I’m Ecuadorian. My mother’s dna results are 60% Native American and 17% Balkan Greek. The rest is small percentages of Italian and French. Both my parents have the “-ez” suffix, Alvarez and Velazquez. I have read that that mean eres Zion or son of. My father is from Portoviejo, where there is a large Jewish community. It’s all very interesting. Although you didn’t mention Ecuador, I do think my family’s history might somehow be linked to The Sephardic diaspora.

My Joy - My mother celebrated her 102nd birthday yesterday @ her home in Delaware . Despite the cold she received many ‘doorstep distanced ‘ visits from neighbors , friends , & family . Her ‘ Joy ‘ was created by the visits & through the efforts of her incredible 24/7 aide of 6 years who filled the house & yard with balloons, flowers, decorations , & sweets .

What brings me joy? Taking a moment to simply appreciate the beauty that surrounds us...thank you! 🥰 🙏🏼
