Love mine. I would always sharpen on a sturdy surface for a more controlled process and to reduce risk to injuries....just my thought, I can be wrong.....
Sorry ain't no knife worth $3500+ regardless how well it's made or materials used or made in USA or Chinatown for that matter. And what really pisses me off if the fact they control prices by purposely limiting and controlling the supply chain, make super low number batches and demand increases thus raising the overall value. Just like having to join a list at a CHANCE to possibly buy their knives or secondary market. I would love to know what it actually cost them to produce these knives and their profit margins..
New out of the box you should never have to consider adding super glue. Beaut of a knife nevertheless.
That is a very sweet MAC2! I love the combo of camo clip, skull, and Skeleton Sam! I've had a custom McNees Agent fixed blade for several years now. I just ordered the new PM MAC2 'SWERVE', w/Tanto blade, in green and purple and I CAN'T WAIT to hold it! I asked Jonathan to put a little Skeleton Sam and possibly, 'Alabama Made' around him. I love his custom touches. Your AutoMAC is one of, if not THE BEST that I've seen. I have a Benchmade Infidel OTF that is snappy, strong, and rock solid. You said you thought ProTec was the gold standard for autos. I think it's Microtech. I saw a video showing that McNees was faster than ProTec. Either way, congratulations; you have a unicorn. That is one very rare and beautiful knife!
What angle did you find most effective with the backpacker?
Did you do that hollow grind if so great job, if not can you hook me up with the guy. Thank you 💪🏻
I wished they made a 2 inch model for comiefornia
What's the difference between the gunny and bravo 1?
Nah I wanna see that pocket pry
What a chunker!! Bro I'm truely stuck! I want to treat myself to a nice blade this Christmas. I really would prefer and automatic. If you only had to pick one knife which would you select between: A natural clear tanto Socom Elite Auto, Stitch partly serrated auto (stonewash), Pariah all blacked out auto??? And for the manuals which would you pick between a Pariah button lock all black partly serrated (not the mini), this monster Kodiak or a Medusa all black (or stonewash blade). Would appreciate your view. Cheers
For an auto, i would choose the pariah, just cause i like the look more than the other 2, any of the 3 would be great/ top quality autos i imagine. As for which manual i think the pariah is the coolest looking, but a button lock wouldnt be my first choice for reliability/ strength. I would think a frame lock would be the strongest. With that being said i do think those autos and button locks would hold up great considering they are from microtech and heretic. But ya pariah auto, and probably kodiak beast manual if i could only choose one haha
@ Ok great! Thanks 👍🏾
Think this might be my next knife buy
is that matte or regular black micarta ?
Benchmade has really jumped the shark with pricing. They've gone insane.
Hey bro I just came across your video. I've had the 187 for years. As far as the opening. Give it some time and let it break in. In the early years you would get instructions explaining it's going to be tight . They break in really nice and close easily after awhile. I'm going to check out some more of your videos. Thanks for this one
Did you end up keeping it? Just found this video 10 hours after ordering!
Thanks for sharing. This was right to the point
bro, bro... nope!
I really like the color of your scales, are they the black or green micarta?
ProTech is a banger 🔥🔥
I have that exact variant and I love it, the lighter weight and better balance compared to the titanium versions is great. Mine has an amazing detent for a crossbar lock straight out of the box, way better than my two other kunwu’s (compact Chad and pulsar). The Bowie clip point is so, so attractive. The one thing was I wish they textured the CF! Textured CF looks and feels amazing and they do the texturing on all the other materials! But regardless I love this knife, favourite kunwu out of the ones I own and all the ones I’ve handled for sure
No oil or water??
Microtech all the way. Although Heretic has some interesting designs.
Niiiiice bro 👍🏾 How’s the kick compared to the Stitch or Socom Elite???
way over priced
The Django is a sweet blade that punches way above it’s price, especially in titanium, although the carbon fiber is really nice. That DLC is very scratch resistant and looks awesome. The XL is the bomb👍
0770 or 0450? I’m looking to get one or the other but can’t decide. Which is a better overall edc?
I would say theyre both great, i overall just like the 450 better even though its not as good of a utility blade. I just like it more. But i think all around the 770 is a better knife and more useful and practical for edc. 0770 also is pretty light weight.. i do think the 450 has a smoother action, ti scales (depending on the version) and better for self defence
Thyre both amazing knives tho cant wrong
Fantastici👍
Legit otf. But stiffest action ever. If they fix that I'll buy one again. Sold mine cause I have arthritis
Bro, dont cut in between your legs. Your major blood vessels lay shallow here. Thanks for the info i ordered 1👍
Great video! Thank you 👍... So I'm looking to treat myself to a nice knife before the end of the year. At the moment it's between the Stich Auto, the Heretic Medusa Auto or the Socom Elite Auto. I've handled both the Stitch & Elite and was blown away. However, I really like the look of this Medusa. In your opinion which would you say has the hardest kick? Also which would you say is built the best overall? Cheers
Honestly i think any of the 3 would be a great option, might come down to personal taste. If i remember correctly they all have similar feeling action. But if it were me, i would go with microtech. I feel microtech has a better reputation as far as custumor service and just overall fit and finish quality. Though i imagine the quality in the Heretic is great as well, keep in mind the owner of Heretic is the son of the owner of Microtech, but i think microtech is just a slight step above on a few things:) hope that is helpful!
