Hi Chris, looking forward to your next video or two, hope your well.😊
Keep up the videos !
Drop me a message when you're near Folkestone as I know a Peregrine nest site
You picked the worse weather for your visit. I've had some great days in November when the winds have been gentler. Bearded Tits all over the reserve but especially in the corner by the sluice. BTW, there's a great cafe in Oare village by the creek.
Good tip that! Never had much luck with the beardies there myself but seen some great shots from others! Have you ever seen the eels by the sluice????
The issue I have with Sheppey is transport. I don't drive so I'm reliant on public transport and my own two feet to get anywhere. I live in London and there are two places I love to go, Dovercourt and Walton on the Naze. My main interest is Wading birds so in the winter the Essex coast is fantastic. On the impossible list for me is Fetlar on Shetland, it's the best place in the UK to see Red necked Phalarope but it's an absolute nightmare to get to
Yeah that’s a good point! It is tricky. Still not seen a phalarope. Unfortunately the best places are :( have you got someone you can jump in the car with?
@@ChrisGoesWildweirdly enough a female Red necked Phalarope was spotted at Farlington marsh in Portsmouth recently, that's easy to get to from London but I missed it 😅
@@ChrisGoesWildand unfortunately not regarding the car thing, there're a few places in Essex that are remote once you get past the public beaches.
The one in Kissimmee was that Joe Overstreet?
That’s the one! Cool place
@@ChrisGoesWild I absolutely love that place. Great video
Hi Chris, I like your videos a lot, so I hope you don't mind this feedback but I think the geese around 1.40 are White-fronted Geese; if you look at them carefully you can see bars across their bellies, white flashes around their bills and they don't have big white patches on their wings like Greylags. There was a large flock of these on the Isle of Sheppey over the winter.
Absolutely! Very kind. See you out there !
Such a beautiful place to go birding! New subscriber here ✨
Thanks for visiting! It's great & a nice area too
Excellent, thinking of going there, would they still be there in a fortnight?
They’ll be there for a couple of months! It’s getting exciting now as they’ll be very active and nesting!
Excellent video, very enjoyable. I like that you keep them short and sweet, yet filled with all sorts of information and great footage and pics. Look forward to the next.
That's very kind! new to video so all the tips & comments help
Really interesting. I find it incredible that birds do these long migrations. I currently live in NZ and the Bar-tailed Godwits are the big migrators - leaving here in March to head north and returning in Spring.
Incredible isn’t it- such small little things go that far !
Nice Video
Thanks!
Good job!
😊😊😊👍👍👍
Ah I remember the magic of hearing their calls back in Poland. So happy to see that they are here
So much more common in Europe :( amazing call though!
i like this guys voice. very deep.
That’s very kind 🫡
Dog walkers and walkers in general are the bane of my whole life....i feel you 😂
😂 it’s the not saying hello back / ignoring that baffles me
@ChrisGoesWild I like to think that many people are just social rejects that have no idea how to interact with people but sadly more often that not its just they love to be annoying and rude 🤣
She was probably wondering what you were doing, although seems quite obvious to us, still rude not to wave back
Great Chris. Love the variety of your videos 👌
The scent of Gorse after rain in intoxicating .
I’m Guilty of having googled “Gorse aftershave “ 😂
Subscribed love Pagham Harbour & Medmerry will be there for the Terns later in the y👍ear
Awesome! Seeing if the little Terns have made it back to Rye this weekend
@@ChrisGoesWild love Rye I haven’t been there for wildlife though👍
Great video, looks like you had a great outing!
Looks like a tree covered in old man beard but hard to tell without seeing it in person
A super video again! People can be so ignorant - no wonder I prefer birds and animals! I think the bushes you passed were blackthorn - flowers before leaves. Then it's hawthorn with lovely scented blossom, this month - leaves before flowers! And yes, love the scent of gorse - seems better in the sunshine. I think it's a mix of coconut and pineapple!
Funny isn’t it! It always astonishes me how often I say hi to people out and about and they completely ignore it. I have to say too from my travels so far it seems to be an entirely english phenomenon!
It's our natural reservation! 😊
Welcome back Chris, I'm so happy to see you posting a birding video again! Do you ever come to Scotland? We have such fabulous Birdwatching Sites up here... Thanks for another great video, Peter x.
Hey Peter! Been sick that’s all. I haven’t been this year but look forward to coming soon. Hopefully this summer. Ideally go to Islay again , loved it
@@ChrisGoesWild Hey Chris, so sorry to hear that you've been unwell - are you feeling better these days? I sincerely hope so xxx🤗💋❤
@@ChrisGoesWild You'll need to visit Scotland very soon - it's a relatively short breeding season up here. Islay isn't really a thing for us Scots birders - it's too far South. When you come up here, you really should go much farther North. What about Orkney or Shetland? xxxxx
Hope your well Chris, just wondering when your next video was out, ,, 😮
Hey! I was sick = no voice and not a huge amount of birding. Although have been working on one or two 'longer' videos over a few weekends
Some great footage. BTW the beginning of Lakenheath is pronounced the same as the body of water ‘Lake’.
