    Better all round. Mike was crisper and so was the nice fusion jazz, Japanese? Video almost there, a little dark in this one but the weather wasn't helping. Think you might have tweaked the sound in post but I see you had the mike much closer to your mouth. Raymond is running well and seems to like working hard, as a 2CV should of course. Good luck with the clutch on the Mog.

    I wouldn't 'gauge' a range of 200 miles on a tank - maybe drop it down a bit to 175, as you may well (and should be) flogging the engine a bit

    Sorry to write that the mic still not good. If it's plugged into the phone do you have to enable it so it overrides the one in the phone? Picture still wobbly too. Not much progress I'm sorry to say. A magnetic mount would be useful for shots like the dipstick check.

      You’re spot on re the mic. In the “moving” part of the film I was experimenting with a new mic position, as suggested to me elsewhere. It was clipped to the sun visor. By the end of the film (at the traffic lights) I’d moved it back and the sound is definitely better. Oddly it didn’t sound too bad on the laptop, but when I’ve just watched it on the TV it’s definitely bad! No idea why the camera bounce set in, anti shake couldn’t correct it. Thanks as ever for your constructive comments, hopefully you’ll see an improvement in parts 2, 3 and 4 when they get finished off over the next few days 👍🏻

  • @delukxy

    Mike is good but you can still speak a little louder. Camera mount still bouncy and the vibration is still making the picture fuzzy. One step at a time.

    If you want good dashcam reviews you can't go wrong here. th-cam.com/users/Techmoan I think you might have to cultivate an in car voice. Crisp, loudish and evenly modulated. Unless you and your wife are miked up in the Morgan I'd guess that you know what I mean. Currently you go soft to loud and back again.

      Thanks Deluk, advice and pointers gratefully received! Don’t think I’ll buy another dashcam as such, would probably go for Go Pro or the OJI (?) version.

      @@wolfieScog Hubnut has been using the DJI Osmo Action Cam since the start of his NZ trip. Bought after he left the UK and not sure where he bought it. Maybe got a good deal in Shanghai! Lots of head to heads on the Tube. The majority of the footage posted since then has been from the Osmo and is very good. He has had a lot of problems with cheap mikes, mostly due to poor connectors I think. Matching the mike to the phone or camera can be fraught as many aren't plug in and use due to electrical mismatch. Some phones especially are very fussy. Sounds as if I know what I'm talking about but I don't have a smart phone, yet. Osmo wins on price but also has the front screen for selfies when needed. They have been doing firmware update frequently and is pretty much fully formed now. Looks to be a good choice. GoPro is waterproof out of the box which can be an advantage. He did buy a new phone. Samsung Galaxy(?) but reverts back to his old OPPO phone a lot. Has a love/hate relationship with a Canon M50 but that is unstabilised and hunts focus a lot. In good light, having it on manual and a small aperture would possibly work better. Note: I made a clarification on a previous post that I thought that the vibration was affecting the focus in that it was blurred like continuous light camera shake rather than the affect it was having on the sound ref to mike performance. Not saying that vibration wouldn't affect the mike if the transponder in the mike capsule was moving in time with the vibrations. That's what sound is anyway!

    • @wolfieScog
      @wolfieScog 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Deluk Thanks again. It was Hubnut that really gave me the inspiration to try to record some stuff, and the Osmo does seem good...currently at a good price too! I think I’ll see if I do take to this hobby before committing Osmo/GoPro money to it - anyone want to buy some golf clubs/guitars/keyboards 😂😂 if you get my drift!

    38 idle jet not listed for any 2CV carb. All 40 except for two which have 42.5. £2.99 Chinese mike? Maybe your problem. iPhone 6 should film in 1080p 60fps. You are uploading in 480p and losing LOTS of quality. Google for lots of info on focus issues. Should be solvable but I think that updating the ios not now possible on the 6?

