Israel launched airstrikes on Friday morning in response to a militant rocket attack on Lebanon, raising fears of an all-out conflict in the coming days.
The Israeli army announced before dawn Friday that it was "currently attacking in Lebanon," without giving details, but Lebanese media reported an explosion south of the city of Tyre.
A witness told AFP that at least two shells fell near a Palestinian refugee camp near Tyre, while there were further reports of Israeli planes being heard over the town of Naqoura and near Nabatieh.
The Israel Defense Forces claimed that they were attacking targets belonging to Hamas.
