Bob Marley - I'm Loose (James Brown Imitation) - 1974
Behind this acoustic song "I'm Loose" during Bob's imitation of James Brown ❤
"Marley’s seduction technique, or at least an approximation of it, was captured on tape during that 1974 London visit, although these recordings would not surface until many years later. It’s fascinating to hear him serenading two girls with his guitar, improvising lyrics along the lines of ‘I’m loose.’ He sounds happy and relaxed, making fun of the way he looks and punctuating certain phrases with James Brown-like screams of delight. Five minutes later, and both girls are harmonising along with him, as someone - possibly reggae singer Delroy Washington - accompanies them on percussion. Bob and another female voice can be heard on a song called ‘Lonely Day’, which is clearly unfinished. “Do you think I couldn’t remember the things I’ve said?” he asks, before reminding us that, “things are not always the way they seem.” It’s a song of loss, yet it’s delivered without a trace of self-pity. Neither song would ever be recorded; they were merely compositional fragments, tossed off into the ether as Bob strummed his guitar, searching for inspiration. “Another day, another song” as he puts it.
Chris Blackwell: he’d sit in his little room and listen to every session, then he’d come out and say, ‘That is a different concept of music you’re doing,’ or he’d ask me if I had any weed, because he always used to have a little draw when he was around us. He was a rootsman like that, y’know? We all felt as though we were at the start of something powerful though, because it was at that same time Bob met Julian’s mother [Lucy Pounder], who was such a nice, sweet girl. Everything was going good, I tell you.”

Off the Waĺl was a MONSTER album. It changed MJ's projectory entirely, and became deeply embedded in the conscious of the pop world for many many many months. It was unrelentless. Then this new album of his came out, and many didn't care what it sounded like as long as MJ's name was attached to it. The question was, could it possibly measure up to Off the Wall? After hearing The Girl Is Mine single, I had to wonder. So about the 3rd day after it was released, I snatched it up at the record store. Next day I began playing it on our family's living room stereo system. After the 2nd time listening to it in it's entirety, I concluded to one of my younger brothers that this album was going to be bigger than Off The Wall. He disagreed. We went back and forth. But my opinion of this fresh new album, Thriller- even if it didn't become his biggest album, it would surpass Off the Wall at least in popularity. Neither one of us had any idea...

Michael Jackson's music continues and will always be played because people can separate what he was charged with doing from his art. Elvis met and began dating Priscilla when she was 14. Rock legends Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis were both charged with being involved with underage girls. There are people still listening to Gary Glitter and Jimmy Savile. You'd know about it if their success was bigger. It's simply a matter of what people are willing to ignore or forgive based on their feelings. Donald Trump is a convicted felon and philanderer who instigated the overthrow of the American government. He lies like a rug. And yet, people were willing to look past those things to elect him president. Some despise Michael for what they believe he did but still listen to R. Kelly, who is doing time for sexual abuse of underage girls. It's the way of human nature and our society. And it will never change.
