The caption says "major brands," yet quite a few important brands are left out... could you do another video, including the rest of the brands...Sennelier, schmincke, Terry ludwig, and henri roche (nice to have but not necessary as it is beyond most artists budget)

This has been hugely helpful to me. I love the softness of pastel and vibrancy of pastel color, but hate the dust. The colored pencil over the pastel pencil allows the colored pencil to be additive to the pastel pigment and pushes the richer pastel color into the paper (and probably minimizes the dust, too). Thank you for the clarity of your explanations and generosity of sharing information. Lovely work!!

Yea so Rembrandt is most defiantly one of the more top of line pastels if you look at the pigments used. They use the same quality as Unison in many of their colors. The price is lower due to machining process. And not handmade, which means more binder so a slightly harder stick. That slightly harder stick is preferred by many as it is the best quality you can get in that hardness, which is a medium soft. It’s not hard like a nupastel or soft like a Schiemenke. So I have to disagree with your statement that Rembrandt is an “ok” “not top of the line.” It is, for its particular hardness. You can’t find better, the blending is fantastic. I have unison, Sennelier, schiemenke, and honestly I prolly use my Rembrandt and nupastels the most due to the harder texture. (preference to my style since I do a lot of details). I wouldn’t classify Rembrandt as a “new artist pastel” - while is may be cheaper than Unison, it is not lesser. Handmade Mguyno is my recommendation for new artist, 30-40 for a set of 40. I would say to any new pastel artist, if you get a 15 count of any brand you’re gonna feel lacking. You’ll want more colors to do harder pieces. Panpastels 10 painting set would be acceptable due to how easy it would be to mix their colors. Anyway, I just don’t think price is universal, now In the pastel world you do get what you pay for to a certain point, but that point ends where Rembrandt and Sennelier begin. So yea, Rembrandt is a top of the line if you want a medium soft pastel. My two cents anyway.
