From the lost lute book of Joachim von Loss. The Silesian and Polish influence on the musical life of Leipzig in the 16-18th centuries cannot be overstated. This particular dance piece is found in several other collections but no version is so well written and technically demanding as the one presented here. Joachim von Loss must have had very good contacts with professional lutenists since man...

Beautiful piece. The performance captures the mood of the time period like being transported back in time.
What sonata is this from?
The last suonata in g minor in Dresden. (SWV 51)
Thank you for your reply. You sound very good. Weiss is my favorite lute composer and you reflect his dexterity and virtuosity very well in your interpretation of the piece.

Ye kör style!
Dear Magnus, very beautiful interpretation. This Ciacona in D is also played by only one lutenist from all - Terrel Stone on his CD "Sei Parthie Di Varsavia" Nice piece. Thank you very much for sharing.
Thank you, Rodrigo!! I also think Jaroslaw Lipski recorded it recently. Nevertheless a seldomly played piece!
This gorgeous Ciacona in D is also played by Alberto Crugnola in his video filmed at the Chiesa S. Veronica in Calde. It can be found on his You Tube channel in his "Weiss" Series.
Great thats a hard one
Thanks! Yes technically speaking , very few galliards by Dowland are easy..
Fantastic, genuine playing of a baroque style..👏

Wonderful, my friend!
Thank you so much, dear Ariel!
Tell us about your lute!
It’s a multi-rib 11 course lute after Rauwolf, made by Lars Jönsson. This model shows how German makers started to use Venetian, broader instruments as opposed to the traditional French/Bolognese more elongated shaped ones. The result often gives a more singing, cantabile character to the lute instead of the more speaking character of the French. Thus this kind of model is ideal for Reusner, Losy, early Weiss and all the other composers in Germany/Austria who composed for 11 courses. Even the later David Kellner and Conradi sound excellent on this lute.
Very nicely done! Great tempo, played with real elan, and ornaments that truly decorate the music without any hint of stopping it.
what a beautiful version of n13
Yes I love how Francesco‘s pieces are almost a genre of their own. It’s amazing to follow them morphing into a elusive myth of authentic authoritarian works
I am learning this piece right now!
Is that the complete works you are playing from?
Yes, it’s from Volume 9.1. The piece belongs to suonata 62, which is found in the F-Pn61 ms.
Beautifully played!!!
Thank you!!
Man, this sounds beautiful.
