Correct
Charles... You're very welcome 😘
You're the best!
Thank you Adam!!!!
I'm sure their significant others are thrilled. I'm not jealous. Nope, not at all. Great video fellas.
Thanks for being a loyal viewer.
It is really hard to talk about stuff in front of people in person. I always feel like I'm in a job interview or something when I have to do that no matter how well I know the people I'm talking to. I find it much easier to type or write my thoughts down and send them to people. I've had people ask me to do interviews on TH-cam videos about things like what it was like to be a kid in the 70's and 80's when the collectibles or games they talk about on their channel were new. I'd agree at first but each time (like two times so far) the closer it would get to the recording time, the more nervous I'd get to the point where I would just feel sick and have to politely and humbly ask if they'd be okay with me sending them written answers to their interview questions. One of the guys did agree to that and posted the written interview with me on his website. That was fun, but I just can't handle live interviews very well. If I was at a convention and you guys were there, I'd try to get an autograph from you. I bet it is kinda weird at first to realize that you've become famous enough to have people ask you for autographs. Weird, but I bet it's a bit satisfying though to know that people appreciate what you do that much. Sabaac is a really fun card game for sure! I'm so glad that they finally made an official version of it that we can get and play. The marketed it as the Han Solo Card Game, but it is as close to the Sabaac described in the books and in the movie as they could probably get for the price point they figured most people would try it at. Sabaac in the pre-Disney Han Solo novels is even more elaborate than what they showed in the Solo movie. What makes Nashville Hot Chicken different is the pickles in it. It's something different from the Buffalo Wings thing that started in the Northeast. The sauces they use for both of those are far too hot for me. I've tried them but I couldn't eat much of it and wimped out and switched to something like honey barbeque or something. No amount of blu cheese can make up for how hot the official hot sauces for those things are. I'd agree that when it comes to beer, the more foam on top the better. A good bartender can put a big head of foam on top of a glass without having it overflow. There's a trick to it. Laughing so hard that you cry and get side aches is the best! It's so good for you. Major stress reliever. Glad you guys had a great time. Sorry that you had a hard time on Sunday at the restaurant. Some people just don't care about anyone but themselves and do stuff like steal someone else's table. That's so annoying. $200!?! It's crazy what stuff costs, especially downtown or next to a convention center. It's like that here in Vegas too. The farther you get away from the convention centers and The Strip, the better when it comes to prices. It's fun to look around on The Strip, but it's so expensive now. Used to be pretty cheap back before they built all of the 'boutique' casinos and celebrity restaurants. I've heard the music scene is amazing in Nashville. Glad you guys checked it out. Yeah, I know what you mean. The older I get the younger 21 year old's look. They look like they are 12 or something to me at this point. Airport layovers are awful! Sometimes, when the layover goes on for hours, I begin to wonder if it would have been faster to drive. Somehow, time moves slower during airport layovers. I bet the toy shows in Ohio are really something else since that's the home of Kenner and stuff like that. Thanks for sharing these stories, guys! I sure enjoyed it.
Thanks for the thoughtful comment! It's really interesting to hear about your experiences with public speaking and interviews. I can definitely relate to the nerves and anxiety that can come with it. I'm glad you enjoy Sabaac! It's a fun and challenging game. And you're right about Nashville Hot Chicken. The pickles really elevate the flavor. I'm not a fan of super spicy food either, so I can understand why you'd prefer something milder. We definitely had a great time in Nashville, but it wasn't without its challenges. It's frustrating when people are rude and inconsiderate. But we try to focus on the positive and enjoy the good times. Thanks again John, for your kind words and for sharing your thoughts. We appreciate your support!
@@FiveIdiotsTalkingToys You bet!
They had that beer system at the blue jays stadium when I went. Seemed like a lot less waste, and it limited the foam. I do hit the magnet once, and then learned from my mistake.
update... pressed play again and Shane immediately reflected on this.
They have that at a brewery by me too, it's pretty cool.
Thanks for watching Cody!
Great trip, fun recap. Thanks for watching!
Thanks Shane, I enjoyed it
Glad you enjoyed it!

