, NO WAY, he was speaking about John’s gospel. You need to study more before criticizing.

    • @EugeneHolley-rc6ry
      @EugeneHolley-rc6ry 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@lagart991 So, the New Testament is not scripture, John was an apostle that walked with Jesus, it says ALL scripture, not the Old Testament. It has nothing to do with when the gospel was written, or when the book of Ephesians was written, it is all scripture.

    These are good guidelines, however, I believe to interpret the Bible you must keep in mind The Bible is written For, To, and About Hebrews with their Middle Eastern mindset, of their culture, customs, and beliefs (Not a modern Western mindset) As Non-Hebrew Believers we are invited to be grafted into Believing Hebrews When I realized these simple points the Bible began to open up for me. There were No pagans at the time scriptures were written desiring a long-awaited Messiah, prophesied by the prophets, on the contrary, this was what Hebrews longed for. The scriptures tell about a GOD seemingly forgotten by the first created beings to be made known to a ‘chosen’ people and given the Ten Commandments to keep and reverence. The scriptures speak of this Messiah delivering them and any who chose to believe in him. Remember we are to be ‘graffted into them.’

    If anything it’s even more of God’s fault people go to hell based on what you’re saying. God creating hell in the first place, and making it so that there can only be two afterlives, already made it a possibility that people will end up going there, but to add to that he also determined that the only means of avoiding hell is via this specific path that he created. Apparently God felt that the best way to lead people away from hell wasn’t with evidence of his existence, but was to stick the apparent path to salvation in a book filled with claims that cannot be demonstrated and which will not be recognized as true by most people who will ever live or have lived. And your new analogy sucks. Actually, in your case you know your friend loves pizza, you condoned the construction of multiple pizza parlors in his neighborhood, allowed the sale of pizza ingredients locally, and are now telling him “don’t eat the pizza, you’ll get fat”-because that makes sense, sure. The new wife analogy you brought up is also flawed. Sacrificing yourself so your wife doesn’t have to burn is absurd given that at any moment, as is the case with God, you can simply make it so she doesn’t have to burn in the first place-I.e God can simply make it so hell is not in the equation and forego sacrificing himself to himself to circumvent rules that he created in the first place.

    First off, great video! I love the format and the clear respect to discussion shown here. As for your point on the first tiktok, my usual reply to that argument is that it fails to encompass a truly omnipotent and omniscient entity; sure, he gave us free will which I assume to be "he cannot directly control us" (which is already sort of a contradiction? in the "can he create a weight he cannot lift?" sort of way) but he also did so already fully knowing what that would entail. He gave us free will knowing that we would not believe in him, and still chooses to allow for an (eternal, in some cultures) punishment to exist for not doing so. That he left proof of his existance (also knowing that said proof would be insufficient for many) and a way to evade this punishment also fails to account for his power, doesnt it? You even said it yourself, believing is only the first step; would it not be the fair, loving thing to do to make it abundantly clear to everyone, so that everyone has a fair chance of not being heretics? And despite skeptics not being able to come up with an answer to "what proof would you need to believe?", a truly omnipotent and omniscient entity would not have that limitation. If he wanted to, and I am led to believe by your own scripture that he WOULD want to by virtue of being benevolent, he could. This is also not accounting for the many, many other religions present through the world! Are their books, dogma and culture not just proof for other gods or ways of living? Is the allowing of their existance not willingly letting the waters be muddied, do they not make these exact arguments? My view is that, for every single idea of a God, supernatural entity, creator of the universe or simple cultural beliefs that humans could ever come up with(an infinite number, id imagine), there is also the chance for it to not exist. There is an infinite number of different views that could be right, and thus also an infinite chance that they could all be wrong; using the bible (general revelation) as proof for the bible is made difficult to trust by this. If anyone bothered to read this far, what would it take for you to believe in one of those *different* religions? From the point of view of a non-believer, all seem equally likely. Is it possible you were already predisposed to Christianity, Islam or any other by virtue of your upbringing, and either have never challenged your beliefs or a certain event pushed you into truly adopting them?

  • @DeltaBadeMaker

    God tells you nothing of the consequences of our actions. Humans claiming to speak for the god they invented make these rules and consequences to control other's behavior. Of all the numerous deities created across time, each one has its own ruleset. How can you be so sure that yours is correct because it could be the opposite of the dude preaching down the street? Or that if your chosen text is the true word, are you sure it is exactly as it was meant to be when written thousands of years ago and translated multiple times? The bible for example CAN NOT be taken literally. It is impossible. So much of it is laughably disprovable that it means that it can only be interpreted by individuals. How is this a clear message of how to make it heaven if every person will have their own interpretation? You do not think people in power will try to use this to fulfill their own desires?

