A Cozy December ~ Christmas Decoration, Crafts, and Gifts
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, dear friends!💖 Oh, what a busy month that was! With full time work (I know i haven’t shared that with you, but I will soon), homeschooling, doctors appointments, meet ups, my mom’s trip back home, and demands here and there, we were exhausted and I hated it!😥
But despite of it all, I found solace in God’s Words. I had to cry it out to Him in prayers.🙏🏽
I also almost didn’t want to post this video because Christmas is over. But on a second thought, why not? I want to remember these sweet memories with my little family; slowing down and doing things with my girls actually recharge me. I live for these special moments I get to spend with them.
So here it is! I hope this video will inspire you to slow down and enjoy the simplest and most important things in life.✨ ~Merry

SALT DOUGH ADVENT SPIRAL
(recipe by Woodlark Blog)
Materials:
- 1c flour- 1/2c salt- 1 tbs cream of tartar- 1-2 tsp olive or avocado oil- 1/2-1c warm water
Steps:
1. Make your salt dough by mixing 1c flour + 1/2c salt + 1 tbs cream of tartar in a bowl. Add 1/2-1c boiling (or warm) water into the flour mixture and stir with a spoon until the dough is combined. Start with 1/2c and add additional water if needed. Make a well in the center of the dough and add 1-2 tsp olive or avocado oil. Knead until smooth.
2. Roll your dough out into a long roll, coil it around into a spiral and press down slightly to flatten. Use the base of one of your candles or anything to create the indents. (We used a brass candle holder with ours.)
3. You can either bake the spiral in your oven or let it air dry (allow several days). Bake in your oven on a top rack on the lowest setting (usually 170 degrees F) until completely dry. Check on it every 30 minutes. It should take a few hours, approximately 2-4 depending on the thickness of your spiral.

* Preheat oven to 200°F.
* In a large mixing bowl or stand mixer, whisk to combine flour and salt.
* Over medium low speed, gradually add water, reserving a few tablespoons. Mix until well combined and just moist. Add remaining water 1 tablespoon at a time, as needed.
* Using your hands on a lightly floured surface or mixer fitted with the dough hook attachment, knead until smooth. (The longer you knead, the smoother your dough and ornaments will be).
* Secure a sheet of parchment paper to working surface and roll dough ¼" thick for ornaments. (You can also roll on a surface lightly dusted with flour).
* Gently press cookie cutter into dough. Using a straw, press into dough shape to punch a hole to hang ornament.
* Transfer parchment to cookie sheet and bake in a preheated oven 20 minutes. Using a cookie spatula, gently flip ornaments and bake 10 more minutes or until dry. Allow to cool.
* Ornaments last 30+ years!

This was so sweet. Your little ones' voices are so adorable. I love the gingerbread crafts. So lovely. I think I will have to make those with my little ones even if the Christmas season is over. 🙏☺️
@@seasonsofwonder thank you so much!🥰 that gingerbread man craft was so easy and fun to do we were able to make a lot in no time. we used lollipops with better ingredients like manuka honey and with vitamin c since it’s cold and flu season in case they need some extra health benefits.❤️

Hello i was wondering since u do homeschool if i could ask sm? So im going into 8th grade and so sick of the toxic environment kids have to grow up in everyday i rlly want to homeschool but am scared that if i do ill loose all my friends and regret leaving
@@LexiZunker hi there. i’m so glad you reached out to me. this is so sad to know and actually the same thing happened to one of our friends recently. she’s also your age and wasn’t anymore motivated to go to school. what her mom did was to talk to the school’s guidance counsellor and she suggested to do blended or hybrid learning. i’m not sure where you are located, but here in canada if you do blended learning it means that the student will do a combination of in-person and online learning. so maybe this is what you can do so you can still continue to see your friends every week but your time at school will be less. check if this is an option in your area first and see it from there. let me know if you have other questions.❤️

This is heartwarming to watch! ❤ I was inspired to be more creative in how we spend the holidays now that the kids are older. Also, just want to mention, we have the same set of measuring cups and spoons. 😊
@@awholelifeofgrace awww thank you!💕 i feel like if we let the busyness of holidays take over, we won’t be able to really slow down and spend quality time with our loved ones. being intentional is important. to be honest, we had a really very exhausting december but moments like this recharge me so i had to make sure we prioritize our time together. i’m not anymore surprised that you have this set of measuring cups and spoons. i already lost count of how many things and preferences we have in common.🤭 i feel like you’re my sister from another mother. haha

We play music a lot in our home.🎶 Music has helped us improve our mood, make us fall asleep easier, and create a relaxing environment for us while studying, reading, or doing our chores. Do you also love listening to music? What type of music do you enjoy?

That’s why we are trying to do what we can, despite of the busyness of life, to be intentional with the girls-being present, making memories, preserving their childhood, enjoying being together doing things. we miss you guys and the old times when we were homeschooling together. We haven’t really found a group/family that we can do this with. 🙁

In all seriousness, I really want to learn how to forage mushrooms! So if you know a group in the Vancouver lower mainland, please let me know. Anyone who wants to come with me if ever?☺️✨ So for the meantime, these are the types of mushrooms I can get my hands on as the school that I am working at is inside the mall, so during my lunch break, I frolic in different shops 🥴, and I just don’t know why there’s an abundance of these whimsical goodies.🤑 To be fair, I didn’t get them in one go, maybe for several months. Which one is your favourite? Is there any specific thing that you can’t resist buying when you see it?

Kids love doing things together if it is interestingly wonderful, curious and joyful. For now, my 15-year-old girl is really into cooking, and her little brother prefers to do baking. I am glad my mother showed me many wonderful things one can do in the kitchen since I was little. Cooking together as a family brought such joy one cannot imagine how beautiful experiences can be.

I grew up in a big family and I saw my parents, aunties and uncles, …really everyone, did a lot of cooking and taking part in housework growing up. Lots of memories happened around doing ordinary things that made them really special.💖
