Absolute Genius
Sunny was his idol the neighborhood bad ass
I definitely liked Rosie’s voice over Bonnie’s. Not that Bonnie couldn’t sing, but just preferred Rosie as I felt Bonnie was a bit of a screamer too much for me.
Nice !
Thanks Scott to checking it out and you comment.
Prince was no drug addict 🙏🏾🥀💜🕊️🕊️
I can say he was a great musician. Rest in Paradise.
I❤ the beautiful words of memories that Shelby speaks about Prince 👏🏾❤no truer words spoken 🙏🏾
Never tire of Prince stories
Always great to hear Prince tales. Thanks for the comment and view.
Dez you and "Tito Jackson" look like you could be related. You fit right in with Prince's band, Keep Shining Bright!!💎🌈💥👁️👁️🎇🌹💕💖
Thanks for the watch and comment Dycie.
His Purple Rain Era put a certain magic into my youth that nothing else did in his songs. They all are great. But when I i listen to Purple Rain I'm 17 again. I feel it.
That's powerful SpaceMel. Special times for sure.
Wow! In A World Of Artificial Intelligence, It's Nice To Hear Gifted Musicians Talk Shop! The Musician, The Last Of Their Kind. Hip Hop Thuglife Culture Is The Worst Thing That Ever Happened. When It Was Just Fun Music,Cool. But When It Became A "Culture", All Cultural Hell Broke Loose. Especially For American Black Kids. When They Took Instruments Out Of The Schools,It Was Ovee For The Creation Of "The Black Musician"
I love when Ronnie Baker Brooks described Prince and The Time as being brothers. Beautiful. Another great interview by Joe Kelly.
Thanks ManRay for the very kind words. You're right. The MPLS crew may have had the occasional beef but there is just love for each other in the end.
@@musiciansreveal In the book “Funk” by Ricky Vincent, there’s a quote by Bootsy about PFunk. He said that they might fuss and fight but at the end of the day they were all family.
So true. With the PFunkers I've known over the years, the music together still overroad the internal conflicts.
Praying ill get to go see ronnie in berwyn. Ive been scraping money together as soon as i heard about the new album.
Jeremy, thanks to watch the interview. Hope you make it over to Fitzgerald's . Sounds like a cool joint to see a concert.
I am so glad to see Mr. Duhe doing well. Love his music ❤❤.
Thanks Martha to check out the interview and of course, the nice words for Robin Duhe.
Love this story and the song, it hits my heart every time!🫡
Thanks for the kind words. I feel the same about the song.
What’s an SSL?
Thanks to check out the video. I had to google it too. SSL is a recording console made from Solid State Logic.
The goat ❤❤❤
Thanks to watch the video. I agree with you as well.
Brothers Prince didn't t fail he believes in Jehovah
More musicians should appreciate and love their craft and take pride in their skill like this genius did Rest Well Eternally *Prince Rodgers Nelson, Ty For All Of Ur Awesome and Amazing Beautiful 🎶🎵🎤👁️👁️🎇💗💗💗
Thanks DycieFunches for the kind words. Perfectly stated about Prince.
@@musiciansreveal Ur welcome, Peace Love Joy and Many Bountiful Harvest Of Tremendous Manifested Beautiful Blessings Always!!💖
Right back atcha.
ALWAYS GOOD TO SEE CHRIS JASPER , I HAVE ALL OF THE OLD ISLEY BROTHER ALBUMS , HE IS BEYOND BRILLIANT !!!!!
Appreciate the view and comment. You have great taste in music. Keep those Isley Brothers LPs.
live in new orleans with maze you were at your finest
Thanks Deeds9 for the comment. Maze will always be an influential band.
I peeped an old school Shure Vocalmaster P.A. mixer in one of the photos. Folks used those way back in the day in the 60's and 70's. That picture had to be taken years before he became famous and he was probably still in high school. God Bless his soul..🙏🏾🎼🙏🏾
Thanks for the insight and good spot seeing that in the photo. Definitely in his late teens and in the early days of Prince working in a recording studio.
I hope to see Ronnie and the band in South Bend,IN again! if not we are 1h and 15 from Chi-town
Thanks to watch the interview. Hope you see Ronnie Baker Brooks on this tour. Great performer.
@Chicago Bluesman 🎶 Very good and insightful interview with Joe Kelley!
Thanks Michael for the kind words. Ronnie makes the interview easy for me to do. Great guy.
This is Prince
Thanks for the comment.
My mife and I are big Prince fans. Collected ALL of his albums down thru the years and attended many of his concerts. During one of his hosted after parties my wife approached him and chatted for a few minutes. Now I have always been one to give famous celebrities their space. They yearn for that sometimes. So I was content to let her talk with him and fill me in afterward. However she gestured towards me to come meet him. Due to a huge security guard giving me the evil eye, I hesitated, looked directly at Prince in his eyes, shook my head no, and pointed towards that menacing security guard. So Prince, having acknowledged that gestured for me to walk all the way to a far side of the ballroom to meet them. When I got there, he and my wife met me there and we had a nice casual conversation between the 3 of us for about 10 minutes. I respectfully asked to meet some of his band members including Larry Graham. He told us to stay there and not move. He walked away a few steps and- again- told us not to move. Within a few minutes he walks back with Larry Graham, his wife, his daughter, Rosey Gains, and several other members of New Power Generation. We all talked for about 15 minutes. He was so respectful and accomodating. Never did we fawn over him but treated him with respect as we would anyone else. We sensed that he truly appreciated it.
