could it be that they the Coyotes were already with the Americans last year to be the ECHL team and they filled the roster with some of their players
so geographically Idaho would be a better fit for the ECHL team
Is it only me that can only see 5 seconds of this video?
Same!
I think the 2 biggest issues are; the back line defense that keeps setting the goal keeper up for failure and average goal keeper play that can’t overcome difficult situations.
Last night, they didn't! 😅
The central is indeed a very tough division. I think Utah are above the Avs at the moment with the same number of games played and that alone says a lot. Mustn't forget how young this core is, so I think it may still be a year or so more until they find their feet
Thank you for your comment! Really helps the channel. Yeah, I think you are spot on there. Their early success does kinda increase expectations (unfairly). Utah fans know patience for sure. Thank s for watching
Everyone keeps saying he is doing well. Do some stat comparisons with other goalies, shots on goal, GAA, GA, etc... Ingram is not doing well at all
Thank you for your comment. It really helps out. We will definitely do that for sure. Seems like there is more to analyze there for sure. Thanks for watching.
I don’t think .500 is out of reach over course of the season. I’m still concerned about the back line and goal tending.
Thank you for the comment. Really helps. I agree, hopefully the recent trades and hopefully we get some people back to bolster the defense. Options at goaltender needs a deeper dive for sure.
In their inaugural season, 1994-95, the Grizzlies were the Denver Grizzlies of the IHL. First in-person games I ever went to, watching Tommy Salo and Ziggy Palffy play, as they were affiliated with the NY Islanders. They moved to Utah the next season because Denver wasn't quite a big enough hockey market yet to support them too after the Nordiques moved here and became the Avs. P.S.- go with Mammoth, Yeti is too closely affiliated with our previous shoulder logo 😁
Thank you for the comment. It’s a big help. Interesting breakdown there. I honestly didn’t know thst the Grizzlies were originally in Denver. Very cool. Mammoth I think would be good but we shall see. Thanks for watching.
Goalie no we a couple defensive back line that can stop anyone, but if we could get a top Goalie why not he have the money
Thank you for the comment. Don’t know how much we can put this on Connor. I think this team just needs ten more games or so to gel and we will see what we got. New goalie? Possibly, but I just think he needs more defensive help at this point. Thanks for watching
Conner Ingram is such a stud, I hate seeing people wanting to trade for a “new goalie”. Ingram is only getting better.
Thank you for the comment. Agreed. Conner is good! We just need some help from the defensive back line, it might just need a few more games for this new defense to gel with the rest of the team. We will see. Thanks for watching g
They can score but the back line and goalkeeping can’t stop anything. It’s a major concern.
Thank you for the comment. Is the more on the back line or the goal keeping at this point? We seen another tough shut out so I’m curious what you think.
the Tuscon Roadrunners are said to be moving to Reno when the Reno arena is built that is if ever gets built with that Owners track record
Right?! Fair point there. They are 0-3 so far in getting their hockey team a home.
The only problem with the game was the Delta Center, specifically the terrible sight lines. Other than that it was awesome.
Thank you for the comment. Yes it is terrible, but temporary. SEG didn’t expect to get a team this quickly and the nhl knew the limitations of the arena before they came to Ryan with the proposal. Still beats playing at AZ State though right?
I hope neither
Bit salty there haha. You a soccer fan or something? lol thanks for the comment and for watching
@UtahHockeyDNA I'm a San Antonio Spurs fan that's why. Always hated the Utah Jazz
@@gleniogoalhornsstudios spurs. Are trash and they sucks and they have bad records
I believe historically the Kings were the Yotes rivals.
Great info! Thanks for watching!!
Good luck guys!
Thanks much appreciated
Go Roadrunners
Thank you for your comment.
UHC will because they have down to earth athletes. NBA has a bunch of spoiled, egotistical multimillionaires.
Basketball players are much different people than hockey players that’s for sure. I feel like most of the hockey players play because they truly love the sport and play with passion and purpose. Most basketball players play because they realize it’s their gift and chance to make generational wealth. Fewer NBA players every year play because they truly love the sport. Thanks for watching and for the comment!
@@UtahHockeyDNA Well said.
Great channel. Good luck with the new season.
Thank you! And thanks for watching!!
Utah Hockey Club will have a much easier time attracting top talent, and hockey relies less on talent than basketball, and hockey relies more on team chemistry and individual effort than basketball. So, in hockey, it is easier to win without the top talent. Plus, Salt Lake City is more of a natural hockey city than a natural basketball city. So, the Utah HC will have an easier time attracting top talent than the Jazz ever will.
Totally agree, SLC is a winter sports city and it just feels like its more hockey than basketball. I think they will find some success attracting good solid players and ultimately winning a championship before the Jazz do. Thanks for watching and for the comment!
Huge signing. One of the best NHL defenceman. Good move by Utah. Utah has plenty of young players. They can afford to give away a few youngsters and draft picks for a still-young top talent and double-Stanley-Cup winner like Sergachev.
Thank you for the comment. Agreed the trade did cost young talent but nothing that this team can recoup with their draft capital. Thanks for watching
UHC I hope!
