This awesome scene. (A gift for every fangirl of Tom Hiddleston who spent the night of July 14 looking for this episode x) )

No fake. La cultissime scéne du film "Les Lois de l'Attraction" réalisé par Roger Avary en 2002 qui a inspiré Kyan Khojandi et l'équipe de la série pour créer "Bref." ("Bref." est également inspiré du film "Trainspotting" x))

    Shakespeare belongs to humanity, not only the Saxon tongue,for he speaks to the human condition in all of us. he makes me dream, laugh and weep even when my native tongue is Spanish.

    It's an interesting choice to have the scene happen in the throne room instead of Henry's chamber, and to keep the nobles around. The scene is a lot less intimate than it could be, and I think that does a good job of making it more earnest and less ambiguous. Because the camera followed Harry into the throne room, we get to *see* his tears instead of hearing about them from someone else, and the King and the nobles coming to him instead of him being the one to go back into the room puts his character in a vulnerable spot, which is a better testament to the truth of his feelings than when he gets time to compose himself and think about what he'll say. I don't mind that they shortened his defense of himself, because he looks so convincing that having him talk too long would have been counterproductive and look less like it came right from the heart. His contrition being witnessed not just by his dying, sentimental father but by his brothers and the lords also adds to the credibility of his speech. And for why the throne room specifically is better than a random one, the image of Harry not just crying in another room but crying on the throne itself, with the crown on, leaves no doubt to how little of a consolation they are to him and it's great. I don't mind versions where Harry comes across as a little more manipultive or more comforted by his new status, but this completely sincere interpretation is very touching.

    I love the acting... but come on, the Prince of Wales and a high noble could afford better armour than that shit they're wearing.

    It’s a shame that the talent of a Shakespearean actor is usurped by their appearance in the crap from America. Need to leave the CGI comic book stuff to them and embrace the simple majesty of the Bard ………..

    No soldier or warrior ever waxed lyrical over his fallen foe on the battlefield. Flowery language was for courtiers, bards, and poets.

    3:00 I love how Hal pays true respect to Hotspur, almost sounding regretful of having to kill such a brave soul. Shakespeare wrote so much compassion into his plays.

      That's because Shakespeare made them contemporaries. Harry Percy was Henry Prince of Wales' mentor and teacher in his early experiences fighting the Welsh border wars. When he died Percy was 39. He was my great hero because I did my D.Phil on Anglo-Scottish border warfare, and had a t-shirt with Harry Percy Rules OK across the front! Good times.

    Just as I was watching this a snake sprang out from under my laptop striking at a gecko which it proceeded to devour head first, from the crown so to speak. Scry that as you might, but it was all very dramatic albeit the snake was not the largest I have ever seen.

    You will note that the background is a snowy winter day but in fact, the battle was fought in July 1403 and the background would be a green summer day, not the grey snowy winter day. The lads who made the series should have checked that!

      In real history Henry Percy was said to be the greatest warrior in history and was in his 30s and Hal was just a boy, Henry fought against the Scots and Welsh for the English king, married into his rival family the Nevilles and basically became one of the most powerful men in kingdom, he fell out with the crown over the fact he had to surrender the soldiers he had captured to the crown, while the King wouldn't pay for his Brother-in-Law to be released from Welsh prison, so he allied with the Welsh and went to war with Henry 4th, Hal's father, in reality, Henry Percy was killed by an arrow, and Hal was present and the battle and was also hit by an arrow but it only scarred him.

    Isn't Henry Percy the founder of Tottenham?

    • @DavBlc7
      @DavBlc7 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, It was actually the area in London, called Tottenham Marshes during the middle ages before London grew big and it is also the place where Henry Percy stayed in while he was in London. That is why the club is called "Tottenham Hotspurs". after himself and the area in London.

    At first I was kind of disappointed by this scene because I'm used to what I've seen on stage and screen in numerous other performances but after seeing this a few times, I really appreciate it's understatement and how it's also really powerful in it's own way. Especially how Tom looks like a child who knows (thinks) he has to put on the crown now and is taking the responsibility but thinking, perhaps, how can I do this without him? Must I be king at his expense?
