Escaping DEATH! Almost TRAPPED By The Tide In A Sea Cave!
In this epic coasteering adventure, we take on one of the most challenging and rewarding stretches of coastline in Cornwall. Starting from the rugged Trevaunance Cove in St Agnes, this was another leg in our ongoing mission to coasteer the entire coastline of Cornwall-and it turned out to be our most grueling adventure yet! With 8 hours of non-stop cliff jumping, sea cave exploring, and navigating the coastline, this journey tested our limits in the sport of coasteering.

The Journey Begins: Trevaunance Cove to Perranporth 🌊
Setting out from Trevaunance Cove-a classic spot for coasteering in Cornwall-we knew this stretch to Perranporth would be long and tough. Saint Agnes and its surrounding coastline are famous for their towering cliffs, intricate rock formations, and deep sea caves, making it a coasteering paradise. Along the way, we couldn’t resist the many incredible opportunities for cliff jumps. Early on, we discovered a massive 15-meter cliff jump from the top of a sea stack near Trevellas Cove, kicking off the day with an adrenaline rush.
Exploring "The Prison" at Hanover Cove 🏞️
One of the key highlights we were eagerly anticipating on this leg of the journey was a visit to an awe-inspiring feature known as The Prison. Located in Hanover Cove, this massive collapsed cave is a geological marvel, fed by several smaller caves that lead into a vast, open-air chamber. At high tide, there's no escape-hence its ominous name, “The Prison.” Hanover Cove itself is a tortured landscape where the forces of nature have gone wild, creating a surreal world of colossal caves and stunning rock formations. The cliffs here are streaked with vibrant orange and green zebra stripes, and scattered throughout are giant, emerald-like boulders-bright-green monoliths that look as though they belong in a fantasy realm. It’s a place where geology has truly run away with itself, making it one of the most unique spots we’ve encountered while coasteering in Cornwall.
The Sea Cave Incident: Our Near-Fatal Escape! 😲
As experienced coasteerers, we always plan carefully and check conditions, but even with flat seas and no swell, nature has a way of surprising you. After hours of coasteering, we reached a small, unnamed bay-now unofficially named "The Bay of 5 Caves"-where we discovered five massive sea caves that begged to be explored. As we entered the second cave, we had no idea just how dangerous it would become.
The cave was much longer than expected, and by the time we reached the far end, the tide had risen significantly. On the way out, we were shocked to find only a few centimeters of airspace left between us and the cave roof. It was a tense moment, as the cave’s exit wasn’t a simple straight line-navigating it underwater could have been fatal. This incident reminded us just how unpredictable coasteering can be, and it underscores the importance of knowing the tides and conditions when exploring Cornwall’s sea caves.
Completing the Journey: Droskyn Point to Perranporth 🌞
After the intense cave experience, we rounded Droskyn Point and were relieved to see the wide expanse of Perranporth Beach in the distance. With sore muscles and dwindling energy, we made our final push to reach Perranporth Cornwall, marking the end of our longest coasteering adventure ever. Perranporth Beach is known for its vast sands and great surf, making it one of the best places for both surfing and coasteering in Cornwall.
Why Coasteering Safely is Crucial 🛟
This adventure might have been thrilling, but it’s a perfect example of why coasteering should always be approached with caution. Even for experienced explorers, Cornwall’s coast can be unpredictable, and the risks are real. Whether you’re into rock climbing, kayaking, or cliff jumping, safety is paramount. If you’re interested in trying coasteering, especially if you’re near Newquay or anywhere in Cornwall, we highly recommend joining a guided coasteering trip with Kernow Coasteering. We offer safe and exhilarating tours that allow you to experience the very best coasteering spots in Cornwall, without the worry.

