Frank Lad is the author of Just Plain Wrong: The Dalliance of Quantum Theory with the Defiance of Bell's Inequality. The educated public have long been regaled with "the mysteries of quantum physics", which enshroud far-flung claims about the fundamental nature of matter. These rely on a stunning proposition of quantum theory arising in the 1960s and contested through the subsequent sixty years...

Children have questions and it's not always easy to answer them. One way to do this is through stories, and teaching lessons to children through stories is as old as time itself. Kathi's unique approach using he...

A very interesting podcast,
hello mahasamatman , not sure just where you are coming from. i mentioned clearly in the interview that the mass of a photon is something on the order of 10^(-48) grams. as to the contradiction introduced by GHSZ into their analysis, you will have to read the book. so much of what you write is erratic. Aspect/Bell inequality is about the polarisations of a pair of photons, and the original Bell about the magnetic spins of pair of electrons, not about the double slit experiment. as to so-called entanglement, you'll find it has to do with the specification of a symmetric distribution, a common feature of many statistical situations. at any rate, please read the book and challenge me on any particular detail. you'll be welcome. best wishes, frank
@mahasamatman12
He simply does not understand the question the Bell inequality is trying to solve. Nor does he understand the concept of entanglement, which is why he comes to the conclusion it's simple randomness. In his paper, he dismisses the hidden variable which of course is crucial, it's literally what people want to know. So he ignores the question and then says it is within parameters of simple randomness, which nobody denies. It's the defined randomness that puzzles people and some people like Einstein wanted the equations to include a hidden variable so things are linear and "real" while others didn't. So Frank Lad got that backward and he basically proves the opposite he thinks he is proving, but just by assuming he is right, not based on any experience, mental or real. But really he is not even engaging the discussion.
Jesus, this is by a million miles the worst account of Bell's inequality that you can find on TH-cam. This is like MAGA morons thinking they can do physics!
He couldn't even understand the question you asked him about the famous double slit experiment, instead rambling aimlessly about photon polarization!
Lol, "the photon has a small mass"... This tells you anything you need to know about this crackpot 😂
I'm sure you could contact him and do a debate and educate him, maybe put the details to your work and books in the comments.
@@davidwatsonpodcast "Studied in detail by a minimum of five thousand professional physicists over the course of more than thirty years, it is surprising that this error of simple logic has not been identified before..." . Doesn't this immortal line raise some suspicion about the level of self-awareness - even for someone like you who obviously had never heard before of Bell's inequalities? Doesn't it reveal the mindset of a conspiracy theorist who thinks he knows better than 5000 professional physicists ?
@@mahasamatman12 I made it clear at the beginning, my knowledge of maths, is the ability to spell the word. And, no it doesn't raise my awareness as Frank says himself the physicists don't agree with him and he points out from his point of view where he believes the flaw in the thinking is. As I suggested, contact him and debate with him. You're clearly in a much better place to do this than I am.
@@davidwatsonpodcast He couldn't even understand the question you asked him about the famous double slit experiment, instead rambling aimlessly about photon polarization!
@@mahasamatman12 And I couldn't remember what its was called either. My memory recalled a video I saw and I didn't even know if I was talking about the right thing. Just like I didn't know I he was talking about photo polarization. What exactly did he say that was wrong? And I mean this sincerely because I don't know!
Great interview with my highly respected friend.
Thank you, I really enjoyed talking with Donald.
The last part, where you two share your passion for Calvin and & Hobbes, illustrates the limits of AI for copywriting. You couldn't have that sort of conversation with AI nor between two AI agents. That's because AI has no living experience and no emotion - which is problematic for a good copywriter!
You're spot on. The way Alex and I connected over a comic strip has to be experienced to have the connection. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Great interview!
Sue ..this is so great. I really love the way you do honour Patrick. 😍
Thank you Regine!
Great show! Thanks for sharing these stories!
Thank you for watching, I appreciate it.
This was a very informative conversation💜
Thank you. I really enjoyed the conversation.
Absolutely loved the podcast David & your guest Alicia was so open & honest, to share her story with us, really interesting & thought provoking, I like your interviewing, you really listen, such a poignant subject, it's deep isn't it...I found my friend who had ended his life & literally not a week goes by I don't replay that in my head, or see my friend dead, that happened 30 years ago, it's like I can't unsee it or unfeel it, I just can't...I found your podcast by accident, happy I did & have subscribed 😊
Hi, thank you for your comment. It's such a difficult subject, and Alicia was amazing and so open. I'm sorry for you loss, and understand exactly what you mean. As I said in the podcast the pictures behind me are of my friend Nick and he died, largely because of alcohol abuse. I put those pictures there when I remember him at his best as a young man in his 20's. I did this because I didn't want to remember him as the body identified. Thank you for subscribing, it's appreciated.

Thank you gentlemen. Yes the public weal is disenchanted with corruption in public office - especially re the daily political bias we see re the police. Good policing v. bad policing: comments being made without credible research: see Horrocks v. Lowe [1975]. Many willfully if not invincibly ignorant have shown their ignorance about proactive objectivity by others e.g., Tommy Robinson; Stephen Yaxley-Lennon is an excellent journalist who provides the facts to the best of his ability. He's faced/faces multiple adverse bad faiths from the political parties: the police, politicians. The BBC, & mainstream media endorse & promote a policy of lies and hate against him; but it's becoming increasingly apparent that alias 'Tommy Robinson', only exists due to corruption: a complex conspiracy to defraud - decisions to deceive public perception & belief. The mainstream political parties use bad faith to dig the dirt against Stephen unjustly in any manner possible to attack him. ..the principles of natural justice is constantly being urinated on by political interference and unwritten agenda contrary to the common law of England & Wales..
Well done. I dont care if our politics align. Its about separation of powers and policy and transparency.
I'm in her Fractals book now. Everything about Metaphysics I've learned or heard of is in her book and it's Amazing. Someone here has one of her machines for rent and I'll finally get brave enough to try this. I tried a Skalar Room and it's quite lovely. You just get clearer and happier. I live here on Maui too. She's 100% about the fire. I don't know about a directed fire, but people talk about it. And yes, the body count is much, much higher. Read Fractals, Stacks is next for me.
