We live, work, and play hard in Alaska but also love to travel and explore! Trying to capture our adventures one picture or video at a time whether it be at home in Kodiak, across the island camping & subsistence fishing, all forms of camping & conveyance, or on the mainland in our 1986 Wanderlodge bus.

2024 Glacier View Car Jump
The Glacier View Car Jump…A perfect way to celebrate 4th of July in Alaska! The 2.5 hour drive from Anchorage was beautiful, traffic didn’t back up until a few miles before the turnoff around 8:00am. For 2024, tickets were $20/person at the gate, they took cash or credit (cash line was faster). We saw campers for miles boondocking plus many more in nearby campgrounds including the Glacier View River Retreat where some of our family and friends stayed. They are concerned this may be the last year because the river is eroding away the spectator area at an increased speed. Fingers crossed we get to attend another year!

2023 ALCAN Canadian Highway Road Trip Series: Part I (but no bus?? 👀)
มุมมอง 240ปีที่แล้ว
This summer while the bus was having some serious suspension work done ✅ we moved Jen's mom from Rapid City SD to Anchorage, AK so this series documents our crazy travels thru Canada. Part I starts in MT (the beginning of the trip was uneventful and very rainy weather) and ends around Calgary, Alberta, Canada. We hope you enjoy the trip! As always, thank you for coming along on our crazy advent...

Are you guys still alive? Never saw any bus videos (or any theme video for that matter) this year. Hope all is well.
i live in conrad
wow!
Airstreams are now around 150,000$
Great video ! I want to add Solar to our 2000 LX WB Wanderlodge. I had no idea where to start. There is always a list of upgrades or repairs. I should have gone to educate to become a mechanic or an engineer. Safe travels ! Enjoy your videos .
My Nuwave flex only goes up to 600 watts, but I won't be boiling water only heating Knorr meals etc
Hard to understand why anyone uses gas instead of induction
You couldn’t be more right, maybe it’s an education-thing?
@@Buoy4AK i have used all types of stoves and gas is by far the worst. Dangerous for fires and gas leaks. Slow to cook anything. Handles of the cooking pots are on fire. Bad smell. Heats up the room more than the pot. Dangerous particles in the air… induction for the win
@@Buoy4AKeducate the people!! Thanks for a great video
The only two surface cook top would absolutely annoy me. Especially if you’re boondocking with a large family when it comes to cooking. I’ve watch many new RV models being rolled out and most are two burners induction. I would probably choose propane.
@@Legacy82x Sure. If you have all the time in the world to wait for water to boil :)

I was on the corner of the pond! Haha got hit with the water from the cougar, and a part actually flew right by me! I have a short with the clip on my page if u want to see! Only video I've ever uploaded lmao🤣 stay safe! And keep LIVIN!!😁 ~ZJAK
God that's my home town... Now I needs a burger and a malt.
Great video!
Thank you
Nice: 2 questions: 1- How long is the walk from the parking lot to the watching area? 1/4 mile - 1/2 mile. 2- You didn't document the launching of the cars: I'm guessing a hydraulic catapult, like jets off a carrier. A cannon, like in the movie Grand Prix? and lastly: what's the criteria for winning and the prize money? Safe Travels!
I've watched a lot of videos covering this but yours is the best!
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you! We don’t make money with his gig, so it’s the positive feedback that keeps us going 😘
why all the running at the end were they scrounging for parts or souvenirs
Yes! It’s a tradition…. And feels a little bit like the Hunger Games at the end there 😜
What trophy did Morgan Get?
Left headlight cover (& she’s pretty dang proud of it 😊)
@@Buoy4AK Thats Awesome!!
Please say real people are not driving those cars? Sport looks like great fun, but real people behind the wheel could get really hurt
@@TheCLPVideos There are no people inside
Thank you. I was wondering if I could get up closer with my scooter. I don't think my scooter and the battery would last on that long of a trip. Been disabled for many years and with out it I'm done. Now I know 👍🏻 The only thing I saw that bothered me was people go up the hill to pull stuuf off the cars that didn't make it to the bottom. They could have easily broke one loose causing it to roll down and over people at the bottom. I was a Firefighter/EMT for many yrs and that did not look safe. See y'all next year 🇺🇸
You’re more than welcome! And yes, there was an ambulance standing by. Besides the danger of falling cars/debris on the hill/cliff, that raging river behind us was no joke! That, & just that many people in one place, seemed ripe with opportunity for a medical emergency of some kind. Thankfully, the ambulance crew had nothing to do but enjoy the show 😉 Solid maybe on the scooter. The ground was firm with about an inch of glacial rock flour (“silt” with a consistency of talc & sticks to everything). If your scooter had tires 6” or bigger, I’d bet you could make it. If it was raining, well, that might make things pretty slick. Either way, there’s only really one way to find out 👍
OMG, the cold in Alaska must be affecting your minds (in a good way) I am so in. I want to go to Alaska so bad, stuff like this just makes me really want to go. That Class C motorhome was the best. A little scary really, the way it just imploded. Looking forward to some bus videos, hopefully you can trace that offending wire down soon.
Thank you! Yes, the elusive “green & yellow” wire has to be in there somewhere! If not, maybe we’ll be filming how well a Wanderlodge fares in next-years event 😜 We’ve gotta say the tradition of fireworks has its place, but this form of community really feels more “American” (even for gearheads like us who really had a crush on some of the vehicles like the Barbie Corvette & Fall Guy truck❤️🩹)
Absolute 2025 destination! The CG C-130 should have put itself closer to the deck!
Yes, we hope you make it up! C-130 raised the hard deck due to very high drone traffic (ours was not one of them 😎). Realistically a TFR & NOTAM might be justified with this many people & manned aircraft (although no part of this entire evolution is what you might call “safe” 😉)
You guys knocked this video out of the park! First time I seen a video that had behind the scenes of the Glacier View Car Jump. Awesome!
Glad you dug it man!

