What is this particular model? Cannot quite read the name.
Hello Hayden, this tug belongs to a fellow member of the Heron Model Boat Club in Herne Bay. It was built for him and he named it Helen R after his wife. I am not sure what real tug it was based on.
@@jonathanwheeler5626 thank you. I am casting around for a model to build from a kit and just searching out suppliers like MMM, Model Slipway and Orion Mouldings etc. Would be one for the Cory tugs, something ending in a ….garth. Few to choose from but tough to make a choice.
We have a few of those in the club, there is a short clip of Westgarth on here about 5 months ago. Unfortunately I don’t have any details of the build though. Good luck with your project.
Very nice example of the SunXX1 there
Thank you for your kind comment
@@jonathanwheeler5626 is the sailing lake at Memorial Park ?
Wo gibt's diese wunderschönen parks.mit seen .Leider läßt die Stadt Gütersloh ihren stadpark wo Jahrzehnte Modelle gefahren sind total verkommen. 😢
Hi, this lake is in the Memorial Park in Herne Bay in the UK
Thank you for sharing a good video with a nice boat!💯👍👍💯👍👍
Thank you for your comment
The yacht is an inchcape 45 build in wood in the early 60s.That is the yacht on which the model is based
Thank you for that information, I have often wondered if the boat was based on a prototype.
You could water ski behind that.
Probably if you were a Barbie or Ken doll.
I gather this is a harbour tug. Let's see it maneuvering a RC Tanker into dock
Ouch lol
Yep, just poor driving skills, fortunately the damage was not as bad as it looked.
Sorry about all the questions but this was a fibreglass hull in 1980's and always fancied this boat Looks stunning.
Is this a Fisher? Does it have a keel?
Hi, I am sorry but I don’t know if it is a Fisher. It does have a very small keel. I hope this helps
No problem, however this is an ABS hull so possibly not the boat that you remember.
That baby is beautiful! Did you build it yourself? What is the length? Can it handle heavy winds?
Thank you for your comment. I am afraid that I didn’t build her myself but I have made numerous changes. Including bowsprit she is about three feet long. She is pretty good in higher winds but I have to reduce sail as the wind increases
Vessels under sail have always been crowd pleasers. Nice video, too short but good. I have a 36” all wood construction cabin cruiser. Beautiful model. Turns heads everywhere she goes. I have nowhere close that would be large enough for a sail boat. But I do have a creek/brook in a park, five minutes away on foot. And the cruiser looks great on it. Just under a pedestrian bridge. The passers by get a Birds Eye view of the boat. Ah, a local pond would be great!
Thank you for your comment. Sailing boats on this pond usually get very positive comments from passers by and dog walkers. This pond is a half hour drive for me but well worth it to sail rc boats with a very friendly bunch of like minded people
Looks to handle well. What is it that makes sailing vessels so attractive?
I am not sure but it got a lot of nice comments from people walking by
Good to see you got it up and running Jon
Thanks Eric
Too weak :p You need a 4s battery, lol
I can’t control it on 3s. I have already destroyed one bodyshell 😂
Nice boats. How have you made the winches of the foresails sheet?
Hell Timo, with Patrice I have tried several different systems. Currently all 3 sails are controlled from one sail winch. On Bergen I believe that the foresails are controlled using a continuous line below deck. Patrice is having an extra foresail fitted that will probably be controlled from a separate servo. I am still testing at the moment.
@@jonathanwheeler5626 I'm in the process of making a new sheet winch on main and on the mizzen. I would have attached a picture, but it doesn't seem to work on this youtube. It has a reel release so the boom can turn freely. How many boats y have done? Nice hobby, And how have you done the hulls.
Hi Timo, Bergen is plank on frame and Patrice is a one piece moulded hull
Love the little crew figures!
Thank you for your comment. The crew on both boats are from a company called Mountfleet
Lovely!
Thank you for your comment
I've got an r/c battleship, but this is much more peaceful.
It is very relaxing
What beautiful boats! Great job!!
Thank you for comment
Cool! Is it a vintage or a re release? What is your combo?
Hi Eric, It is a re release, a couple of years old now. I recently rebuilt the entire rear end. The motor and esc are a cheap Amazon brushless setup running on 3s
Is it run with motor? Or by wind?