I love this dream
Almost died for 337 followers. Nice!
What am I going to have to do to get to 338!? 😂
That jump at the beginning was insane!
Yeah, certainly felt big enough 😂
Nice video. When you passed the rock, was that on low tide?
@@Eddie_-_ definitely low tide, I think even 15 minutes later that way would not have been possible.
@@kernowcoasteering thanks. So one need to plan that passage accordingly. We are heading there in a couple of weeks
@@Eddie_-_ Sure. But there is an inland way. Use the markers in the video description to find the inland road - it definitely exists. I'm also not sure where you'd get tide times for that area. Maybe tides4fishing.com.
You have money to arrange the trip but you should not best Idea to make your channel grow I have Idea but I don't have money every one have their own problems
Haha, true.
You have great content but your thumbnail is not good that is why you did not have views
@@Gulfwaleirfan thanks. Yeah, I know, but don't really know what to do instead. Any tips welcome!
In Arabic language sharq means east or from where the sun rises. That is why this area is called Al sharqia
Oh wow, that's very cool. Thanks for sharing.
Nicely shot video. Looks an awesome place. I'd like to trek the Hajar Mountains and go down into the wadis. Is it unrealistic to trek or must you have a car due to distances in between mountains? Plus getting water every day?
Thanks for watching. That's a cool idea and would be an awesome adventure. I'm afraid I don't know enough to advise on whether it's possible. But if you planned your water stops well, I guess it would work. Let me know how you get on!
hi thanks for this wonderful clip, how to contact Sammy?
I have no idea! Anytime a hire car rocks up in Mibam, one of the local kids will turn up and try and rinse money out of them! So don't worry - they'll find you!
If only they knew how mental the conditions were. Its only when it gets this big does coasteering become an extreme sport with all the fun and adrenaline rush that it entails. Well done on doing some top guiding. It days like this that we earn our pay.
Great to hear from someone who knows 😉
Beautiful Sultan Qaboos Mosque
It certainly is.
Oman is beautiful love it always and forever
I agree with you!

Thank you so much for sharing Oman most treasures! Amazing trail and views are breathtaking. I’m fear of heights BUT I really wanted to visit Balcony walk! Can I visit there only half way walk still can enjoy the brilliant scenery? (Ps since I walk through Misfah Al Abriyeen “🙏
Straight away, you get awesome views into the canyon and you can turn back any time. I would expect that as soon as you get on the path you'll feel it's not that bad and be happy to continue. There's no point where it suddenly gets worse or more 'dangerous'.
That’s so encouraging!🙏🍀 Hope we take an action there after summer!
Misfah Al Abriyeen is one of must & plus spots in Oman. We enjoyed visiting the amazing ruins/village! Only wow! Don’t miss it❤
Thanks for watching. Wadi Mibam remains the most beautiful place we visited though 😊

Nice video and trip. I've never been to that sea stack. Are you ofter in the Faroe Islands?

Nothing in this water is capable of killing, it is a hundred clean water 💯 and even the snakes there do not approach humans and not poisonous😊

Definitely! 🇴🇲
Cant wait to go there, can it be accessed by a smaller car rather than a 4x4 or do you actually need a 4x4?
Good question. We went from Wadi Damm. From that direction the road starts bad and then comes good. I think from other directions you'd be ok, a lot of it is paved (but not all). Maybe try and zoom in on Google maps and see if you can stick mostly to paved roads. In general though, my advice would be rent a 4x4, if you can. It'll open up so many more options for you. Enjoy!
Beautiful trip
Thank you. It certainly was! Looking forward to the next one.

fantastic way to spend a day

Hello from Oman 🇴🇲
Thank you, until we return! 🙏
Nice trip. What is the easiest wadi to reach with the car directly without walking or climbing?
Thanks for watching! If you don't mind a pretty adventurous drive (4x4 needed), then you can park 30m away from the start of Wadi Al Arbeieen. It's also a beautiful, adventurous wadi, not far from Muscat. Check it out in part two of my Oman videos.

Epic shots! Did you have any trouble with bringing the drone into the country? Because I have read they are supposedly ilegal? I am just wondering if I should bring my mavic mini along.
It's not without risk. My heart sank when I arrived and saw that they scan all baggage, hand baggage too. I honestly don't know how they didn't notice it. So it really is at your own risk. In hindsight, I wish I'd flown it more, but only did at remote locations when no one else was there. Good luck!
Thanks. Great to have some first hand info.