    At 6:16 you asked the question: "what sort of interaction would be required for you to believe God exists". To be honest, I don't know. But me not knowing doesn't matter assuming that the god you believe in is all-knowing and all-powerful (most Christians claim that their god has these attributes so I am assuming it of you, if this is an incorrect assumption please let me know). An all-knowing all-powerful god knows exactly what it takes to convince me of its existence and has the capability of doing whatever that is. This leads me to believe that if an all-knowing all-powerful god exists, that god does not want me to believe in it at this moment (seeing that I don't believe in such a god at this moment). You brought up general revelation but I don't think that this matters. This is because an all-knowing all-powerful god would know if general revelation would be enough to convince me of its existence. Additionally, it would be of no burden to such a god (seeing that it is all-powerful) to convince me of its existence through some means other than general revelation.

    Not bad augments put forward there, kudos for trying, but I am not convinced. Instead of reacting to degenerates (because if you use TikTok you most centrally are). I think you should debate an Atheist with a sound understating of basic science and philosophy in real time. Big topics like: The Creation of the Universe, The Origan of Life and Morality. If you like that idea and have trouble finding someone then you can always contact me.

      You are right that if someone is knowledgeable on a subject, the low-hanging fruits aren't going to be effective. The point of this video, though, is to discuss these low hanging fruits of atheism in a way that the layman could understand, because that's ultimately what the layman is going to be convinced by. If you want some more "high-hanging" Christian argumentation, I'd recommend some of the debates or videos of Michael Jones of Inspiring philosophy.

    I’m an atheist. I don’t agree with most things you said, but you did make me think about what evidence I would need. If I saw something like a god in front of me I would probably think it’s a hallucination. For sure if god did something big and revealed himself and changed the world where it can’t be concise red a hallucination anymore then maybe, but future generations might start to doubt as well. Maybe if he didn’t hide himself and spoke to everyone? I mean, he should be able to. I don’t believe in him because I just can’t, the more I think about the less sense it makes But if he did exist and I get punished for it that seems super unfair. I didn’t want to watch this video because I knew I wouldn’t agree with you, but maybe it’s the echo chamber and I should listen to things I don’t agree at all to make me think even more. Good video even though I didn’t like it 😁💀

    Idk how this showed up in my recommended. Dude you didn't make a single point this entire video, you just talked in circles. Also the Bible isn't evidence of anything other than a book exists (multiple versions of a book btw and the most popular one the one you quoted is the most edited from its source material)

    • @whatstheword3
      @whatstheword3 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Freddy. I did make points in the video. You just don’t agree with them and that’s fine. I don’t know how I talked in circles either. Also, I don’t remember citing the Bible as evidence? I cited general revelation to consider the necessity of a divine being. The Bible isn’t considered general revelation at all. I did say that God left us the Bible to show us how to live (responding to the first TikTok) but I didn’t cite it as evidence He exists. Unless I’m remembering wrong. I’ll rewatch the video. Also, I don’t think that editions and translations devalue what an ancient text has to say. It is a necessary part of reading any ancient text, whether it’s Hebrew, Egyptian, etc. The farther we get away from the original source material (thousands of years) the more we have to examine it for accuracy. That doesn’t mean the original message is wrong, and that doesn’t mean the specific places I cited were wrong. You can use exegesis to find the meaning of the original source material, which is what I do in my other videos if you are interested. Despite our disagreements, I appreciate you taking the time to watch the video and comment. Take care and God Bless!

      @freddyfareiie3499 I didn't hear circular reasoning. Could you explain it to me? Although I understand where you are coming from, it is a vast understatement to call the Bible "just a book." The historical evidence supporting the authenticity of the bible is extremely fascinating and very extensive going back farther than 2000 years. According to some sources, there is more evidence to believe Jesus existed than Alexander the Great! It's especially fascinating to see a historical account of an entire population of Jews pivoting in the first century to stop doing the traditions they had been practicing for hundreds of years of generations. That is insane to think about because it is essentially the same as telling someone who was trained from birth, as a matter of life and death, religiously, throughout generations and surrounded entirely by a culture that supports, brushing their teeth every morning. It points to the very real possibility that something happened in the last days of the BC era. I typically recommend The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel which is the story of an atheist New York Times researcher giving his everything to disprove Christ. Just a reminder btw no one gains anything by saying such controversial stuff. He is putting his neck on the line to speak what he believes to be true and important for living a righteous life and avoiding punishment in hell. While some of us may disagree with the things he says he does it in love and hope to give us something greater.

    The news media is notorious for not giving the whole context of a story The news media will only use bits and pieces of video footage so that it would look like the person said something something wrong or did something wrong Context is King A person can take one verse out of context and create a whole sermon by reading into the text giving his opinion of what he wants to teach his congregation This is dangerous and is called eisegesis Like to a realtor Location Location Location and to the the student of the Bible it's CONTEXT CONTEXT CONTEXT To God be the Glory Alone!