Hello David, there is an onboard motor that can be used when there is no wind or to head upwind but I only use it on rare occasions. The boat is one hundred percent powered by sail in this clip.
Nice. Evening viewers. Turn the volume down.🇦🇺👍🍺
Many thanks for your comment
Both are beautiful boats hats off to the builders.
What a beautiful boat well done sir.
Thank you for your comment
Excellent modelling,
Many thanks!
Beauriful 👍🏻
Thanks a lot 😊
Thank you for your comment. The only damage to the speed boat was that it needed a new propeller, unfortunately there was a fair bit of cosmetic damage to the trawler.
Unfortunate moment but indeed your vision was blocked. I hope there wasn't too much damage
Nice. 🇦🇺👍🍺
Thank you for your kind comment
That is the coolest RC classic gaff ketch model!! Greetings from Salem Massachusetts
Many thanks for your comment, I am glad you liked the video.
where can. buy one?
Hi Luke, I am sorry but I bought her second hand so I don’t know where she was originally purchased from.
Lovely vid thanks, can you tell us what onboard camera you use?
Thank you for your comment. The camera is nothing more sophisticated than an old mobile phone. Glad you liked the video.

Thank you for your comment, unfortunately I bought Patrice pretty much as she is now so I do not know of any plans for her. Sorry.
gorgeous ! nice lake too ! ( We have not sailed since before Covid !)
Thank you for your comment. The lake is in Herne Bay if you are ever in the area.
They both look fine. The Patrice, are plans available and from whom please?
Love me some donuts!
Gotta love a donut or two
Great run! looked quick out there
Thanks for your comment. It is pretty quick. I think it needs some new tyres
Nice run. With it being gold, my first thought was, it looks like that old Zimmer golden sprit car.
Hi Joe, thanks for your comment but I don’t know what that is, is it a good thing or a bad thing?
It's a good thing. it's a classic car .Look it up when you have a moment @@jonathanwheeler5626
I will, thanks for that
Looks nice. What is it?
I honestly don’t know. I was gifted the hull and put an old torque tuned motor and an old esc and receiver in it and this was its first run. Had a bit of fun with it and it didn’t leak or sink.
great model and video . I saw a boat like that at WoodenBoat some years ago
Thank you for your comment, I am glad you liked it.
The Mad Max of Holiday Buggy . Nice!
Hi, it is a cheap Amazon combo. 3300kv. I think it is a DollaTek
What motor do you have in it?
Nice...👍 I lived in north Kent for 50 years and didn't realise that lake was there..! Just an observation, open the gap between the back of the jib boom and main mast to around 35mm when close hauled to get better air flow between the jib and main. I used to sail at the Barton Point lake on the Isle of Sheppy all year round, there is a nice cafe there where you can eat a baguette on their veranda while sailing the yacht, plus at the boat club at the Chatham Dockyard basin on a Sunday morning...🙂 All the best with your sailing...👍
Hello David, thank you for your comment. The water in Herne Bay is a bit shallow so I have to sail with short keel, but the water is fresh not salt. I will try and let the job out a bit thank you for the advice.
@@jonathanwheeler5626 My 65 cm yacht is an 8 year old Affinity which is a copy of the DF65. It has a full length keel so probably wouldn't have sailed there then sadly. I sail on lochs in Scotland now with my Affinity and a Kantun IOM, that definitely wouldn't sail on your nice lake...😊 Looking at your other videos, I ran an original Tamiya Rough Rider for years against 3 mate's and their Sand Scorchers...👍
Hello David, sailing on a loch in Scotland sounds amazing , but a bit chilly at the moment. I have not tried the Rough Rider but from what I have seen on TH-cam they look like a lot of fun. Enjoy your sailing and thanks for your advice.
👍👍👍
ouch, that should hurt because its january now and you need to wait another 11 months to get other 😅
Replacement parts are on order 🙂
@@jonathanwheeler5626 good! i hope you get the pieces
First day I installed metal Arms and shock towers I hit a parked car and snapped my chasis! Luckily that's all that broke and i can get a new one
@@antisolcial mine have been on for a while now, but I do think that they expose weaknesses in other parts of the car.
Very cool rally car
Thankyou for your comment, I hope to make some improvements in the future.