Hey, the Dropkick Murphy's! Good band, John. I really like their version of The Wild Rover. Issues with microphones and streaming speeds is partly why I don't do live streaming of stuff. I've had guys ask me to join them in virtual RPGs online. I tried it a couple times and it was so frustrating because people's mics kept cutting out and video frames kept dropping. I don't think we had good enough internet speeds and equipment. The Yankees almost...almost won the World Series. It was fun to see them in the series against the Dodgers again. Too bad they only won one game. The game they won was a good one though. Flying is a horrible experience for me. I fly as seldom as possible. Airports are too stressful and planes are too crowded. I'm glad that you guys post recaps of conventions and there are videos and articles about them. I get too nervous in big crowds so I seldom go to conventions. I only go to the really small ones and only stay for a day of them. They have a few small ones here in Las Vegas that I go to. I try to go on the quietest days. What's also really great is when I can volunteer to help set up and take down. Then, you can really chat with the vendors and guests more and you don't have to buy tickets. I'd rather work hard to set up booths and displays etc. than to stand in lines and wade through crowds. Great Luigi costume there! Halloween is so fun! It and Thanksgiving are my favorite holidays. Kids are really something else aren't they? When I make my own guacamole, I leave out tomatoes and hot sauce and only put in diced onions, cilantro, diced olives and avocado. I 'spice' it with smoked paprika and garlic salt. Sounds like you guys had a great time.
The Blue Milk Luke Lego minifig is hilarious, Charles! When I make blue milk, I use the blue Gatorade powder and mix it with almond milk, so the version I've tasted tastes like almonds. I have never seen it in stores. The moc Luke Stormtrooper is pretty cool, Brandon! I especially like the Death Star Gunner. Very cool design on him. It's nice to find a POTF card that doesn't have a yellowed bubble. I had quit asking for Star Wars figures by the time that Power of the Force came out so I don't have any of those from my childhood. Short Circuit was a really funny movie. It's my wife's favorite sci fi movie. Johnny Five is probably the most realistic robot design that I've ever seen in a movie. More practical than having the robot walk on two legs. Companies like Boston Dynamics and Tesla are trying to make walking robots but they are still pretty shaky. The Desert Skiff mini rig is really neat, Shane! One of the mini rigs that they did that looks like something that could have been in the movies. This one is so minty other than the messed up box corners. Unused stickers and bagged parts! Inserts! Nice! It's amazing that any of the boxes from this era survive. Most kids threw them away. I still have the boxes for my vehicles and creatures, but don't have any of the action figure cards anymore. My boxes aren't minty due to being moved so many times but I'm glad I still have them. The mini rigs were a great idea because they take up less space and cost a lot less than the full sized vehicles they made. That's one sweet looking Squid Head on card Chris! It was not one of the ones I wanted as a kid, but I like them now. My wife would like a Strawberry Shortcake figure in box. She had that set as a kid and still has a few of them. I'm one of those lucky guys who married a girl who is just as interested in collecting and old toys as I am. I wish I had bought one of each of those figures when they were $1 a piece. Not sure why I didn't. It never occurred to me back then that these toys would be worth big bucks someday. I think the only collectibles of 'kids stuff' that I was aware of in those days that was worth anything were some of the really rare baseball cards. Didn't think of toys as being valuable collectibles when I was younger. But like you guys say, if you never sell the toys you do buy then they aren't much of an investment. It's a catch 22. The stuff I have that I like the most are the only things I have that are really worth anything. The ones I'm actually willing to sell are the more common and less valuable things. I used to go to Sir Jim's Hobby and Toy Castle and it had everything you could want from Star Wars and every toy and hobby line back in the 70's and 80's. I loved hanging out there even if I wasn't buying anything. Jim was a really nice guy to visit with. He had shelves that were about eight feet tall and an entire aisle full of Star Wars figures then. Had the toys in the big boxes on the top shelf. He'd open one of each of the toy vehicles that Kenner sent him and had them set up in displays. He'd hang one of each of the Star Wars ships from the ceiling. The last time I went back to the town in Nebraska where his store was, the store was gone which is too bad as it actually looked like a castle on the outside with crenulations on the roof and a drawbridge in front of the front door. The toy stores I go to now are small by comparison but I've heard that there are still some big, impressive stores out there. A dollar had the buying power of $5 back in 1978. Average hourly wages were about $2 back then. Now, hourly wage is about $7 to $16 or something depending on the state. So, I prices of things are kinda relative. If I see a new action figure for less than $18 I consider them. If they are less than $8 and I don't already have one of that figure I consider it a good deal. Fun episode, guys! Thanks for the shout out. :) That really surprised me. TH-cam channels like yours are more interesting to me than most of what is on TV. They always make me laugh and I often learn something new. TH-cam channels are great because we can respond to the videos and chat about them with other viewers and the guys who post them. It's better than TV.
Thanks John and just thanks for being you. We are glad you enjoy our content and express it in your comments.
I still can’t believe how many Mocs exist! 😮
There are so many
What happened to Won Carlos? His comments were funny.
