Roaming Around CDMX | Bacterial infection recovery vlog
Feel free to turn on captions if you can't hear me, the audio didn't come out as consistent :/
Spending my last days in Mexico City roaming around and gallery hopping. I took it easy because I was recovering from a bacterial infection that wiped me out for two plus weeks. My favorite part of this vlog was repairing my pants, so happy to see so many shops in cdmx that repair clothing! Enjoy :)

SO happy to be back in Mexico City. This video was a bit choppy but I'm slowly getting back into it! I visited Huerto Roma Verde, a lovely community space and experienced the solar eclipse here in cdmx. It wasn't a total eclipse but it was still fun to experience. I also visited a coffee shop! Every video will be a new shop :) Happy to be back and can't wait to post more! Hope everyone is well ...

I hope you are totally over your bacterial infection. Whenever I travel in Mexico I take ginger and activated charcoal with me, just in case. When you say in this video that you imagine someday living in Mexico, well, that is a thought I often have. I just got back from a 10 day trip to Mexico City and I got a feeling similar to one I have gotten when I travel to San Miguel de Allende, namely, that I have lost so much from leaving the country of my birth. Even though I probably would not have achieved the level of professional accomplishment I have achieved in the US (Yale PhD, published author, university professor, etc.), on the cultural and emotional side, I think there is so much I lost in leaving Mexico behind. I sometimes wonder how different I would be as a person if I had stayed in Mexico.

Thank you for the thoughtful message! I get what you mean about the feeling of loss when leaving a place that holds so much meaning. Frequent visits to Mexico definitely help keep me grounded and connected in that sense. Even though I was born in LA I’m going through something similar at the moment and it’s always a balance between appreciating where you’ve come from and where you’ve gone.

I really love your passion for Mexico and your suggestion that it is important to learn Spanish. I was born in Mexico but raised since I was 5 in the US. But lke you, part of my heart is in Mexico and it is so unfortunate that so many Mexican-Americans think of Mexico only in negative terms and would never consider even visiting. I also agree with you that it is important to stay in places where people speak only Spanish. Then you feel that you are really in Mexico. Your soul is Mexican, love you girl!
