The Cantina Club
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 10 พ.ค. 2018
The original Memphis area Star Wars fan club founded in 1978 by Gundark, Corellian Traitor and Greedo to celebrate all things STAR WARS. Our clubhouse was in the space under the stairs and behind the piano. We published a news letter - the Tatooine Times where we reviewd movies and discussed SW and Lucasfilm projects. Today the trio do the same things, but right here on TH-cam via the Cantina Club podcast. We'd be honored if you would join us!

The Cantina Club 78 2024 Preview - Upcoming Star Wars Content on Disney
Disney better hand the rights to this man
I really didn't enjoy Ep 1, but it got much better with Ep 2. Since then, it's been okay...watchable, but nowhere near great.
I could listen to Sam talk Star Wars all day. Always love hearing his takes on George and Star Wars.
Nice!!
George is certainly a pioneer... i just dont understand why he handed it over to disney with out some kind of built in quality control....
I get what he's saying, but also, original Star Wars, per Lucas' vision, was 2 hours of Luke being a farmer... Without his current-wife, and her edits, that movie would have bombed.
He should have more content control over star wars
Straight straight… 🙄🙄🙄
I really hope there's a meaty live-action recurring role in the modern Star Wars Universe for Sam. He clearly loves this Universe so much. He's been such an important part of telling these stories as a voice actor. And he's not just showing up to do a job. He really clearly thinks about what motivates everyone. He studies the movies that came before, he clearly reads the books and probably the comics. Don't let Kathleen Kennedy near him. Just let him be in the Filoni/Favreau circle. O M G, I think I'd freak out if he ended up in the Mandalorian & Grogu movie, playing some character that will have a profound impact not just on the outcome of that film, but on the Star Wars stories told in this part of the timeline going forward!
My god get this man an upper management role within Star Wars immediately.
George is a visionary and a great director. Writing, not so much.
the problem with the sequels is george lucas didnt write them
wow that question really got him going like the full force of his love for George and all of Star wras was just ...Unleashed 😄
George Lucas did not invent or pioneer digital editing. We went from the CMX System in the 1970s which was made by CBS and Memorex to...The Harry, invented by Quantel in 1985 and it was in fact the first Digital Editing tools. Industrial Lights and Magic innovated a lot of things, Digital was not one of them and in fact, they were going OLD SCHOOL which is why they were using stop motion capture VistaVision in A New Hope which led them to create Go Motion with Empire...they did not use Digital in any of the 3 original movies and the company did not start until 1985, using Quantel's technology. as for Audio. Sony produced the first Digital editor with the first PCM encoder in 1981. Try to remember, when A New Hope came out, THX did not exist yet. Lucas started Skywalker Sound for the sound effects and music. None of it was digital, same in Empire. In 1980 he has one of his sound engineers start working on trying to make it so THEATERS could reproduce the movies sounds better and they came up with the "Sprocket System" of speaker placement based on a theaters size and shape and that is why THX originally was the first few years, just speaker placement. It was not unti 1983 when they developed something called "Deep Note" which was actually just a change in frequency delivery from new speakers, which all became a "THX" standard. It was still not digital. That did not happen until 1986.
4:58 I wish that people would think more like Sam Witwer here when it comes to media, I’m not just talking about Star Wars but literally just any other type of media, instead of just going “this is crap man” people should think “ok this story was written by (a genius writer that has been creating this story since the beginning) but this ending is different than what I was expecting. Why is it so different? What are they trying to say?”
Have to admit, I fell into the peer pressure of OT fans and a few years after RotS, I started hating on the prequels myself. I still think, while the overall story was great, but it's execution (script and character directing) could've been a lot better. However, all's said and done, it's all Star Wars and I love it, and appreciate all Lucas has done, and Witwer is spot on here.
🗿
who is the bird next to him
Sam's date for later that day
if this is lucas arts i want to say that my indie film if you like it....i want to give it to you...just please give back so i can make more pls i need funds to make better and u know its not cheap so understand thank you with love
Why do you all do that or better...how are you doing that on Q? the nose thing? Okay I am very very impressed .....It isnt high def so i see where the tricks are but still i give you recognition......But our time will end here soon!
Thats why I celebrate this man for the force unleashed! ....He did an amazing job for what he brought to that charter for the game which would been an amazing movie as well......maybe one day!
History is made by single people who work very hard to make change or make an impact, like George.
Poor girl realizing the hunk cares more about Star Wars than her.
Sam , you are a real treasure for STARWARS FANS , we love you! ❤
The way he pronounces Hoth is exactly something George Lucas would do😂
Brilliant🌌
I love that everyone knew the story and punchline before he even started telling it, and still gasped and audibly said “No” because he’s just that good/ passionate about his expressions
I love that bro is just casually wearing an ILM shirt 😂
1:06 Nah, this was the one time Hollywood was right. 😂
"It's still real to me, dammit!"
3:24 His George Lucas impression had me in stitches 😂
Insane they havnt given him a live action role
Sam is a fucking legend
Witwer: Dont repeat yourself, do something different than whats expected. Disney: Yeah lets just take the original trilogies storyline and rehash it with our lame replacement for Luke.
Gotta love JRD! Endlessly frank and entertaining.
This is what a true fan of the franchise looks and sounds like pure passion.
well to be honest, his first cut was pants. I believe it was re-edited by his (then) wife, to make it was eventually going to be.
Hehehehehehehe 3:10
JRD is one of our favs
2:39 didn’t realise Salacious Crumb was at the panel 🤣🤣
I think it is a crime that they don’t use him more. He is such a talent. His Darth Maul was exceptional in TCW. And the way he talks about it, you can so tell it’s not just about the money. It all genuine, which makes Star Wars, what it was…
I wish Star Wars was being done as good as House of the Dragon
Agreed. The level of quality is night and day, in my opinion. I feel like HoD puts quality of content above any “social messaging” unlike what seems to be happening over at LucasFilm.
it's so disingenuous to put George Lucas on a pedestal for the flow and cohesiveness of the first star wars when the early cut was so famously a disaster that had to be nearly entirely redone by a new editing team, the cast and crew found him hard to work with creatively, and multiple cast members have mentioned how terrible the script was for a lot of cut lines. Star Wars was not great because of George Lucas, it was very much a team effort and sometimes it feels like it was a success despite him. This vid isn't even lying by omission, it's just lying.
hmm, maybe ill watch the show now. Good video! that lady is a cutie!!!
The fact the empire has tiny baby shackles tells you alot about them lol
bravo. always my thought on george lucas
George Lucas has said I wanted to make a Monomyth. A said story that branches out over years of people interacting with it. Much like the epic of Gilgamesh, that has been done every which way for eons, he wanted another epic for the current generations. And all the lore so many people got invested and created for it from revan and on he created the next Gilgamesh through Star Wars.
...The sub & bass in this video's audio is unbearable
I'd be very surprised if Tom Bombadil died and the Stranger (who may or may not be Gandalf) replaced him. That would be quite the twist.
None of what he said is true. It's just bullshit fan glazing of Lucas. Kinda sad watching a grown man in this day and age doing that. Does he have internet?
