what have we let THEM do ? I and generations of my family walked these streets , got on these "trolley buses & tram cars "(electric is in vogue now ) what have we done ?

Spent many happy hours in Townhead Library - helped me in later life!
I remember all of these streets as a kid grew up roystonhill corner of earlstone avenue1952 to 1970
There is majesty and sadness here.
Oh the memories Stephen I think I walked every rd & street in these pics a million times & still doing it to this day aye you can leave the Garngad but the Garngad never leaves you

My cousin lived on the 11th floor of the block that was demolished...We were walking down Roystonhill and we passed a group of boys one threw a bottle at my head missing by inches..was about 50 years ago I was about 12
My dad worked in the cally railway for years, he was the health and safety man..

I walked away long ago he has alot to answer for wrecked a lot of lives thank you I never got a explanation until now
All i remember was deprivation and trying to avoid packs of predatory gangs or lone wolf evil bastards. Special mention to the leverage family..you shower of cunts, thank got u wer chased out.

Theres a good video on BBC site Stephen. Its about the city decision to pull down the buildings, but the shots across our end of the city are great.
This has done me in.,,, But love it, These days are gone, I miss them. Love Glasgow. Love Scotland, Love being Scottish. x
I get a big rush of nostalgia after your pics Stephen. I got knocked down at that right hand side of 'The Big Glen' and then also remembered the 'Paper Guy' who used to be outside The Wee Rock at about half ten, it used to draw a big cue. :)

I lived on Alexandra Parade behind he Royal Infirmary, we wen o Casino and the Carlton on a Saturday morning for he pictures, I lived here 1948-1958 then we moved along the Parade near Whitehill Street. I left Glasgow 1966@ 17 years old.
Andrew Blackadder I lived in Aberdour Street from 1942 until 1967. A Whitehill swimming baths pal, later to become our vet, was Peter Blackadder. Any relation?