Wonderful
Hey Chris, I'm your *Newest Subscriber.* I'm loving all of your birding videos, because you never come across as "one of those know-it-all arseholes"! I'm incredulous that you don't have many more Subscribers/Views than you SHOULD DO! Just as an aside to the bird stuff, have you ever played Professional Rugby? I'm pretty sure I have memories of you in that 'world' back in the day - I.E. "that nose of yours", LOL!!!! xxx
I haven’t been to Lakenheath for a few years, being from S Wales we had holiday’s close by four times. We went looking for the Golden Oriole but didn’t get lucky. It’s a nice reserve to visit.
Good spot isn’t it! Great area for it more importantly. Golden Oriole! Wow… S Wales is an area I need to pay more attention to definitely
pontypool here.
I saw golden orioles there quite a while back, it's a great place isn't it!
A very watchable and enjoyable video, thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow! Another great video !
nice, interesting video
Thanks for watching
Two pairs of Long Tailed Ducks a few weeks ago here in Donegal half a mile from home, Also Red Breasted Mergansers, Choughs, Great Northern Divers feasting on flounders, Merlin in my garden. Saw a male Hen Harrier from my front garden, but didn't have my camera to hand. All within the last few weeks. Loving it here!
That’s incredible! Very jealous. Especially the long tailed ducks !
By the way, great contribution, Chris!
What the hell are those wind turbines doing so close to such a precious ecosystem?
Good question… if only they were as good as promised !
The blades shed bisphenols into the surrounding environment in tiny microparticles. These remain in the environment indefinitely where they get ingested by birds and other wildlife, and eventually into us via the food chain. Bisphenols are highly toxic and cause reproductive problems and gender distortion issues. The EU has recently reduced the maximum safe daily intake in via foodstuffs over a thousandfold, though of course you will not see this in the media. Just do a quick search into wind turbines, bisphenols and food legislation and I guarantee that you will be alarmed. We are currently fighting to stop a massive windfarm being built on the banks of a pristine estuary here on the west coast of Ireland.
@@ChrisGoesWildNot to mention the destruction of native and migrating species by the blades themselves!
My reply to you has been instantly removed by Google. It contained vital info.
@@williamrobinson1453 absolutely. Seen the clips of them being buried too when they can’t be recycled 😡
Great video, I really like that you are able to capture the birds behavior (like the harriers) on video. I have been really enjoying your content, keep it up!!!!
Cheers mate ! It’s tough reminding myself to video when there’s action instead of just taking pictures
Really enjoyed this what a stunning location! Also binge watching your videos now :)
That’s very kind! Cool place - massively underrated by south east / Kent birders & photographers.
Great video Chris 👍 can’t wait for more videos on different bird of prey do you often see Buzzards 🦅
Cheers mate! Yeah all the time. They become almost boring which is a shame. Hopefully see a Honey Buzzard this summer 🤞
@@ChrisGoesWild no way that’s insane only ever seen 1 😳 red kites are the most common for me and fingers crossed you see one mate🙏
Buzzards are everywhere
I enjoyed that! thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Really good content Chris! So happy to hear about Marsh Harrier. Best, Courtney
I know you’ve always been a harrier fan.
You could be a love child between Cristian Jesson and Jeremy Clarkson
Love you Christopher
💕Wow🧡🧡🧡💜💜💜💜
What a lovely experience! I loved the quintessential barn owl. Looking forward to your next adventure. If you make your way to niagara falls Canada we have some beautiful owls!
Thanks Chloe! Glad you enjoyed it, although i suspect some wine might have been involved ;) Would be amazing. Great Grey owls, and Kats...
A while back Red Kites were endangered, but not now. I can't help thinking that feeding so many birds is a disaster waiting to happen. So many young birds think that visiting this place is, 'hunting'. I know it's a big attraction, but it has gone way beyond a helping hand. Great content as always though!
Really interesting point. I have never read anything about that question but will have a look!
Do the aircraft cause problems for the birds? And vice versa?
Good question. Certainly doesn’t seem like it but there is probably the odd ‘bird strike’.
All so calming watching any wildlife. Can hear the woodpecker in the local woods, and always buzzards about over us
Another brilliant video Chris. Catch up soon Dude.
Cheers Dave! See you next weekend probably 👍👍
Love your channel just found you today already watched every video cool car too mate and some quality content 👍
Thanks Aaron! Really appreciate it. Glad you like the bird wagon 😉
Hi Chris. I really like the video. You found a bunch of beautiful birds and your comment was on point. Well done. Greets Stefan
Thanks mate! Again, cranes are rare for us here !
