Hello, I really love this video and I want to know is THE dokja that we read, really dokja? Or it's just the dokja that the companions remember? You know, the omniscient reader story that we read is the han sooyung and the companions created because they want to make all of the pieces of dokja(us the readers) imagine that Kim dokja is alive and happy with his companions. I still can't understand doesKim dokja woke up or not. Becoz in last epilogue it is told in such a way that oldest dream will complete the incomplete chap of the novel written by han su young. And even yjk also managed to deliver all the stories to all Kim dokja of obter worldlines. So what I think in the end is that oldest dream created an ending where whole kimco were together

I’ve only ever heard of death of the author until now. Its really, really late, but I do want to ask, how do you think the constellations supporting kim dokja relate to the four main characters of twsa? I’d love to hear your thoughts on it. seeing a new perspective like yours is really refreshing.

THIS WAS SUCH A GOOD ANALYSIS!! The semiotics talk was very interesting and easy to follow (tho i am a literature nerd that likes to overanalyse stuff) and I really like the take on the story here! yoohankim's relationship spins around my head a little too much, and dont even get me started on other characters like huiwon and jihye. This novel is just phonomenal and I love hearing people talk about it!

I absolutely love your interpretation of ORV and the in depth video plus the comments were very intresting because I had not thought of such a perspective. Also I wasn't aware of the concepts of death of the audience and death of the author but the more I think about it now the more evidence I can see in the novel. The coverage of the core themes of ORV were great and understandable! I would love to see more analysis on ORV or just the whole story itself and what you thought about how the narrative was handled

So in summary, they will never be happy, the only way for that to happen is if scenarios still exists so KDJ can keep living with all of them an other constellations but that will mean the apocalypse is still there, maybe they could adapt with time, but OD would never be saved and OD is jur a kid who deserves love, why does he have to sacrifice? It's unfair for him and for SP since they will never meet, like, or YooHanKim we know lives a tragic life or JoongDok from the past never gets a chance to live... I hate everything, why can't we becomes the readers? Why does it have to be KDJ? I'll gladly carry that burden and that's what I think would be te best resolutiom. We all are readers and we have to keep the story so KDJ can come back and they all can live together (my copium, let me dream)

I have been waiting for a video like this for so long! ORV is perfect for discussions like this and you brought a perspective that was fresh and really solidified some of the perceptions that I had but couldn't name. When you talked about death of the audience and how probability is used to keep the scenario in check, and by extension Kim Dokja, I can't help but see it as another way for the author to break that fourth wall, to check in with the audience and kind of acknowledge those narrative devices they use (like deus ex machina) Like if the author wants to use something convenient to further the plot, it takes a cost from the audience. We have to buy into it. We have to think it's probable and to use that concept as a mechanic in the story, its just so good. When you talk about Dokja's fanon interpretation of YJH versus the intent of YJH by the author to teach Dokja, it's just so eye-opening. I always saw HSY writing TWSA as making something winding and intriguing enough that Dokja would keep at it, allowing him to use some of the determination of YJH to get through the trials of life, but I see it's so much more than that. But Dokja reads passively and doesn't apply any of these skills to his life. I think about that train ride with Sangah so much, that initial failure to have a genuine interaction to communicate and later on when you realize she's been tip toeing around wanting to reach out, it's like. Dokja used TWSA to survive but also as a crutch. Like you said, its saving him but also killing him. When you connected Dokja's reading as quantum superposition it was like a light went off in my brain! Like of course! Him changing YJH just by being there is obvious, but everyone else leveling up faster when he's not BECAUSE he's not is just ughslakdjf it's good! I just thought it was a funny little aside maybe some angst fuel to feed Dokja's insecurities, but I never put it together that it was his job to witness, and if it takes place outside of his view it both happens and doesn't happen. With ORV, I've always felt that we could spend more time with the characters with Dokja interacting with everyone but with this interpretation I can see how that could be intentional that we don't. It's the snow between the lines we read. The unobservable facts that we just understand happens. When you mentioned the paradoxical nature of ORV, I'm reminded of the square circle example in the novel. "It's not the issue with understanding it, but rather, accepting it." We can accept the paradox of HSY writing the novel even though she learned of it bc she was in the novel because of the power of stories, of language and communication. One of the first things I learned when studying linguistics is the infinity of language and how you can write things beyond imagination. Normally a paradox would be frustrating, but somehow in ORV it's balanced so well. Great video!!

Loved the video! It's so hard to find videos analysing ORV here, most of the analysis I've seen is scattered on different social media platforms. I'm very interested in hearing your thought on other themes in the novel, for example about Dokjas core characters, and I really wouldn't mind an even longer video on death of the audience since it's a pretty overlooked concept usually. Again, thank you for the great analysis and I will be checking out the podcast.

As someone from the global south that isn't a native english speaker, I had to learn a lot to be able to navigate fan spaces (especially audio drama ones), so I feel this a lot.

Because penumbra has the most wLw representation I've ever engaged with but when i actually started listening to your video I really understood your point , even when there is a lot of canon content for buddy and vespa ive rarely seen fanart of them .after the video i immediately went to my pintrest board and was disappointed to realize I too was feeding into this narrative. While i had almost hundereds of pins for juno ,buddy or vespa were rarely seen .Thankyou so much for making me more aware about how i engage with this content. no wait its so cool that you picked up on the significance of the season three version of thief without a name (extended) bc I was enjoying the new version but it never occurred to me that the introduction of percussion to the theme could be to signify that peter is running from his past (which we find out when that theme starts playing in man of glass I think!!)

Also, excellent analysis on the four main characters! I seldom see people talking about the different versions of Persephone in Hadestown, and I love your take on her complexity. something I always find myself liking a lot are stories or headcanons of mlm ships genderbent to be wlw ships. If Juno and Peter were exactly the same, but women instead? I'd still love it, heck, if not even more bc I myself identify as wlw and love to be able to authentically relate to a ship I got invested in