    • @wolfieScog
      @wolfieScog 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your comment re the jet sizing - deffo has 38 on it, the Burton carb refurbishment kit has a 41 idle jet and should be a reliable source? I’ll look into how to upload in better than 480, I’m creating the video in iMovie and hitting “share to TH-cam” but haven’t been asked what quality I want. Maybe it’s at the TH-cam end, I’ll take a look 👍🏻

    I nearly gave up completely due to the focus problems but just jumped ahead a lot in the end. Pity as the route was very scenic. What camera, obviously not fixed focus like a GoPro? Car needs one of those full services without replacing anything if you know what I mean. Fuel might have gone off during the enforced sitting around. That might have fouled the plugs a bit. A new set worth trying. Coil getting tired? I hope the weather changes for you. Take care. Edit: Perhaps I should view your two later videos and find out what your problems were/are!

    • @wolfieScog
      @wolfieScog 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t blame you for nearly giving up! I’ve only just started trying to record in the car so am on a very steep learning curve. Filming on my iPhone, and have since doing this film discovered how to lock the focus..need to sort out mic issues, thought buying a lapel mic would resolve things but it hasn’t. I’ve ordered some furry mic covers to see if that helps, if not I might need to get another (more expensive) mic. Thanks for perseverance and comment👍🏻

    • @wolfieScog
      @wolfieScog 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Deluk - I’ve looked at the quality setting and had the option to upgrade to 720, which I’ve now done. Hope this has improved things, thanks for your feedback.

    • @delukxy
      @delukxy 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@wolfieScog All of your uploads are now showing as 720p which is good and I think that the basic quality has improved. I could click it back to 480p to check but haven't. You should be able to select 108p at 30 or 60fps when you do the set up to start a new iMovie project and that will maintain that resolution if that is what it was filmed in. Upload can then be 1080p@30 or 60fps. I've got a bit picky as I have 4k and many YT uploads are now in that quality. Many won't be able to view that but the down scaled footage is really good at 1080p. You're aware of the focus issue and if you can set it to fixed that is probably OK. But, it won't improve the fuzzy picture much as I think that is due to your mount and the cars vibration. Is it a single sucker with a bendable arm? Filming with the engine off in the car is fine. Filming with the car ticking over shows the image vibrating back and forth. I think that when you are on the move and going over just a few mph the phone then starts to vibrate continuously hence the fuzz. If you come to a stop sign it improves a lot but still has the same vibration as when you sitting talking with the engine running. Check the stabilisation settings. I think these are very basic on the 6 , the 6Plus got optical stabilisation which is likely a lot better but damping vibration is difficult. I'd investigate a better mount first. Dead cat hairy mike covers are wind stoppers and won't improve basic sound. You probably know or know of Ian (HubNut) and his adventures with Elly his 2CV. His trials and tribulations with cameras are well documented there. Watch his trip last year to Croatia. He uses phones and cameras. If the bug bites you with regard to in car filming there are a lot of YT videos to review. Enjoy Raymond. I had a Dyane many years ago and am well aware of their charm. Take care.

    • @wolfieScog
      @wolfieScog 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Deluk Thank you so much for taking the time and trouble to help me. I guess I was kind of inspired by Hubnut channel to start doing my own stuff! I’ve changed the setting on the phone to 1080 and 60 frames, it was set on 720 so hopefully that will improve. I think you’re right re the mount, it’s a single arm mount so maybe designed more as a phone holder than a camera mount. It’s a good point you make about the phone vibration coming through on the mic. Furry sock thing was my next stop, if that doesn’t help then I’ll invest in a new mount. I suppose I’m trying to do it on the cheap rather than go into a shop and buy a “TH-cam from a car” kit. I’ve tried too many hobbies in the past where I’ve bought all the gear and not liked it😂😂 so want to avoid that route. Thanks again for your helpful pointers, they are genuinely appreciated. Keep safe

    • @delukxy
      @delukxy 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@wolfieScog Mike might not be affected by the vibration other than it's connection to the phone and a poor connection at the plug or mike. These cheap ones are notorious for poor continuity as you may have noticed with Ian's. Crackles and drop puts = poor connections. A decent mike is an investment but I know what you mean about going crazy buying bits when you get interested in something! I'm sure Ian would advise if you drop him a line. Being another 2CV-er gives you a bit of clout. Ask him to view your videos to see your problems.