Totally agree! Thanks for watching!!
The primary development will come from the Tucson Roadrunners. Meruelo still owns the Roadrunners and is currently in development for a new hockey arena in Reno. The Roadrunners currently have a 2 year lease in Tucson with an optional 3rd year. I have a feeling that the Roadrunners will move as soon as the new arena is done. With the NHL you will have prospects in several different leagues. That is why you have the affiliate links in the ECL and will probably have one in the OHL. You have draft picks that are currently playing in the KHL in Russia, in European leagues, and in collegiate teams. That being said the primary development will come from the AHL, currently the Tucson Roadrunners.
This is great insight! Thanks for tuning in and thank you for the comment!
UHC. The structure of the NHL isn’t as small market averse. Contracts and players are vastly different than the NBA. Financials are different. So young team, draft, and smart GM means UHC has leg up. For now. Now to be fair the Jazz aren’t in that early 80’s malaise. Those were tough years.
Totally agree! We had another comment that brought a great point, do you think the Jazz were so popular in town for so long because they were the only professional sport? Will bringing hockey surpass the popularity of the Jazz? Thanks for watching!
@@UtahHockeyDNA in part but Utah supported the old ABA team that was winning. I also don’t discount the LHM factor. West High grad, business owner, leveraged everything he had for the Jazz and he was 100% all in on the State. People could see his passion and love for his team and home. Also he backed up the talk. When they started winning it was with drafted and developed talent so fans could see the result. Hockey? Utah also supported the old Golden Eagles. A tough hard nosed team that reflected the market. The old Salt Palace was always rockin and rowdy no matter how many attended. Ryan Smith needs to do major work for fans to see the talk payoff. We all want him to deliver.
Go UHC!
Yes sir! Thanks for watching!!
I look forward to watching him progress
Thank you for the comment. We are as well. Thanks for watching
They wear socks (google connor mcdavid's socks and be shocked) but what you see here are not socks but more like leg warmers part of the uniform, but they are called socks which is the confusing thing
Excited to see what Doan is going to bring to Utah. I watched his now famous first game with the Yotes and I was so impressed!
Right?! Love that level of production and the “stay ready mentality”. Thanks for watching
Really looking forward to this 1st season for the Utah Hockey Club! The uniforms look great! Lets go! #utahhockeyclub
Gonna be a good season. Thanks for watching.
This Jets fan says hello. Welcome to the Central Divison, Western Conference everybody. You will enjoy this season, as you are competing in the best and the toughest Divison in the NHL. Arizona was not a good team, but you could see they were getting set to turn the corner. It will be fun to see your season unfold and if you develop a rivalry with another team in the division.
Thank you for for the comment and the warm welcome. Really looking forward to this season and seeing how the team progresses. Look forward to developing a rival or two. There were alot of folks at the intro conference that said Avalanche are going to be a rival, but only time will tell. Thanks for watching
The grizzeles signed the contract in 2018 so if the math is right this should be the last yr for the contract with the aves
Yeah that’s kind of what we were thinking as well, would you want the Grizz to be Utah Hockeys affiliate team? Thanks for watching?
That’s what we were thinking! Would you want them to be the affiliate team of Utah Hockey? Thanks for watching!
Tucson roadrunners please do basic research if your going to cover a sport
Thank you for the comment. That’s a bit bit picky. it’s not like we got them in the wrong state. Do your basic grammar and capitalize the team name as well as the city. See we can do it too. Thanks for watching
Also, the ECHL no longer stands for East Coast Hockey League. It is just the letters. So you called the league by the wrong name and used the wrong league logo. Please do your research if you're going to cover a sport.
The teams looking good but come on name them "Skinwalkers"!
Thanks for the comment. Why skinwalkers? Look forward to hearing back from you.
@@UtahHockeyDNA Hi, The skinwalker ranch is one of the more popular things Utah is known for. Now take the indigenous culture, the Coyotes used some influence in the logo and jersey look. you can crossover that to Utah in their logo and design with the name. Next, a skinwalker as believed by indigenous peoples is some thing you don't mess with, what better way to intimidate. Look how many sports teams use a animal as their name and logo for the same reasons. Now marketing, they can piggy back on the popularity of the show with out being directly involved in the show or ranch, just feeding off it for revenue on marketing. And, it just sounds cool lol. That's just my take, TY!
Can't stand the Allen Americans so even though this year they will be affiliated with our new NHL team, won't be rooting for them.
This is actually awesome. How come you don’t like them?? Thanks for watching!!
@@UtahHockeyDNA Lots of bad blood between the Grizzles and the Allen Americans. Allen Americans play dirty, take lots of cheap shots.
I love the Grizzlies and have been going to games for years. I'm hoping the Grizzlies move up and become the AHL affiliate. ECHL players rarely become NHL players, so having them become the AHL team would be great!