The G.O.A.T, Uncle Rob! 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🪕
Thanks for the comment and love for Robin Duhe.
He was a multi instrument talented musician. Self taught. Very creative and very intelligent I'm sure. Very true to himself. No surprise he creatively found ways to not be copied. 🌟🌟🌟
Thanks for the comment. A true trailblazer in music. Prince is dearly missed.
Prince is so genuine. I got a 1 in a million chance to chat with him for about an hour. He was so down the earth. It happened in Atlanta during the NPGMUSICCLUB days at a sound check. He didn't have to chat with me but he did. I will never forget that day.
Hold on to those moments with Prince. The days of the NPG Music Club were special.
Je t’aime forever …
Merci for the comment. Leon and Marvin were two great artists.
Controversy, 1999, Dirty Mind, Little Red Corvette, Darling Nikki, Purple Rain, Raspberry Beret, When Doves Cry, Let's go Crazy, Kiss, Girls and Boys, Mountains, I could never take the place..etc. etc. They all played a part in my youth but a few months after his death I heard a song of his that he recorded in the last years of his life when I had long since stopped listening to him and it broke me. After the Batdance album, I gave up on Prince, and then after his death, I started listening to his more recent recordings that I had missed almost 3 decades' worth of music. The song played from a recording I got from an old friend of mine. He transferred a recording of it onto a USB stick for me, and I was playing it as I drove to work. I felt like Prince was with me when I heard it. I felt his song touch my soul, and it seemed to say it's ok. I'm home, and you will be too in time, don't worry! The song? It was "Way Back Home." To this day, I still tear up with both sadness and joy. I want it played at my funeral as I believe he wrote it with foreknowledge of his death. It's almost an acceptance and realisation of his own mortality and connection to everything. He wrote it for himself and for us all. It is both his story and our story. It's beautiful. RIP Prince and I'll see you on the other side ❤
Thanks for the real heart talk and view. "Way Back Home" is a powerful song. I'm sure Prince was deeply affected recording this song too. I thought very similar things as you on this one.
Prince was one of a kind.
There'll never be another. Thanks for the comment.
He was a humbly unique person
No doubt. This was a side not too many saw of Prince.
Is this why i can't figure out the layers of Computer Blue? lol
Thanks for the comment. At least you are trying to figure it out. I would be lost 3 seconds into the song,
My Uncle turned me on to Maze 50 yrs ago. I grew up listening to them constantly. Not only his smooth silky voice but the bass player. One quick quick response besides live in New Orleans how did you tune the four on Time Is On My Side
Thanks Anthony for the comment and words for Frankie Beverly. I'm sure Robin Duhe appreciate this too.
Umm...Didn't Chaka Khan cover "I Feel For You ?" and with his blessing ?
Thanks Soundcheck. I saw Prince, Chaka Khan and Larry Graham at MSG on the NewPowerSoul tour.
He was a multi instrumentalist a one man band and his type of caliber was rare. He among the Minneapolis Genius 1977 album Artist set for a reason further reference alone the For You 1978 liner 🎶 🎵 notes Including the Vocals, Guitar 🎸 effects,Synthesizers in place of horns pianos and Keyboards ,Drums. All that can be ▶️ played by a larger group act that would take alot of managing logistics.
Thanks Loran. Prince was always a few steps ahead and determined to make music his life.
She's the one who said Prince Ike Turnered her.🤔
Encore to the great black prince🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤❤
I saw him hang out at glam slam West many times, and if you saw him walk casually, his posture was impeccable. He looked taller than he was, and he walked with a purpose. There was a purpose almost every move. Even when he was relaxing one of the restaurant tables with a friend. Around 1986 and 1987 as a teen I was trying to figure out what he was about, and I realized and discovered qualities of what made him not only interesting but great was his pursuit of individuality. And later on I realize that in order to achieve that individualism you need a very strong dose of confidence. A self-love or self caring for self-esteem, loving, and wanting the best for yourself and carrying yourself with a sense of purpose and physically manifesting that with the way you walk the way you stand. In the song ‘walk, don’t walk’ he lays it all out for you and I thought yes that’s it !
Great post Modernaire. No one can replicate Prince's confidence and Individuality.
I’ve seen some of Bryan’s progression thru his website. He has become a true Prince friend. And I respect him for opening to this journey
Thanks Patrick. Bryan is a cool guy and happy that he really got into Prince and explained a lot of Prince's guitar genius.
I thought that was Bootsie baba
Bootsy is superbad too. Thanks for the comment.
Glad to hear Robin is still alive and well . Got to get his music!!!!
Thanks for the kind words for Robin, SweetEmpress7.
