Solid Edge and the power of Synchronous technology
Working with imported data can prove difficult without a feature tree. In this video, we look at how Solid Edge with synchronous technology can turn a dumb solid into an easily modifiable and/or a parametric part in no time, using automatic geometric relationships, live sections, dimensions that drive or control the model and apply your own geometric relationships. In this video we look at working and adapting Inventor, Pro/E, solidworks parts and assemblies, SAT and STEP file with ease.

Solid Edge Sensors
มุมมอง 5114 วันที่ผ่านมา
One of the hidden tools in solid edge are the sensors. There are 3 main types - one specifically for sheet metal which has specific requirements about hole or cutouts that shouldn’t be too close to bends or edges, there are also proximity sensors that can be used in assemblies and custom sensors, that cover such things as distance, mass or basic costs.
Bent Box Section
มุมมอง 7721 วันที่ผ่านมา
This video shows how you can simulate a bend piece of box section using solid edge sheet metal. To make the bend in box section, you need to have a cutout through all bar one wall of the box section. Using sheet metal we can simulate the and have the ability to show it in its bent and unbent shape.

How to bend a cut piece on the side wall of a pipe
มุมมอง 119หลายเดือนก่อน
This video will show how you can create a cut on the side wall of a pipe, leaving a tab and then get a rotation on that tab. This example shows the power of synchronous technology in being able to detach sections of the model, rotate sections and faces of the model and then reattach it when finished.

Creating a surface using bluesurf
มุมมอง 1013 หลายเดือนก่อน
A quick tip on creating surfaces using bluesurf, ensuring that sketch endpoints are connected and manually applying blue dots when those connections are not recognised. Bluesurf also offers the chance to add guide curves to control the shape of the surface and then get it to add extra control curves for more specific control.
Using the search functions in Solid Edge pathfinder
มุมมอง 1253 หลายเดือนก่อน
There are times when the pathfinder in Solid Edge assembly gets quite large, which then makes it hard to find or select parts in the assembly. There is now a search tool built into the pathfinder and parts library that enables you to find and select parts easily. The search strings utilise the wildcards as per those defined by microsoft (support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/examples-of-wildcard-c...
Bend Tables

When you use the bend table in draft, the default sequence for listing the bends is created based on the order in which the bends were created in the sheet metal file. To change to display order, you need to activate the bend table command in the sheet metal file and set the bend order there.

Importing a sheet metal file into Solid Edge
มุมมอง 1226 หลายเดือนก่อน
When you import a sheet metal file created in another CAD system, you should be able to convert the file to a sheet metal file. There are times when this process will fail and it is usually down to files not being a uniform thickness. The typical causes of this are most likely: 1. Inconsistent internal/external bend combinations 2. Holes that cross bends 3. Chamfers on edges 4. Angled faces tha...

Your part failed because I presume that you tried to do a material inside - material outside worked. The reason for this is the material and sheet thickness are the same and solid edge does not allow for a zero bend. Change the bend radius to 0,020 " and it will work.

    • @c182SkylaneRG
      @c182SkylaneRG 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@cadcentralnzExcept that I _am_ trying to go to the outside, and have tried large radius bends just as an experiment to try and get the part to resolve. I'm wondering if there was some update between ST9 and SE2020 that is allowing yours to resolve and mine to not? It doesn't make sense that it would give this much trouble over a square-to-round, though. That's one of the most basic sheetmetal parts to make...

I am designing a one tenth scale model of my 1930 Austin Seven special that I built in the 70s. I will make 4, one for me and one for each of my sisters. I do the design in DSM, and then create the same design in SE. I use the earlier community edition of SE because it's the one I downloaded a few years back. The computer I use it on isn't connected to the internet, this has never seemed to bother SE, so I will continue to use it for the time being. Lee