Thank you for the comment. That is a very good point. League promotion is a possibility. Maybe some research into. That would be worth it. Grizz up to AHL makes sense. Thanks for watching
Utah hockey club should be affiliate with their echl Utah grizzlies 🏒
Thank you for the comment. Agreed. It seems like it would be the right move. The Grizzlies have been here for decades it just makes sense. Thanks for watching
They bolth start with the name with Utah and it works out
'Defensive person' made me laugh out loud. Great content guys, keep it up. Not long until season starts, can't wait to see how the team adjusts to the new market
lol yeah sometimes we suck at talking! But thanks for the support!! Should be a great year!
Yup we like to poke fun at ourselves a bit when we miss speak. It’s all in good fun.
He played 81/82 games regular season. And all play off games. Amazing player at penalty shots
Thank you for watching!!
Great signing for the Utah Hockey Club! Armstong making some serious moves right out the gate! Gotta love it!
Looking forward to this season! Thanks for the comment!!
There is little doubt that the Sergachev trade will help transform UHC into a respectable, if not potent team. Let's not forget that the additions of John Marino and Ian Cole will impact us positively and immensly as well. Arizona's defense, last year, was the achillies heel of the team. These addtions have changed the entire makeup. And, I don't think UHC is done making further changes to positively impact the team. I'm definitly excited. October can't come soon enough.
Such great points! That might be what we talk about in the video this week is those additions! Thanks for watching and for the comment!!
QMJHL = Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League. Quebec's entry into the CHL (Canadian Hockey League). It's a junior league and prime drafting source. Their championship is the Memorial Cup.
Thanks so much for the clarification! We appreciate it! Thanks for watching!!
Keep em comin' DNA!
Thank you for the comment! Will do Noob! Thanks for watching
Looking forward to the season!
Thank you for your comment. It’s gonna be a great intro season for sure! Thanks for watching
As a Panthers/Kraken fan and South Florida resident, there is not a more perfect place the NHL could’ve gone than this to Utah. I don’t get the backlash from people. I can see Connor Ingram taking you guys on a run next season…
Thank you for the comment. We agree! Geographically a perfect spot for any pro sports team to land. Congrats on your Panthers first Cup! Thanks for watching
Good stuff guys. Liam O'Brien will be a fan favorite!
Thank you very much! Yeah he seems like he will be an easy guy to cheer for! Thanks for watching!!
Utah Yeti really rolls off the tongue. I'm not keen on these jerseys, they better come with a killer design once they settle on a name!
Totally agree, we think the jerseys are good for not having a name but when they do get one the jerseys better be awesome! Thanks for the comment!
Utah Venom = Scorpion themed
Scorpion themed would be pretty cool! Thanks for the comment!
I love how my province produces some of the best (and controversial) players in the league. Were small but mighty!
Thank you for the comment. Heck ya man! Keep them coming haha. thanks for watching
Spicy Tuna! Haha when he announced that at the team introduction at the delta center was Hilarious! Congratulations! I feel like we don’t know the back story’s of our Utah Yeti players
I see what you did there! Willing that name into existence. I like it! Yeah, that’s why we are doing these player profiles to try and let the Utah fan base who these guys are. Thanks for the comment and for watching
@@UtahHockeyDNA I was a gigantic hockey fan in the early 90s… In my dad always talked about going to golden eagles games, now mother would not let me play hockey because it was too cold and cold violent but I always wanted to play goaltender anyway (as I’ve played Triple-A soccer as a keeper) The weird singers as when Matt Randy made his NHL big deal and then blew out the Internet with his fighting that got me back into watching hockey again..And I made a comment on one of the videos about him that since Utah does not have a professional NHL, MLB or NFL Team… I grew up being incredibly non-bias towards any payment as leagues since you told army major league sports team is the jazz… and I would make a great referee since Utah works all the other major sports teams. So I grew up always loving various NHL teams, and colliate football teams (until the Utes started to win PAC-12 championships… but the point of this comment is I said I wish Utah would bring back to Salt Lake golden eagles for an NHL hockey team, because I thought Utah would be ready for one or two main reasons number one we have a growing population in our state, and number two guitar has an actual winter season.. with the greatest Snow on Earth only 45 minutes from an International Airport. And then boom two months later it’s announced that Utah is going to be acquiring the Phoenix coyotes. (perhaps my thoughts Were manifested… Or that somebody important Read my comments and realised yourself that Utah would make a great NHL location. (so Smith entertainment group…You guys wanna hire a young man who needs to be blessed with his dream career, and work for the (Unnamed) Utah Hockey Team!?!? LETS GO!!!!! (no but really, Smith Entertainment Group, you should hire A Born & Raised Son of Utah) I’m just a couple years younger than Mr Smith, There for me and him both grew up having our heart is broken by Michael Jordan and his Chicago balls in the late 90s. So please pass on this information to the @SmithEntertainmentGroup , because I have Voice and face suitable for TV. Thank You, D.J. Koppenaal
It’s crazy to think that we are the same age as Ryan Smith. Definitely makes me feel like I’m under achieving in life but let’s not open that door hahah. Being a Jazz fan and running into Jordan then 10 yrs later keep running into Kobe made us Jazz fans a bit bitter.
