Yes , good old multiculturalism and diversity,, ruined Elizabeth ,, and ruined Australia, ,,,there is only so much water you can add to a good quality glass of Scotch Whiskey,, and that is Australia now 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺

Such beautiful homes, now most are getting knocked down and replaced with 2 or 3 matchbox homes, all grey and squeezed in one block of land, with little to no backyards. The modern progress left for the future generations, Sad.

The irony is that the west lakes area was once a literal dump and now look at it, through private developers they were able to transform the location to what it is today, whereas due to the Government managing Elizabeth and Salisbury North (formerly where single mothers from neighbouring areas were sent to raise their children) you can see how it soon dropped and it became what it is today. It is so sad to see that all the corruption is what caused the decay. There were no knife wielding teens in shopping malls back in those days, because they had socialisation. It wasn’t in front of a screen. They spent time with their family and friends and they went to church. Nowadays Australia and the rest of the western world is too busy focusing on diversity and immigration to help out the actual citizens that have grown up here. How is it that a taxi driver and an office worker back in the 1960’s could live like Royalty (I’m referring to that other video uploaded with vintage Adelaide footage) and yet nowadays everyone is struggling? The Government can blow millions on stupid votes for things that no one wants to vote for in the first place so of course they vote no so they don’t have to keep saying it and pay for politicians that are abusive and a waste of taxpayers money and yet when it comes to actually paying the people that need it there’s nothing

I arrived in Adelaide & we bought a house in Clovercrest, so similar set up to Elizabeth. I thought I'd landed on Mars! There were no trees or bushes, it was very barren, just a lot of red earth. Our house was a sweat box in summer, we had no air-conditioning, it was so unbearable that we often went & slept outside. That was 59 year's ago & I'm sure it's all changed, but I wouldn't want to go back to 1965. It wasn't a good time for me.....

I have to say, for the most part people knew how to furnish houses then. Now it's all plastic and aluminium from China. Cheap and nasty. I now live in Queensland where you simply cant get good wooden furniture at all. If you see any for sale, it's in the Southern States.

Where did it all go wrong? I lived in Elizabeth from 1957 through to 1960 . I was in Grade 4, and we lived in Elizabeth Grove, started school in "the South" with Mr Brodie. and moved to Elizabeth Grove Primary under Mrs. Fatchen (wife of the famous Max). We had an Ampol servo over the road, a shopping centre with newsagency, a chippie, Mrs .Dents cafe, Sven Kalins furniture and electrical, doctors, dentists, tennis courts and a scout hut. Marvelous, and all gone now, the place is a ghost town. We walked to school, teased the Catholic kids and their Father priest. Rev Howel Witt was our man, and he became a Bishop of NW Australia. It's industry has gone, no Holdens, Chrysler, Pinnocks, very few have survived the 60 years. So sad.

We lived there for a year in 1989, in Elizabeth Vale. Holden was still active and most of Elizabeth was still quite nice. I would have been happy to stay longer. The shopping centres and communities activities were still a bit like your description, but on the way down. There were dangerous and run down parts, but these stood out as the exception. When I return to Elizabeth now, the dangerous and run down parts are more common the rest. There are still some nice areas of housing, and parks. But, I'd definitely stay away from some. It's not as bad as people say.

Those were good days. Hard work wasn't a crime. Give an abo a bottle of *McScruttocks 75% proof Isle of Gruinard Whisky type liquid* + 20 Winfield and he'd work on your land all day! Give his missus something cheap and shiny and she would wait *hand and foot* on Marlene, cook the supper and walk the kids back from school: whilst you drove the old Holden station wagon to Dan's Bar and drank Swan Lager till the sun went down!
