Each student was assigned a sheet of cardboard and a length of duct tape in order to span 10' over the swimming pool. Teams would receive grades based upon the percentage of their team able to successfully cross the structure. Special thanks to Toronto Metropolitan University's Athletics and Recreation Department, the lifeguards and staff, and the Department of Architectural Science!

Where is this year’s upload?? It should be streamed elsewhere anyway rather than being so exclusive by signing up for zoom, something that didn’t even work when I tried to this year and had to get the code from someone already there.

The presentation is good but my concern is not all people cannot live in that dwelling, not all people has a capacity to move and to be fit like others even a young people, its a great idea but not rationale in a since that before you leave your house your already tired

no offense but these critics literally made me lose atleast 10 braincells due to the repetitive and very confusion questions.... I dont get what that lady was confused about..... The elevation of the ramps were shown clearly all across the drawings and sections... ALTHOUGH, the renderings and some drawings could have used some love to show the circulation idea better and the usage of the shared space. But again, these critics were asking 90% repetitive questions and very confusing when things were actually cleared. ESPECIALLY that old lady, I mean my god...... how hard is it to understand that path that she kept asking about....? barf!

"a PLACE is where the mind touches the world " (p.32 Analyzing Architecture by Simon Unwin ) architecture, however complex and subtle it may be in its more sophisticated forms, can begin with something as simple as sitting on a sand-dune looking out to sea. By doing so you establish a place. Even after you have moved on, the impression of your body persists in identifying the place as a seat, the place where you sat

Hi, great thesis! I enjoyed the presentation and the design. I like the articulation of the facade very much and I've always loved the exploration of semi-public spaces overlooking the street, at podium level or otherwise. The latter is almost the quintessential modernist project - contrary to Jane Jacobs and the neighbourhood street, the podium is a real opportunity for neighbourly interaction and dialogue. I've a question for Bianca and/or the panel (if you ever get to return to and read this!). The subject of accessibility and movement broaches another means of both, but that is actually the antithesis - or the hyper-modern version - of bodily movement, and that is the car .... no cars are shown in any of the design proposal images here. Presumably this is a busy urban block and I'm not sure if car parking is afforded anywhere, for visitors, residents or shoppers; not at basement level, street level nor for accessing the commercial elements. I know the car is almost the nemesis of bodily movement - many a healthy body and mind have slipped back on the advent of acquiring a new car - but it is also the subject against which much of the ideals of this project should be pitted. It also opens an interesting discussion of Jacobs vs. Corbusier, ie. the lazy neighbourhood street vs. the roof garden open to light, health and greenery, showing that in the latter case the car and the modern project can also, in an ironic sense, very much facilitate a project of this kind.
