As a Bouremouthian it took me back 70 years. Still got a cousin near Castle Lane. The local bus service was superb when we visited in 2014.

Thanks Sam, just found this on YT. I've lived in Australia since 1961 (just south of Sydney NSW), but grew up in Pelton Fell/Chester le Street. It was a treat to ride the bus back from Newcastle to Chester High Street. Couldn't spy Birtley baths tho!

I’ve done this trip, but in the reverse direction. Could this route possibly have been introduced to replace the rail service from Halifax to Bradford Exchange via Queensbury? Closed in 1955, so nothing to do with Beeching.

Just spotted my road :D I am local to Sutton. The Buses rarely says "Carshalton Rd/Cambridge Rd" since the road's name changed to "Oxford Road"