Last I heard he got detained in Ibiza
Imagine seeing Star Wars toys at 70% off today… collectors would be sprinting down the aisles like it’s Black Friday.
Every now and then one of the dollar stores near our house has some of the newer Star Wars toys in there. A while back, they had a bunch of the Rogue One figures. My wife got me one of each of them.
Haha, that would be amazing
That’s crazy John, I remember that
If you could go back to 80’s, which clearance figure would you stock up on the most? Which one do you regret missing out on?
All of them. Lol
Where is John, is he at a Megadeath concert or a Porta potty?
Both. Lol
Do you think Hasbro has learned from Kenner’s experience, or are we seeing history repeat itself with modern collectibles?
I think Hasbro makes plenty of mistakes and there are still pegwarmers regularly!
Somehow Kenner didn’t foresee that nerds like us would be obsessing over these toys decades later.
Oh, I think they might have. Or at least they make millions of these things just for the kids, who knows?
All those clearance figures we didn’t buy… just think, we’d be rolling in dough now.
Totally. We're glad you enjoyed it.
Charles, I’ve been trying to find that Luke LEGO with the blue milk. I think it was from 2019…
Not sure, but around then, yeah. We're glad you're part of our community.
Looking back, do you think Kenner could have done anything to keep the line going longer, or was it inevitable?
It was probably inevitable. By 1984, a lot of kids, even ones young enough to be Kenner's main customers, were switching from action figures to video games. The NES was becoming popular and kids were asking for an NES and NES games rather than AT-ATs and such. Most families could only afford either video games or toy lines but not both. I think Kenner would have needed to pack toys in with videogames in order to keep it going. Like a bundle of Empire Strikes Back NES game with a Snowspeeder also in the box.
In 1985, these figures were just warming pegs-now they’re burning holes in our wallets
Sooo many holes. We love hearing from our fans, so thanks!
Back then, Yak Face was worth a buck or two. Now it’s a mortgage payment.
On what size house? LOL. Stay tuned for more great content.
Ah, if only we had a time machine to go back to those clearance aisles… Imagine the haul!
Fire up the Delorean. Your support means a lot to us.
Why do you think so many of these figures ended up on clearance in 1984-1985? Was it the market, the movies, or just bad timing?
I think the interest was dying once the movies were out of the theatres. No content to push the toys
I had that mini sail skiff, but never understood why Boba is on it
Good point! They should have put Klaatu or Weequa in it.
Us either! Thanks for watching
Kenner was practically giving these figures away, and now we’re paying collector prices at auction
So true. We're working hard to bring you the best content, so stay tuned!
Remember when you could find Luke Skywalker in the bargain bin? Yeah, those were the days.
We were too young, or we would have bought them all! We're so lucky to have such great viewers.
Wait wait... I blew who?????
It's spelled "blue", and we're talking a dairy beverage here!
It was a Wednesday evening here in Georgia. I had to catch up on reports after travelling for business earlier in the week. As I sat here and worked away, glancing out the window from time to time, I knew I wouldn't make it much longer without having some sort of entertainment in the background. Was it to be Spotify tonight? Perhaps the John Williams playlist? Nay...it was to be the Five Idiots Talking Toys podcast for this guy. The show started off as it typically does with a brief outtake or some sort of shenanigans. However, as the show officially began I learned that it would be only Four Idiots tonight as the great Georgia Bulldog, Mr. John was AWOL this evening. The episode tonight? Wins and Wiffs... We begin with Charles and some sort of Lego nonsense. I honestly got more work during his segment as I paid little attention to Legos (I mean Lego). On deck was Brandon with some very nice vintage POTF figures that were quite impressive. However, he ruined the moment by talking in a most horrific robot voice so I muted the show for a few minutes. Next we had Shane showing off a nice Desert Skiff mini-rig that was very nice...I still had the video on mute and I have to admit, Shane sounds much better when muted. Finally, we end up with Christopher displaying a beautiful vintage tri-logo Squid. I did unmute the video only to find Christopher telling some bullshit story about how some stranger sent him 10 of these exquisite MOC's in the mail and told him just to give him whatever (knowing Chris...he probably gave him sticker price). Overall, another solid episode overall. However, the obsession over drinking out of John's leg brace is quite disturbing. That smell....ooof! Upon completing the 26 minutes and 16 seconds of this video I did realize something crucial...that I would never get that time back and I need to get my ass back to work. GO BRAVES!
Hahahahahah
Hi, I’m writing 12 paragraphs before the end of the week. Anyone else?
FALSE. Thanks for watching
