    As soon as they start mithering about this and that you just know they are just seeing how many hoops you will jump through. Once they think they can mess you about you can guarantee the end game is not paying or only part paying. You ought to have standard terms and conditions for each job if it is of any size - your trade body should have something you can use. Classic mistake of being a bit short of work and thinking anything is better than nothing - next time I'd keep walking if I were you.

    No work or not let it be a lesson to trust your gut feeling. People like this and we all know who they are without saying never pay for anything and never usually get decent people to do their work if they intend to pay for it. That's why the work was so bad first time around. Chances are you would never have ever got paid no matter what. They need teaching a lesson to stop it happening again to anyone else. Note for the future though if in doubt walk away the signs are always there with people like this. It's better to have no work and the chance of work with someone else that all the hassle and work for free for people like this :)

      @@georgemcclelland5207 you’re totally right. The access points are a TP link in wall. They fit exactly over a normal single back box or data point and push out WiFi to that area. That mechanical HDD is not going to survive in that loft. Summer temps will be 40-45c up there, meaning the HDD will hit 70c at least, and then fail very quickly. The ethernet run was shocking really, i would have done a better job than that. Plus i would have put a small network switch in the loft and then the customer could fit an upstairs WiFi AP to give far superior coverage.

  • @RyanJ_
    @RyanJ_ 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I would avoid putting equipment like DVRs in the loft if possible. The temperature up there can swing from ~0C to over 40C over the course of a day, and this constant cycle of temperature change could shorten the life of electronic equipment like hard drives. Condensation can also form in loft spaces when it's cold, which can also impact the life of electronics. A DVR would be much happier in the living space. Edit: I don't know that specific device, but it looks like you blocked the air vent holes by screwing it to the timber.

    Certainly don't need cat 6 or more for these distances. But the outdoor rating will certainly help the lifespan and is tougher than normal 5e. A single 1080p analogue camera uses approximately 150-200kbps, so that's about a fifth of 1Mbps ! Good clear vid. Thanks

      Personally, I would have used cat6, where I buy it from the price difference is very negligible, I do need cat6 for other jobs, so makes seance to just have the one. Also, future proofing, who knows what cameras we will have in 10-20 years time? 8k and even 16k exist commercially, overkill for home just now, but in the future? What are you saving 50p on cable for the whole job? I sometimes have cat7, price difference is huge. Wouldn't use that here.

I have a small inquiry regarding your content that I hope you might assist me with. I find your videos to be not only very enjoyable but also incredibly informative for those of us who are enthusiastic about DIY projects. In particular, I was quite captivated by this specific video as I am hoping to achieve a similar result in my own home. My residence features a wooden framing system that includes fire blocks between each row, which makes it challenging for the rods to penetrate further into the interior wall structure. Unfortunately, my attempts to utilize these rods have not been fruitful thus far. Additionally, I am a bit apprehensive about drilling holes in the wall, as I fear it might lead to extra patching and an untidy situation. Would you be so kind as to suggest an alternative method that might help me overcome this challenge? I would be immensely grateful for your guidance.

With the above system, Pete can walk away and pretty much guarantee no callbacks, however there are just too many things to go wrong with wireless and battery-dependent devices in terms of local interference, signal jammers, WiFi signal strength and attenuation in any given property, and the expectation for the customer to have to go up a ladder every six months to change batteries.
