มุมมอง 781ปีที่แล้ว
Today I will show you my thoughts on the Dakota fire hole and teach you how to make them. I will also fail to make a the hole between the two pits quite large enough, that is why you see smoke occasionally. Sorry about that part but in all this is a fantastic method for cooking and boiling water and stealth camping. Because of the fact that most of the flames and coals are below ground level it...

    In a fight I would take a hammer instead.

    Should call the condor a hammer

    The first one you are taking bigger swings, rotating your body more, and really driving your shoulder into. Others not so much and you aren't striking at the best part of the blade on the longer ones. Not a great comparison.

    My friend the deer antler in your pocket could be very painful if you were to fall on that side of your body. Consider a different method of carry.

    You're hitting way too close to the handle, and consequently are robbing yourself of power in your strikes. That might be part of why they aren't sticking. Try hitting about ⅔ down the sharpened length of the blade, maybe even closer to the end. That sweet spot varies by blade, but it's almost never in the middle or near the handle.

    Informative video! I had no idea punkwood made a good tinder, I have read that you can char it like cotton char cloth, put it in a can over a fire, but never knew that it took a spark that easy.

    It was a really good video but I wouldn't use the edge of my knife to strike that ferre rod. Add some vaseline to that dryer lint or cotton and the burn time will greatly increase .

    • @PreppersArsenal
      @PreppersArsenal ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching James! Yes I should have addressed that. I usually wouldn’t use the blade but this knife is one that needs a lot of work anyway so I’m not to careful about it’s edge. Thank you for commenting!

    how do you sharpen your knife in the wild?

    • @PreppersArsenal
      @PreppersArsenal ปีที่แล้ว

      I personally use a whet stone to sharpen my knives before excursions but if you don’t have one you can use a a smooth river stone keep its surface wet to carry away the metal powder.

    Hi Jon's glad to see you're continuing with your videos 👌 good workmanship of the gorge hook (with only one small mistake) your attachment to the line should not be in the center but 1/3 of a point so that it can turn to the "hooking" in its mouth good continuation to your channel 👍

      @PreppersArsenal ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching and commenting. I am fully aware of this fact I just called it that because people think they know what that is. I am pretty sure I did mention it as ferro rod though, as in the title.

  • @kurwacozajebanynick
    @kurwacozajebanynick ปีที่แล้ว

    Good stuff! Another trick is (if possible) to dig the inlet on the windward side. This way wind will push more air into the fire without any additional effort ;)
