These "Chào + Pronouns" things are for foreigners or some North people using it. In fact nobody ever say "Chào" to each other. Close or not close there are different ways for greeting in different times of the day. For example greeting at the morning, we say "Ăn sáng chưa + pronouns?", afternoon greeting we say "Mới ngủ trưa dậy hả + pronouns?" or "Hôm nay không ngủ trưa hả + pronouns?" We do asking aka "Hỏi thăm" for greeting. If not asking directly to the person we are talking to, we can ask how their family member is, like "Chú ổng đâu rồi cô Ba, ổng đi nhậu nữa rồi hả?" This is also a way of greeting.
Can you help distinguish the đ and t sound? It is really hard to compare 😢
Very good video for the Vietnamese alphabet. Thank you for making this video. 😊
This was helpful, thank you. But I'm intimidated by the vowel sounds! Sometimes I couldn't hear the difference!

Do you have any dipthong charts similar to your vowel chart video?
I don't unfortunately, since dipthongs are the combination of 2 or 3 vowels so it cannot be put in a vowel chart since it's more of like a glide between those vowels. So there's no fixed positions for them in a vowel chart. Hope this helps :)
This was the single best video on Vietnamese pronunciation I have ever found. Thank youZ

I'm autistic and hence have very limited capabilities of modulating my voice. I'd like to learn it and I think I understand it, but can't find a way to produce the sounds. I guess tonal languages are not for me😢
The problem you have with relating the first syllable to "sing" is when you pronounce sing, the g makes the sound unique. Nothing like sin or si. The ing sound is not what you are looking to hear... so even if it's the closest you know of, it just confuses me trying to pronounce it. Closer to me to just a nnnn sound.or na.
This is so good, very very useful, better than paid ones, I loved the way she said "oh my God" after completing the first row :)
It's really useful
Thank you
Thank you so much i really like tge way your explanation
26:41 🥬 cabbage? Or waste in English aka garbage… are you saying cabbage? Are you still active on this channel?
I mean 'garbage' or waste
Hey fantastic explanation!!!! Thank you so much
I am not sure about your pronounciation because TRAN is corresponded to the ancient Han people last name "陳" while your pronounciation sounds like "張" to me. Very weird!
Very good helpfull vid
Easy to understand, a great video to start off 💯
these videos, including your part 1 and 2 dipthrong series are really helpful. I really like how when you give us a word with the vowel or dipthrong, you pronounce the dipthrong first, and then the tone, and then the entire word. Really helps a lot!
Awesome!!! Thanks for sharing valuable videos. I really appreciate it. Happy memorial day! Take care yourself be well.
Thank you. Such a thorough explanation. As an English speaker, CH and TR sound the same, and the beginning sound sounds like a "J" in English.

❤❤❤
Some corrections/explanation: -ă is not pronounced different because of the ending consonant. The ă in the alphabet is pronounced different because it lacks an ending consonant, but ă has to be always followed by another letter and can’t be in final position. Since in the alphabet it doesn’t have a letter come after it just gets pronounced the same as ‘a’ except it gets the rising tone to distinguish it from ‘a’. Same goes to â and ơ. -Vietnamese b and đ are implosive which means air gets pulled in when pronouncing it, rather than pulling it out. So it’s not the same in English. B and Ð is also pre-glottalized. The ipa for b and đ are /ʔɓ/ and /ʔɗ/ and not /b/ and /d/ - IPA for d is not /y/ but /j/ - IPA for e is not /e/ but /ɛ/ -You pronounced g as /g/ while in Vietnamese it’s /ɣ/, though I’m also guilty of pronouncing it as /g/
This video would be more interesting if there was some Vietnamese in it!
Hello 😊 Can you please recommend a textbook?
I've not had a look at Vietnamese learning textbooks, so I'm afraid I cannot give you any recommendation :(

Hi this video is great, can you do more like this from the very start. Tones and pronunciation.
what about the V pronounced as a y like in yellow? My fiance's name is Vu and his family calls him "You" isn't that a southern thing?
Yess, in Southern accent, many people (not all) tend to switch V sound to Y sound
