There I say it those western media articles deliberately cherrypicked few lines from a long ass post from Fengji as their title, ie. "Came all the way here for freaking nothing", "wrote the acceptance speech 2 years ago", to attract eyeballs. And of course many folks don't have an attention span more than 5 seconds and didn't bother reading the whole thing, taking that the main idea of the post being a rant and Fengji is a sore loser. While on the contrary he, while being a bit upset, is being self-mockery and showing gratitude to the fans. Chinese to English translation, no, basically any translation, can lose some nuances especially in tone and cultural difference in expressions. A post that is overwhelmingly received in China as Fengji being humble and having a big heart through translation getting depicted as a sore loser is just kinda pathetic...

I'm on xbox with this game and you see this still My boy and I were in a practice lobby kinda waiting for others to fight .. someone joins and he fights the guy and he can't hit any input and i talked a bunch of smack and they disconnected entirely with a weird disconnect message I've never seen and no one was gone from the room... I then fight him and can't hit a single thing either.. it was even set to 4 connection or better only.. We join back together and yet again it's normal for us both

why is Astro bot game of the year when you can't even play it if you don't own a PS 5 ?

Astro bot is a a PlayStation exclusive. Xbox and PC cannot play this game. It’s really just a Ad. That doesn’t make sense for a single console exclusive to win the title Game Of The Year. It’s a PlayStation version of Mario Galaxy. Wukong is accessible to PS5 and PC. Not an exclusive. (Xbox cannot run Wukong due to how the Xbox uses its 16 gigabyte ram). So there’s no argument to make about Wukong being one sided. But there is to Astro Bot Wukong brought an entire new feel to the dark souls genre. It’s not bullshit to put it frank. The dark souls genre to me is slow, the combat is slow and just a sudden explosion of your character taking damage. Wukong skill checks you through your play-through. Being much more forgiving then Elden Ring, rewarding good reaction time and learning how to play the game. it’s a decent argument of it being not beginner friendly. But the entire premise of BlackMyth Wukong isn’t supposed to be easy. On Wukong I have a 4th play through character, level 300+ with like 100~ hours Compared to my 300+ hours on Elden ring with a nearly maxed out character. On a third play through and that just feels like hell and not fun. But I digress I don’t think Astro Bot should’ve won for the simple fact that it’s Mario Galaxy for PlayStation, an exclusive and really just is a game for kids or casual gamers with a broad audience I know you spoke of “oh video games are for kids and it’s not supposed to be hard” That’s a very fair point but the detail Wukong has compared to Astro bot? I don’t see it. I still don’t accept that Astro bot is a GOTY game

Astrobot its a fun game sure, appeal to every type of audience yes, but its simply just a Tech Demo aka an Ad, at best as it could be i dont think it should beat the likes of Wukong, Metaphor or Rebirth imo..

Oh thank you someone else is talking about this. I am so sick of ranked because I cant filter by some kind of pc benchmark. I get so heated when some doofus is playing like he's hot shit, but the entire time i've basically got weighted gear on. Dude's hitting me with the irl time skip and it's maddening. I had a buddy turn his settings down, and once he did, I stopped lagging. Actually bull.

So glad someone is talking about this. Too many people ignore this issue and treat it like it doesn't exist. I stopped playing mainly because of this. I will not play this game until this issue is fixed

Annnnnd, this is why I'll never switch to pc until its necessary. Paying all this money to play a few games only for it to not matter cause someone either has a shit build and the processing power gets nerfed to theirs, or you cant even play a game on launch cause devs can't optimize their games for pc demands. The only people to blame for this are the PC master race goofballs. They scream this shit so much, "pc is better than console, I would never touch a console again, etc," only to not be able to play a game on launch because pcs suck to optimize.

Wukong is a good game with amazing bosses and awful in-between section, with god awful level design. Astro Bot is a masterpiece, the debate is this simple. If there is a game than can be mad about not winning is Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth, not even getting a nomination for goty and not winning best writing is typical The Game Awards disgracefulness

I have a 4090, I also adjusted my graphics setting to guarantee no noticeable dips in fps on my end and turning things off that do nothing or make quality worse. I get that shit every god damn game

yeah, input delay is a top issue for online play for me in this game. the melee rush clash that has you time a click within the circle is basically impossible to do normally, because i'll click well outside of the bubble and it'll just completely void my input and make me fail the clash to no fault of my own.

Wild sense is the easiest thing to avoid I wouldn’t even call it string you just gotta pay attention to when people activate it cuz it can sneak up on you even mid combo depending on the situation

People should know that GOTY is decided not only in point of view of gaming(gamers), but as well as development(game developers). At the core, black myth wukong is a really straight forward classic RPG, though the exectuion of the said is phenominal, on the other hand, astro bot is one of those games that are reigniting a particular genre that was almost dead for years, and appeals to a much larger audience and level of detailing and game design is just showing the love developers put in it. I can guruantee people criticising astro bot for winning have never tried playing it or put down controller after first few minutes. Let this GOTY be an example among people to try out new games and wider their horizon, and great new start for game dev community.

As Z rank who uses wild sense, you're right. I don’t think it should be patched. Wild sense can be dodged. It is not like how afterimages strike was.

Wukong felt so unfinished, especially the last third of the game. Still a good game but not worthy of GOTY imo.

Great video, it’s kinda sad to see how people don’t think about the reasons why a game they never played won. Instead they’re quick to say that the show is rigged. Emotions instead of logic and reason talking.

Biggest weakness for wild sense is that you can’t block anything because every attack besides Ki blast that hits you while it’s popped will activate it. Moves like super explosive wave or any decent long range supers will trigger wild sense as well.

The GOTY is the game you enjoyed the most during the year. Who cares which game wins? Just have fun!! And you do made some valid points. I didnt even know about the award.

It is not that black myth wukong is bad or anything , but it only appeals to a set number of audience while astro bot appeals to a wider margin of audience.More young people like children would much rather prefer to play games like astro bot .while black myth wukong (not bad in any means ) doesn't appeal to young and has a more mature theme and that's why I feel like astro bot won game of the year and the impact of astro bot as huge it was playstation's 30 years of work in a single game.