Barbie must have been Larry’s favorite.
While Larry’s seldom met a blonde he didn’t like, his relationship track record with them ended up about the same as the Corvette 💥 🔥 (This whole redhead-thing is still TBD 😘)
@@Buoy4AK his final choice was the best!
Hey brother, hope youre doing well ....
Thanks Mark! Living the best Alaska life I can (as work permits anyway 😜)
Will there be a Glacier View video?
Yes!!
Back to the future What if bluebird wanderlodge would look like as a Time Machine?
I think back in 1986, people thought exactly that or that it looked like the “Space Shuttle cockpit” 😉
Good morning!
Ahoy there man!
That's a slow induction stove, did a test with mine on a video. Good video though, liked the concept. Ever notice how small the burners are on the propane stoves are, have the same in my travel trailer. Now that second burner is cranking for you.😁
I'm for sure going to buy one, i love the C3 1982 "cross-fire injection"🥇😎 I'm from Denmark by the way
Denmark? Wow, well we’re glad you enjoyed the video😎
@@Buoy4AK next weekend...I'm buying my first Corvette, a 1982 Collectors Edition 😎🥳
Congratulations! If I’m not mistaken those the only ones with the opening rear window…. Enjoy!
@@Buoy4AK exactly and there are only two of them in Denmark, mine will be third one 😎 but it needs a loving hand
The city campground (dirty parking lot) is the worst place i've been to Homeless there.
Well, it’s definitely the opposite at the MiliResort (for those who have the privilege). Seward itself is a wonderful town (for a tourist destination 😜)
Did it ever occur to you that you could have had a spare ignition key cut as soon as you purchased the RV???
It sure did, but the previous owner warned us that no matter what, we should NEVER take the key out, so we didn’t (unfortunately, we got so used to leaving it in there we neglected to stress that little detail to the guys at the shop).
Had really missed you and the family, and was getting concerned if things were ok. Nice, new TJ! Did you get rid of the XJ?
Shipped the XJ back to Kodiak so Captain Morgan can learn to drive on a proper 3-pedal vehicle like god intended 😘
We’re okay, just had a few changes at work that’ve resulted in a LOT less flexibility with the PTO! We will be on abbreviated publishing schedule for a while, but look forward to getting more freedom soon (but not soon enough 😜)
Ahoy there! Life got in the way… Boy are you right about that! I miss the Wanderlodge community but the bus was taking all my free time. Now a Jeep?!? Welcome back.
Well, there’s ALWAYS been a Jeep 😜
When are you going to unwrap that Twinkie?
Make a path with the Rubicon.
I actually considered that, but in my older years I’ve learned off-roading solo, even just to pack snow, can really mess with a schedule when you’ve got places to be 😎
@@Buoy4AKcoward! 😂
Ahoy there!
No you haven't just added more air with the air pump, the air reaction system injects air into the exhaust manifold to encourage unburned hydrocarbons to react and burn completely in the catalyst. The system was used before catalyst was mandated federally as well, but the hydrocarbons are burned in the manifolds.
Well, there you have it. Thank you for the explanation!
The music junked another video 👎👎👎👎💩💩💩😬
The trusty tusty! I've been on her 3 times. Wow, she still looks the same after almost 40 years! Went to high school in Kodiak, my first time on her was in 1985, moving to Kodiak. Cool experience, got seasick, played pac man, you know that old chestnut.🤮🛳️🕹️
I went from homer to kodiak on this ferry last year. It was great
Larry and Jen, I've also missed you folks. You really ought to come to Minnesota where we don't have snow. You might be able to take lots of winter trips in the new banana belt. Probably not good year for ice fishing in a bus, but no slippery roads and nothing to shovel. Whether this is the new normal, who knows. Best wishes, Charles Q
How many did you grt? I saw only one...the one she threw back. You need to do better camera work.
We had been a bit worried about you folks, since you at least posted something fairly regularly, and then all of a sudden we heard nothing. Glad to know everything is okay for the most part. Life happens to everybody. As for that snow, never think of tackling that much snow without the proper jeep. Those civilian vehicles just can't hack it. If you don't have a Jeep, at least use a diesel ram!
Been missing you and you family. Hopefully we'll be seeing more of you soon!
Do I get a prize for commenting?
Howdy!
LoL, Ahoy There! 😜
G' morning from tropical MN.
Awesome! Looks well wrapped up.
Hey guys, when's part 2? Missing your uploads. Happy New Year!
Where is the best place / FB page / website to find a good Wanderlodge?
Randy is the go-to guy for all things Wanderlodge, www.buybyebluebird.com/ and Wanderlodge Owners Group (WOG). Good luck!
I remember going there on R&R in 1978 with my buds from 56 MP Co Ft Richardson. AK
It’s been downsized a bit since then, but is still awesome!
They should have made the wheel base longer(Similar to the Prevost X45). It would have rode like a Cadillac.
True!