@@straighttothepoint3477 Thanks dude. Decided I will go for a blacked out Stitch auto and a red camo Heretic Hydra. Will see if I can stike up a deal with the seller as I plan to get them both from the same store. Knowing my luck both will be sold out by the time I go to buy them 🙄 Hopefully will have them in a month or so... Thanks again 🤜
If you ever plan on using the chord then id akip tge super glue.
I'm thinking about the carbon fiber Manticore x. Love my Guardian Tactical. Great action. Adding more otf knives to my collection and want to try several different makers.
Great video
Throw it on a Whetstone. Convex are the easiest grind to sharpen, and all grinds when sharpened by hand eventually turn into a convex. Just go very lightly and follow the geometry of the blade (the curve against the stone)
I think the lock is a great design.
Oh btw you can absolutely get a mirror polish on a semi-coarse grit edge like this one, but I would suggest getting a bigger strop and loading it with much finer compound than this. 2000 grit is actually fairly coarse as far as compounds go. My favorite one is 1 micron which equates to somewhere around 15 000 grit. So bigger strop, finer compound and lots and lots of elbow grease. You mentioned 30 passes, its more like 30-45 minutes of continous passes to get a 600 grit edge up to a full mirror shine. Of course the "best" way to achieve mirror polish would be to keep following the grit progression up on different stones, you should start seeing a cloudy mirror at 3-5000 grit stones and a fully clear instagrammable polish at 5-8000 + stropping after. Im not convinced that a field sharpener that only goes to 600 grit is the best tool for that particular job though, but its probably doable with enough effort. edit: also, finer leather for your strop goes a really long way
Good advice from your commenter tbh. Relying on counting strokes on each side is okay when starting out, but eventually you will likely realize its very inconsistent because a) no 2 freehand strokes will ever be exactly the same, b) you dont actually know how many strokes you need, its just guessing if one is deciding on a number up front, and c) the best way to know when its time to move on to the next step in the process is to actually check, and the way to check is inspecting the edge visually and feeling for a burr. I like to think of it like cooking. Sure you can practise the same recipe enough times that you can successfully throw it together, but if you are trying something new (like a new knife/steel/geometry) and you dont taste (check) as you work then you have no idea if what you are serving will be any good or not, and you lose the ability to correct as you go.
Not a bad beginner tutorial. What happened to your strop though?
Entirely too expensive for what it is ‼️
I find it extremely difficult to open my new small Inkosi,, I feel like I've wasted a great deal of money,, 😰
For that price S35VN Blade only …? Shoulda be Bohler M390
I could get KIZER Huntsman same type of blade for less
I picked up one cheap in a trade and I like it a lot. Only gripe is the G10 handles have a couple of hot spots that I need to shave down.
Thanks for doing the vid. Yup, I'm going to carry mine. If I were asked, I would say please lose the hole in the blade. Make the thumb studs double as blade stops in both the open and closed position.
Umm. Ditch the WD 40. IT Will leave an varnish film that will slow ur action down. I use Gun Blaster, or Liquid Wrench
Is the blue more rare than black?
Pretty clean for something you carry on a regular basis.
Cool pen 👍
I just ordered one. I’m a little concerned with the finger safety on closing it, but I’ll have to see. What do you think or how do you feel about that? Is it easy to cut your finger if you aren’t paying attention?
Is it too big for concealed carry?
Medford’s are smooth whether on washers or bearings depending on model. I love my M-48 for not being another floppy overly fast bearing knife. Extremely good manufacturing tolerances and if you don’t notice that you’re not there yet as a quality knife aficionado. The lock bar is fine unless you type for a living. This is a real work knife not a sissified fast action fidget toy.
I never doubted its ability to preform or be a good work knife. I simply implied there is nothing satisfying about the action whatsoever. And that is something that is important to me. Ive handled almost every folding knife out there my guy, the lock bar access is subpar, and stiff af in comparrison. and for the price id forsure expect better. (I work in construction so dont say i have soft hands 😂)They easily could have made an access cut for it or something. If youre going to carry a knife just based off of its manufacturing tolerances, just carry a fixed blade. Lol
